- Fr. Mohan describing the Vesting prior to Mass. This was not a real Mass, but a teaching experience where Father spoke to us about the symbolic nature of each piece of attire the Priest wears for a Mass.
The vestments are put on over a cassock, not street clothes

My understanding is that the bishop or cardinal ware the stole straight down over the neck. The priest crosses the stole over the chest. ?l
That is the norm in the Extraordinary Form (TLM), but the Novus Ordo does not require priests to cross the stole.
I almost got that style of chasuble and stole when I was ordained back in 2015, however our Presiding Bishop only allows...(yuck)...plain vestments.

Greg Cameron He celebrated the NO once. Under duress. At the end of his life. He wouldn't celebrate the Mess of McCarrick, Dolan, Cupich, Farrell, Tobin, Levada these days. He is whirling in his grave. He knew how to vest for Mass, though, and didn't need to have a vest-a-joke-a-long to explain ...
I hope you know he wasn't celebrating Mass at the time. I must agree thought that the jokes were unnecessary.
