Proof you don't need to run tires on the rear. Im going to peel off my rear tire next time I want to go faster.
+durianrider that's a great question, imo, carbon will break in this case. carbon is the top for many case but in this one, you need a bit of elasticity to take those hits. You can see the rim is not a perfect circle at the end.

h82fail It can be more flexible than aluminium, depending on how it is made. Most Carbon rims are made to be stiffer than aluminium. Also carbon isn’t good with direct hits from hard objects. When the aluminium rim bends it is not always a big problem, but when a carbon rim breaks you probably crash. So aluminium is waay better here.

It's actually scary how fast he went. He had no rear tyre for about 80% of the run and still put in a time that would have been 10th place in elite women. Also makes me wonder about all the marketing bullshit we get from tyre companies...
Tires are still very important, also a front tire is more important then the rear since it holds your grip

glue the tyres on maybe? - if I was his mechanic or specialized I would have found a solution to this design fault rather than let the guys career suffer, people have been flatting in DH for 20 years +, its about time this problem was erradicated forever.
