Our first overnight bus in INDIA (We made a MISTAKE) Goa to Mumbai, INDIA

  • Our first overnight bus in INDIA. After the experience our first overnight train in India, it was time to try out a different style of transport, the overnight bus. We booked our tickets to take us from Goa to Mumbai. If we are being honest, booking the bus did not really turn out how we expected. Needles to say, we'll be using overnight trains in India from now on.
Which do you prefer? Overnight Trains or Overnight bus? lets know in the comments.

Guys, as someone who has travelled all over South and central india.... I gotta say, you guys need to prioritise sleep a bit less, and also eat less before and while traveling, keep your stomachs empty, and just survive on chai till you're at your destination.

Even one foreigner friend of mine went in normal passenger long distance train in India (and didn't even ask any of us prior). Spent 2 days in the train.
I scolded her, this is INDIA, here you literally have 100s upon 100s of options and varying comfort levels for everything from 10 rupees to 10 million rupees... travel, food, accommodation

    • @jimjiminy5836

If I remember correctly you can’t get sleep bus as the roads are very windy as you pass over the western ghats. You are at risk from falling from you bed.

  • @thepoliticalawareness1021

Yes, I can understand. It's very tough to ride in a Non Sleeper Class Bus specially on a mountainous road. Yes if the ride is in the day time then it's pleasant one because of beautiful views of Western Ghat (Mountain Range). But in night people can't see anything. Normally most of the bus services are in night time.

Like someone mentioned, you could ask us for opinions through polls. We would love to help you get the best mode of transport. If you're still planning on taking a bus for shorter trips forward, you can book AC sleeper buses, there are many variants some are called multi-axle and some just go by AC sleeper or volvo, no matter the actual make of the bus. With sleeper buses you actually get quite the amount of headspace as well as legroom to just lean back and at least get to stretch. I am a tall guy so I have major problems with travelling by bus but I find that sleeper buses are much better than seaters in that regard. Especially, for the neck and back. You also get privacy in ac sleepers, they have little cubicle type areas/beds, and they have curtains on the aisle sides. Gives you good peace of mind as well.
Also since you're the adventuristic travelers :P you have to try local trains in Mumbai. Most often the rush of commuters getting into the train and getting off is insane, sometimes it's very calm but it's definitely an experience. That's something that truly shows the hustle and bustle of Mumbai.

  • @KirpalSingh65699
    @KirpalSingh65699 Před rokem +6

Good on you guys for giving it a go. I did the same journey but the other way, 20 years ago. NEVER AGAIN. I think I even went to that same toilet! haha. btw the big railway stations (e.g. Mumbai, Dehli etc) have a Foreign Tourist Office, there is a quota for foreign passports (I think it still exists), this can sometimes be handy when you want to book last minute. Always worth a shot.

Trains have a 24 hours booking system too where the seats are reserved for last minute bookings. You can try there.
Also there is a foreigner quota on the trains so you have a far better chance of getting a ticket than a local. Just make sure you ask for foreigner quota seats.

Out of all the toilet cubicles, he happened to check the one which was lit, and which incidentally, had a toilet pan design.
Indians prefer commodes for toilet seating these days. The one he saw was for some folks who would still prefer to do the old fashioned way 😁
If he had checked other toilet cubicles as well, he would have definitely come across a commode seated one.
This clarification is to erase the negative impression about India, if any when it comes to matter of hygiene.

    Great Video Guys!
Even I tend to avoid overnight bus mainly because: (i) Bedbugs, rare but can be found in low cost buses. Go for the slightly more expensive multi-axel buses, more cleaner and spacious. But with the bad roads, again journey can be tiresome. (ii) Roads (iii) Stops - they have prior arrangements with the hotel people, they sometimes tend to stop in the most crappiest of places, especially when it comes to the washroom. Pun intended!. Multi-axel slightly more expensive buses have better stops. Always take 2AC or 1AC train for overnight journey. I don't usually go for the 3AC more congested, had a bad experience, got bit by hundreds or what it felt like a 100 bedbugs. I personally prefer driving my car. And, I usually start my journey early morning to avoid as much traffic as possible. Only downside to this is it's more expensive.
PS: Another thing to watch out - Never take taxi recommended by the conductor, this happens especially when you get down from the bus after a long journey. The rate is always much higher than the standard rate. The conductor will take the commission from the taxi guy -> The taxi guy will take you to the hotel he has tie-up with, he takes commission from there, these hotels are almost always crap! (from my personal experience). I recommend UBER for the standard rate.

That is so cheap for a hotel room. The cheapest hotel room in the US would be $65 on up! But with the taxes and service charges they add to the bill, it ends up being $75 to $80 for very, very basic low end hotel/motel accommodations without breakfast or anything.
