cannot honestly think of any other LFC player who played with such a combination of skill, determination, strength, energy, and pleasure. and he did it for so many enduring years, contributing to so many chapters of our illustrious history. we were so fortunate to get this man to play for us. such a wonderful winning and genuine smile on his face. rest in peace Emlyn, and may perpetual light shine upon you.
My first game stood on the Kop in August '71. It was Emlyn's birthday, "Come all without, Come all within, You ain't seen nothing like the Mighty Emlyn" roared the Kop. We beat Leicester City 3-2. ...and Emlyn is joined today by another of those famous 70's reds, Tommy Smith. RIP lads.
Played with his heart on his sleeve. Lived and breathed Liverpool fc. Such an infectious smile and every modern Liverpool player should watch Emlyns video's on youtube. A great man and ambassador for the Mighty Reds Y.N.W.A R.I.P Crazy Horse
I had the pleasure of meeting Emlyn Hughes when I worked for Butlins many years ago. He came into our restaurant and was very friendly, talking about football and the success he had as a Liverpool and England captain. A true legend of the English game.
Great player, great sense of humour. From an Arsenal fan,Emlyn taken from us too soon.I used to enjoy reading his column in the paper,he never pulled no punches. So enjoyed his opinion of Terry Venables,he was the only man who never rated him as a coach.Emlyn Hughes fabulous player
That Bill Shankly quote Do you know who I have in car, I have England captain! Policeman - never seen him before Bill Shankly - but you will! Anything what that legend Bill Shankly said you believe him.
I started going to watch football in the 70s, I'm not a Liverpool fan but I will never understand why Emlyn Hughes has become the forgotten man of English football.
A lot has happened from the last days he played until now. but from my generation he was it! Then of course all the star talent also came but from this Fullback or defender that still loves soccer, emlyn hughes is eternal and will never be forgotten so in a way he goes on.

Crazy horse they called him as usual a gentleman of the field as well. The team photo at the start was probably the team i first saw as a kid. 70's and 80's Liverpool were as good as midern day teams..pass and move that what they did...direct football...beautiful.
Super player. If I'd seen Trevor Brooking play before Emlyn, I'd be a tragic Hammers man. So many great, and I do mean great players in Liverpool's history, but Crazy Horse is up there with Kenny and Stevie in my top 3.
The Great Man was VITAL. First saw him in the flesh v. VILLA at Anfield 76. What a time of many great times for the Reds. Irons fan rememberin a Legend and so tell young Pool fans about him. And yes also CALLY.
Some cracking goals here. You'd never guess Smith and Hughes didn't like each other just judging by the way they played together on the park. Tommy seems pretty pleased with Emlyn @8.27.
Liverpool were masters of the morphing of their team, coming & going or staying. Before you knew it there was another classic side. Some only stayed a few years as the manager brought another striker say to replace a equally good player for the good of the next team in the making. Bob Paisley was the architect of The Boot Room, not Shankley. That's all gone now.
Does anyone remember a goal scored by Emlyn Hughes vs Southampton at Anfield April 1971 or 1972, he started the move very deep in his own half and kept running forward to volley it home after a number of passes? Better still can anyone post film of it?
+redmuso47 Was there with several friends from Bradford.1st May '71.Our team,Bradford(Park Avenue) had no game and none of us had ever been to Anfield so went on train.Stood on Kop and were told NOT to stand behind crush barrier 'cos if/when Reds scored...! Also if a pee was needed.go where we stood! Were asked if we'd come up from Southampton, then realised not with our Yorkshire accents!Kop all chanting "Alehouse"at Southampton as they'd been called a pub team by Shanks shortly before.Goal was a belter,1st half, must have been 30yarder.Think would have been goal of season but too late, went to Coventry's Ernie Hunt's volley from "illegal" flicked-up free kick vs Everton ironically! Never had chance to revisit since.

Lot of scousers were put off by his royalist Tory behaviour.
@@robdean704 Thanks mate. I hadn't got that before.

No interview with Tommy Smith then. That's a surprise.

He won the lot.

Stephen Done looks just like Lon Chaney in Phantom of the Opera
R I P Crazy Horse. Anfield legend.
Boy, he scored some crackers!! A wonderful man.
In his younger years, he was Crazy Horse ... In his older days, he was Cart Horse !!!
David Cummings like most players when they get on a bit .definitely wasn't a cart horse at Anfield 😁😁😁👌👌
@@chrisfallon9678 Oh yes he was ... thats why they called him cart horse in his last years at Liverpool.
_Crazy Horse!_ *_YN🔴WA_*
Looked like he loved playing against Everton....
Bill Shankly could always spot a good horse!!
Not a big fan of Liverpool or Hughes tbh but that goal on 6.43 was brilliant
The strikes remind me of Steven Gerrard
No mate, Gerrard’s strikes reminds us of Emlyn!! If we could put both together at their prime……what a pairing they’d make!!
He Is Alive And Living In Cape Town , His Next Life ;)
Like Roger Hunt, he should be fucking higher!!
I genuinely think the reason anfeild iron didn't like crazy horse was because he was jealous of bill preferring emlyn to tommy
Emlyn's biggest drawback was that he wasn't from Liverpool.
But why.did certain players hate him ?
Margaret Thatcher became Prime Minister in 1979?
