I'm from the U.S.; I could listen to your delightful "accent" (as it's not an accent to You) all day. { )

You are such a star for coming up with different ways of doing a crackle finish, they are all fabulous, really loved the white one with all the bubbles and textures, so inspiring. Tfs xo
Thank you so much Elizabeth :)
I like the crackle effects. I like these very much.
Thank you so much Yolanda. Glad you like them. :)
I really like the pearlised effect! And the heavily textured one looks great with the sprays, really effective!
Thanks so much Hillie :)
Wow what a texture!!! :-)))
Thank you Pia :)
This is amazing. And I just ordered crackle medium for no good reason lol but this will save me money in the future. Thank you
I really love the gesso one.....definitely want to try that, xx
Thanks so much Wendy - I love doing the gesso one :)
I’ve saved this for reference. So much information, including the info on the glimmer sprays. And of course pulled some cardboard from recycling. All my husband can do is shake his head. We compromise. He has his shoe and cap collection, I have my cardboard. As always TFS.
My husband asks me before he throws anything away, lol.
Thanks so much Robin - I'm glad this was helpful for you. In my experience a cardboard collection is way more useful than a shoe and cap collection ;) But as you say ... compromise ... it's the name of the game :)
That's good to hear Janice :)
Yes, I dont know how many times my husband has said "Are you keeping that for your crafts too?" hahahahahah As I run to my room with an armload of paper products, cardboard, tea bags, etc...
I have so much cardboard around the house too lol😁
I too have saved this for future reference. This is fantastic! I love these and the process in which you created them , I don’t have the paste but with this technique I can have my crackle background. Thank you so much for this information! Xx 💖💖
Thanks so much Rosie - I'm glad this was helpful for you 😊
Oh - what marvelous effects! The gesso one reminded me of textured plaster walls that I remember as a child - until you added color - and then - it took on a wonderful life of it's own. The watercolor and acrylic ones are more subtle - but I think I'll start with those since I have the materials on hand. I learn so much from every video you share, Kylie. Thanks so much!
Thanks so much Mary - so pleased you'll try some of these techniques :)
I was thinking she should watch some videos on how to texture plaster walls and then apply it to her gesso technique for some new works.
I love the gesso technique. I will definitely try this. Hugs.
Thanks so much Tonia - have fun :)
Just came across your channel by accident and happy that I did. Great ideas for the crackle effect.
These are gorgeous! I've used the pva technique on furniture before but I've never seen these other two techniques. I absolutely love the gesso piece Kylie. It's so effective and I also love those two colours together. Thank you for inspiring x
Thanks so much Julie :) xo
Really lovely thank you for sharing 🤩👍🏼💚
Many thanks Sue :)
Oh wow Kylie never thought Gesso could do all that crackle texture! Thanks for the How To! Love them all
Thanks so much Lorraine - it's fun working with gesso like this :)
Passing on this one but looking forward to what you do with these. Always a pleasure watching you. So talented.
Thanks so much for your kind comment Renie. :)
TFS very interesting!
Many thanks Connie :)
Great crackle ideas
Thanks so much Dawn :)
Very interesting effects.
Many thanks Anja :)
Really like the gesso one. It's an awesome textured background. Adding the color makes it stunning !!!
All of them are very nice !!!
Thanks so much June 😊
Thank you so much Kylie, I really really love ❤️ this crackle effect. I especially like the last one the brown colour has made beautiful patterns in the blue. I’d really like to see you doing something with that page. Please stay safe and well too xxx Mags
Thanks so much Mags - still thinking about what to do with that page but I'll come up with something :) xo
Kylie, what an amazing technique! I especially loved that last bubbly one, it really did look like an old piece of wood. Thanks for all the technique styles!
Thanks so much Lynn 😊
Fantastic crackle effect video Kylie. I will try at least a couple of technique. Thanks for sharing. 😊
Thanks so much Pooja - have fun :)
Another interesting video, Kylie. Loved the gesso one. Reminded me of a forest. Take care and stay safe. x
Thanks so much Alan - and yes, I thought it was like a forest too :) xo
Some very interesting techniques ...love the bubble one thanks for sharing... :)
Thanks so much Kay :)
Great ideas 🤗🧚♀️
Thanks so much Purple Fairy :)
Amazing 👏👏👏👌❤
Thank you so much Isobel :)
I like these very much, Kylie. You've made some interesting items here. I don't have any crackle medium so will be experimenting like this too! Many thanks as ever.
Thanks so much Edna :)
I love these! I bought some of the well known crackle medium and had poor results, these techniques are right up my alley and I am excited to try some, thank you!! 😃
Thanks so much Chrisann. As I said to someone else, sometimes crackle mediums can be a bit of a hit or miss. I have a couple so I might get them out again soon and try using them :)
You got some wonderful results Kylie. Isn’t it fun experimenting and seeing what you end up with with no expectations ❤️ xo
Thanks so much Nina - always a lot of fun experimenting xo
I do enjoy using crackle techniques, along with the various crackle mediums. It’s all in the final effective want. I love your examples, especially the one with all the layers of gesso. This one I haven’t yet tried, so this will be my fist attempt with crackle. Thanks so much, Kylie.
Thank you so much Cheryl - have fun :)
Love the different ways to crackle= new subbie 😂
Thx for the informative video 👍🏾
Thanks for watching, commenting and subbing - much appreciated :)
OMYGOSHHHH this is fantastic I LOVE LOVE LOVE these all of them but I think my favourite is the last one with all the gesso on it and the brown turquoise colour thats amazing. Now I want to go and try mixed media work just because of your video I think Im ready to give it a try. I have always loved the Miixed Media but never really tried. thank you so much for sharing and just for the fun Im a new subbie and will be heading over to the facebook page to take a look (hugs)
Thanks so much Tora - I'm so pleased that you now want to try mixed media. Mixed media is so wide that there really is something for everyone and so many different things to try. Have fun :)
Acrylic ink works well with the cling film technique too.I love the last piece with the gesso layers!
Thanks so much Lynda and yes, acrylic inks work well too - I'm actually temped to try it on top of the acrylic paint one I did to try and build up more layers :)
Ty!
Thanks for watching and commenting Joan :)
I like the gesso one both how it finished up & before you sprayed it (looked a bit like snow)
Thanks Jenny and yes it did look like snow :)
This was fascinating!!! I never knew you could do this!!! The last one with the glimmer spray is amazing!!! I love the colors, the texture, and designs that appeared. It is gorgeous just as it is, but I can’t wait to see what you do with it!!! TFS. I did. God bless and stay safe. P.S. the others are fab, too. Who knew you do that with cling wrap!!!
Thank you so much Evelyn. I'm not sure what I am going to do with the gesso page - need to get my thinking cap on for that one. And yes, the cling wrap works well to get textured effects :)
I attempted to make a crackle on effect the other day, which failed, after watching this I see where I went wrong! So big thanks for the clear instructions. I love the last one you did with all the layers of gesso.
Thanks so much Jackie - I'm glad this helped :)
That teal and chocolate heavyweight background: can’t wait to see what you make!
Many thanks Jane - not quite sure what I am going to do with it :)
This is a great and very informative video, full of ideas. I tried the PVA glue crackle technique on a canvas painting as I wanted some crackle effects - used base layer of dry dark acrylic paint with PVA on top then a layer of lighter acrylic paint. When dry I got lovely crackle effects. Left it for over 24 hours but when I glazed over the crackle with more paint the crackle lifted and peeled off. Wondered if it's really not designed for layering over with more wet layers?
Thank you for sharing these methods. You are so creative and love the way you explain everything. I have just started doing some mixed media and only have watercolours and gelatos now. Also can't afford a heating tool so can I use a hairdryer.
Thank you so much for your kind comment Susan. Yes you can use a hairdryer - in fact, I used one for years. The only time it didn't work all that well was in activating embossing powders as it did not get quite hot enough. :)
@@KylieCooStudio Thank you for your reply and looking forward to more videos to help those of us who are just beginners.
Love your video and your work. I wonder if you could show how to make very deep crackle effect for a textures board to look like real wood bark?
Great ideas for crackle effects and especially love the awesome gesso texture!
Thanks so much Cass :)
Love those Kylie, specially as my crackle medium doesn’t really work
Thanks so much Tina. The crackle mediums can be a bit of a hit or miss at times. I should get mine out and try and do something with them :)
Thanks for the tutorial. I might try this technique on my craft. I love to find a crackle method without depending on the crackle medium. Had tried once with pva glue too on the bottle, but still not satisfied yet.
Thank you - it's good experimenting :)
The watercolors are my favorites. The sprayed texture one looks like a wood. Could be the beginning of a more detailed mixed media work. Maybe sponge daubed treetops?
Thanks so much for watching and commenting. Sponge daubed treetops is a great idea - thank you :)
@@KylieCooStudio You're most welcome. :)
This is great! I don’t see the mists listed in the description. What exactly are they?
I thought I was subscribed to you, but I am now for sure!!!!! What are you going to do with the one you made with gesso and sprayed with with two colors at opposite ends. It almost looks like an enchanted forest!!!!!!
Thanks so much Betty - much appreciated. I also thought the one with gesso looked like a forest. I'm not sure yet what I will do with it - I need to have a think about it but whatever I do I will show it on my channel :)
Great video!! 😍 I'll definitely give this a try. TFS 😁
Thanks so much Abril - I hope you enjoy trying these techniques :)
Kylie, I love your techniques which are always so creative and beautiful. In this video, however, it is so sped up it's hard to follow some of what you do. For esample, at the 3:12 point I had to go back several times before I could pause the video on the PVA glue bottle, as I didn't hear you say that was what you were using. I have low vision and therefore must also depend heavily on verbal information, so if you could slow down your videos, it would be of great help. For those who see well, they can speed them up on the CZcams settings. Just my two cents. Thank you for your consideration.
Thank you very much for this tecniques but there no way to made crackle 2 step
Just commented and had a "aha, dummy (to self)" if others can speed up the video playback speed, YOU (meaning ME) can slow it down. So I put it on 75% speed and it has slowed it down to a just right speed. Sorry I didn't think of that before I wrote the previous comment.
No but getting there
Thanks for watching Karen :)
Gosh, I may have fallen into the totally annoying category, but. . . Apparently reducing the playback feed only slows down your voice. The movements continue to be very fast and hard to follow.
Hi Diane - I'm answering all three of your comments in this one response. First of all let me say that you are not in any way annoying. I am always more than happy to receive constructive feedback and will always try my best to ensure the videos I make are accessible for my viewers. I am so sorry that you are having problems with the video. Using the speed button should slow everything down (and I think it can be slowed down as much as to 25%) but I have certainly noticed that when I have slowed down other peoples' videos the film does not run smoothly as it would if it had been saved and uploaded at normal speed. It can appear quite jerky when slowed-down. I will double check what speed I put this video up at - if it was at 4 times speed then from here on unless it is something that is very repetitive I will try not to put it any faster than 2 times speed (often 2 times can look at normal speed for me!) The optimum speed for a video is always a dilemma for me - it's the old story of some people liking one thing and other's the exact opposite. If I was to leave at normal speed them most of my videos would be at least one hour long and some would be way longer than that. I could of course do that but cut a lot of the process out and again the dilemma is that some people like me to show the full process. I do try and say what products I am using and if it's something like PVA glue I don't usually give the brand but going forward I will make sure I give more detail of each item I use. The other thing I have been doing recently is that when I show the product to the camera I have been freeze framing the item and what that does is to show the product for around 4 seconds as a still shot. For a while I was listing all the items I used in the description box but I felt it was better all round to show it on the screen. Would it help you if as well as saying the full name of the product and using the freeze frame if I also put a label across the bottom of the screen with the name of the product? Please do let me know if there is anything else specific that you think might help.
