      Thanks Karen! We hope they do too. You're close on the Redbuds... Ours are actually Judas Trees, Cercis siliquastrum, whereas the Eastern Redbud is Cercis canadensis. In French they are known by the nicer name ‘arbre de judée’ which translates as trees of Judea - a place they flourish. Arbre de judée grow really well in our area but they’re very slow growing so it’s rare to have specimens as large as ours. Because of where they’re placed, their size, our climate and the history of the gardens at Rosieres, we know that our magnificent trees are several centuries old.

    I hope Marc isn't too insulted by my choice of words, but the entire time I was watching this, I kept shaking my head and saying out loud "He's just adorable!" "He's so adorable." "That's just too adorable!" Because that honestly was the only proper description for the boyish joy radiating off him during the delivery! Honestly, it could have been an order of the most hideously awful cactuses etc, and you would have had to laugh and agree, because how could you deny any human being the joy those plants gave him?! It would be like kicking a golden retriever puppy lol.
    And honestly, joy is infectious. I found myself grinning along with him even as I was shaking my head and chuckling at him. I think the joy that was created over that delivery is worth every ounce of hassle it may produce. Such beautiful delight is worth everything! Kudos to you, Any, for realizing that the amount of joy he gets is worth every surprise plant episode 🥰🥰🌴🌴😃
    PS: When he kept giving you the side eye during the moments when his sneaky addition of a "few trees" were revealed made me laugh out loud. He was definitely gaging your reaction to see if he got off lightly or was going to sleep in the chicken coop for a couple days!

    My guess of the established flowering trees in the background: *crabapple, cherry or redbud. The color of the blooms suggests redbud. We have them here in Georgia, U.S. Regardless, trees of this immense size and height, for any of these three species, would mean they are VERY old.
    Such a unique hydraulic system for the bed of the delivery truck!
    Ok, redbuds for the win! When Mark drove the digger beneath their branches, I could see for certain. They are MASSIVE!

    Just watched this episode and I agree with Les or Lee it was, they are absolutely Red Buds. As soon as you panned onto them it was instant recognition. Being from the Midwest in the states these trees are absolutely littered throughout the woods and forests of the Ozarks. What I am amazed at is the size and age of your Red Buds. They must be close to 100 years old to have obtained that height. In the Midwest,(Missouri) they are typically an understory tree so are held to an average height of about 20' max. and have a very snarled trunk structure. They are very beautiful in spring but rather messy when the bean pods litter the ground.

      I’m glad you enjoyed it and also that you managed to catch the Live the other day! And thanks for the compliment - I’ve lost about 11 pounds in recent months which I’m quite pleased about. Still a way to go to pre-Clément but it’s a start!

    I don’t know whether it was on purpose by GoogleAds, but it was really funny to see a “Redbull gives you wings” ad while they were contemplating whether to fetch the digger to get the big ones off the truck. 🤪😂

      Oh that’s so funny. I have had to spend a long time persuading my mother that I don’t choose which adverts she sees - that one seems just too good to be true!

    Wow! Very exciting! I love palms, they're such majestic trees in their own way. I'm very lucky that they grow prolifically here in the Far North of New Zealand. I have our native Nikau palm growing wild, and several other palms of different varieties. I love the idea of a tropical garden hidden away in your grounds, it's going to be amazing! I do hope Clement and Juliette have both recovered? Clement was intrigued by that truck, so was I! What an amazing vehicle! It's always a joy to see Marc's enthusiasm for projects, and I do love your attitude, Amy, Much love and big hugs xx

    How exciting! Sounds like a good deal on those huge Palms! Clement and Juliette are so adorable! 🥰 Hope they're feeling better. The trees you mentioned in the background look like what we call Redbud here in the States. I think they're also called Judas trees? Yours are beautiful! So full of blooms!

    • @Chroniclesofrosieres
      @Chroniclesofrosieres  Před 2 lety +3

      Thank you! Ours are Judas Trees, Cercis siliquastrum (which is a bit different to the Eastern Redbud, Cercis canadensis). They grow really well in our area but they’re very slow growing so it’s rare to have specimens as large as ours. Because of where they’re placed, their size, our climate and the history of the gardens at Rosieres, we know that our magnificent trees are several centuries old.

    Hi Amy, This video was wonderful!! What a treat to see this huge bounty of palms and to see Marc so very happy. Thanks for pointing out the Judas trees which remind me so much of the Red Buds which are very common here in the Mid-Atlantic of the US. I will be very eager to see how you and Marc decide to landscape with the palms. They will make a beautiful addition to the landscape at Rosieres!

      @Chroniclesofrosieres  Před 2 lety

      Thanks Anne! Glad you enjoyed it! I went to bed with the video not doing so well but woke up to find it was quite a hit! You're right that the pink trees are Judas Trees (Cercis siliquastrum,) which are very close to the Eastern Redbud (Cercis canadensis). In French they are known by the nicer name ‘arbre de judée’ which translates as trees of Judea - a place they flourish.
