Ironically that's what happened to Sonic. Back then they made Sonic more "ironic" and hire Erin Hanson as Sonic spokeperson to promote the games. The result is immediate and fans hate on the "ironic" advertisements and how Arin keep shiiiiiiiiiiiting on the games over and over again. Then now they switch to more positive advertisements and hiring Inugami Korone as a more happier, chipper and positive spokeperson and people love her so much they ended up keeping her as Sonic spokeperson until now.
DC needs to do the same with Batman. Get away from this plot armor prep time garbage and get back to formula.
Batman is always making things worse in his comics. Most recently, he made his own version of Ultron in Failsafe for the dumbest reason ever. Then we have the Gotham War where he basically sabotage a conspiracy that dramatically slashed violent crime. Then, when Jason refused to obey his whim, he poisoned his surrogate son with a crippling phobia of conflict.
Yeah. He had that kind of chemical warfare prepared for *his own family,* but not for any of his pet psychos.
I got more genuine "Yeah! Batman!" out of his movie crossover with the damn Ninja Turtles than anything his comics have done in the last 5 years or so.

It's always all about "seeing yourself in the character" and yet they're completely ignorant to the fact most of Spider-Man's readers have been reading his comics for at least 30+ years and often are married with kids themselves. You got Miles Morales to be the "young and cool" Spider-Man.
To add to that it's also that some have expressed that it's "the struggles that he puts up with that makes him relatable and one to root for" that's a massive double edge sword because it means he can never be truly happy as any highs he reaches will inevitably be erased to bring him down to earth so "we can root for him".
It's kinda like how there were those fans who hated Tom Holland's version because he not only had "everything" but everything "was handed to him" and the sad part is that these kinds of fans only "warmed up" to him after he lost everything because he can now be "truly Spider-Man".

It’s wild that the alternate universe timeline about an adult Peter reclaiming a life and legacy that he was denied is the story that’s resonating with fans who have been denied everything they’ve ever wanted for the character.
If the reaction to Peter B. in Into The Spider-verse is any indication, people wanted Peter to be happy. People were happy to see Peter with MJ. He had a daughter. He was happy at long last. Spider-Man deserves to be happy.

@@darkshadowx803 but struggle is fine, in fact struggle is a main feature in all the great stories, the problem is not the struggle, the problem is that the struggle is perpetual and Peter never really seems to overcome it. In fact we could argue that struggle is the part that connects most people with Spiderman, because everybody struggles, but we want him to succeed, we want the best for Peter because he is one of the best characters out there and he deserves success.

It's funny because this echoes something I've been thinking for a while. Release 2 different stories with the same characters and then take them in different directions. And then see which one makes the most profit.

We want Peter to have a family because of how much he means to us as a character, he deserves a happy life for a change for everything he's done and been through.
Mary Jane was always intended to be that light at the end of the tunnel. Seeing it ruined in any way is a disservice to not only Peter, but to the entire story of Spiderman.
Stopped reading Amazing after One More Day. Came back for NICK Spencer’s run, when Peter and MJ got back together and MJ was treated right. Left again as soon as Nick’s run was over and they pulled that BS with MJ and Peter breaking up. I will give Ultimate a look.

I've always seen Peter and Mary as the ultimate couple and what they have done to him since One More Day has irked me.
Why can't some of our childhood heroes just have a happy, wholesome ending?
I love the dark and gritty end for the Ninja Turtles so it's not like I want everything to be sunshine and rainbows.
Seriously, any decent elderly family member like an Aunt wouldn't want their nephew to erase their marriage they have in order to bring them back to life. I know I would be ticked if I had a son or nephew who was married and I happened to be dying or dead and only way I could be brought back to life is if my son or nephew made a deal with the devil. That could havebeen used as a real character building arc learning to be a man without Aunt and Uncle to lean on.
As cool as it is to see Peter and MJ together in the Ultimate Universe, (as far as 616 goes MJ has been irreparably damaged and Paul can keep her) we won’t know how long this will last until Marvel Editorial gets involved again.
After all if Pete ain’t suffering, he isn’t relatable to the audience in their eyes.

I remember how people described that Quesada made "One More Day" to explore Peter's single life...only for the very next issue to introduce an insert of Quesada's daughter as Spidey's new "one true love". That creeped me out.

Marvel should just replace the main continuity with Ultimate Spider-Man. The main line has been butchered so badly that any attempt to fix it would involve some level of rebooting anyway. RYV didn't find nearly as much success because Peter was relegated to a side character and they forced a time skip that turned the kid daughter into another teen hero.

You have to remember in this universe Peter was never bitten by the spider. So when Peter got married and had kids he had no powers to pass along to his children. I would like to see a book come out that would come out like renew your vows without the time skip so we could see more adventures with his young kids and Peter. It would make a better story for why Mary Jane would want to have powers than what we have now in the 616.
Just saying, seeing a positive Peter Parker happily married while being Spider-man and a Father instead of the "Web of Misery" that has devastated comics is a huge win.

Stan Lee went through several rough patches in his life and he never brought down Spidey to his level for he knew that the character would get knocked down. But he always got back up for that is what Peter Parker/Spider-Man and that is why he is universally loved by the fans(not the shills, tourists or weak minded).

What makes Spiderman so admired is that he's a relatable guy. He struggles over rent, relationships, and balancing the things in his life like everyone else and insists on trying his best to be a good person through it all. But there's a difference between relatable strife and being forced through unnecessary cruelty with no resolution. Like wtf is the point of Paul? What the hell is the ultimate end goal here? Because if it's just to cuck Spiderman, that's just shitty writing. It would be like seeing Uncle Ben dying but Peter never becomes Spiderman.
