- Does siesta actually exist here in Spain or is it just a stereotype of cliché of the nation? I have been living in Valencia, Spain for 6 months now and have a good idea of the siesta culture, so I have here today to talk about truths and myths regarding the siesta culture. It is very common that people often think of the Spanish as being lazy, and this is in part due to siesta hour, but people do not take account for the fact that the services here in Spain stay up much later in the night to make up for the siesta hour. The Spanish are some of the hardest working people I have ever seen. The siesta hour is true, and it originated in the pre industrialization era of Spain when the farmers didn't want to tend the fields during the heat. There are many stereotypes that are not true about siesta, but it is an important part of the day to day life here. In this Spain vlog I will be talking about siesta culture and whether or not siesta actually exists.

I think it’s unfortunate the way inflation is impacting everything rn, even siesta culture. Great video ❤
It seems to be affecting everyone quite a lot. I haven’t moved here all my life, so I cannot speak to the actual change, but what I have heard/ read online tells me that the work culture is for sure changing :(

There are so many places here in Valencia that I haven't even seen. Especially the streets with al this art. In wich part of Valencia can I find them?
Hello! I made this video walking around La Saidia and El Carmen. El Carmen is where you are seeing the graffiti, it is a very interesting part of town to walk around!
Interesting. Different than I had thought, but glad to hear it still exists
It caught me off guard as well. Definitely interesting to hear that it is adapting to new cultural customs
What made you take Spanish classes in Spain?
Hello! I chose Spain because I wanted to get acclimated into a new culture. I am not sure if you know this but I am actually from California. That being said, I could have easily went to Latin America, but I chose Spain because it was very far away and I probably couldn’t move far away from home at any other point in my life. I know I will travel Latin America a lot when I am at home, but Spain seemed to be a once in a lifetime opportunity :)
Question is, do you take siestas?
Sure do! Not every day, but when I don’t have class I tend to take a quick snooze
