    Where would the 2.5" go? Since the 9550 comes with a harddrive and an m.2 ssd there should be room for one but I can't see it on the video.

    • @BrueComputing
      @BrueComputing  Před 7 lety

      Models with a 2.5" HDD get a smaller battery, as per the 9530 I looked at here: czcams.com/video/n0_nolofSwc/video.html

    I have a XPS 15 9550 with 1TB hard disc that needs to be replaced
    with the HD replacement will OS and applications have to be reinstalled ?

    • @ZER0Music
      @ZER0Music Před 7 lety +1

      That depends. If you have a model that has both an SSD and a regular hard drive inside it, it will depend on whether you installed the OS to the SSD or not. If you only have a hard drive and no SSD, then yes, everything will have to be reinstalled because you're effectively wiping the storage by replacing the drive.

    Can i put in a 97wh battery into my laptop which has the 56wh battery? I have an xps 9550 from years ago and still use it now. I have the 56wh battery and it has 2 hard drives, 2.5inch ssd and a 32gb m.2 ssd which came with the system. Can i use a 97wh battery and put that in place of the 56wh battery if i remove the 2.5inch ssd? I read you can do this with the 84wh battery but what about the 97wh? 6GTPY is the model of the 97wh battery, so if its that model, will it 100% work on the xps 15 9550?

    • @matocarina
      @matocarina Před 7 lety

      the intel HD not the biggest problem on emulation,you should look for a processor with 2cores with maximum clock possible(4cores arent used by dolhpin)I believe intel HD can handle a max of 900p in full speed if you have a good cpu.

    having replaced my xps 15 9550 mother board with a seconds board i am having boot up inconsistencies reboot never works only cold start ups work some of the time. , i have noticed that my service tag is different and the asset tag is as previous , bios upgrades do not update,. should both tags be the same, if so which one should be changed and how and or should i do a clean install of windows, . or do i have a completely different problem. laptop works fine once booted up. tried all bios, firmware updates nothing works in the f2 diagnostics i cannot change any tags. dell support doesn't want to know anything as it is out of warranty and board was not from them, thank in advance

    • @BrueComputing
      @BrueComputing  Před 4 lety

      The Service Tag will correspond to the machine the mainboard was taken from. I don't know of any way of changing this but it shouldn't be the cause of reboot issues.
      Does it reboot correctly if you use something like a Linux Live USB stick? May be a Windows issue rather than a fault with the replacement board.

  • @cranbers
    @cranbers Před 2 lety +1

    I was stupid and used a needle nose pliars to secure the battery plug and I saw a few sparks now battery isn't detected, did I short the battery or blow out a chip on the motherboard that detects the battery?

    • @BrueComputing
      @BrueComputing  Před 2 lety

      Errk, that's not great. Only way to be sure would be test with a known good battery, hopefully isn't damage to the mainboard.

    • @cranbers
      @cranbers Před 2 lety

      @@BrueComputing Thanks for the response, I wonder is there a chip in the battery that communicates with the motherboard or is it on the main motherboard? So the laptop still works on battery (it stays powered on when the power supply is removed). But yeah even the bios says no battery installed. I also somehow jacked up the touch pad haha. And I stripped two of the screw heads out holding down the battery, they are in there tight. This was not my best work haha.

      If the 9550 and newer 9560 have the same chassis you should be able to swap the entire motherboard to the newer one that has the kaby lake cpu and nvidia pascal graphic chip, however i'm not sure if you can buy the part from dell, you would have to go do some research

      The i5-6300HQ in the i5 version of the 9550 is still a quad-core chip, so I'd be pretty happy with that.

    one question : In this configuration, do you think you could add a secondary ssd drive 2.5 inches on the left side under the battery ? (edit) i have my answer which is no because the battery is larger than in an SSD+HDD configuration where it could have been possible...
