Professional quality video and great concise explanation. If these boats just rowed with the occupant facing forward, then I would be on board.

Thx for the comment. Rowing facing forward is called paddling as in a kayak. Rowing used legs for power so facing aft works best.

Love these elegant boats and I'd like to own one. I live beside a loch in the Scottish Highlands, there's really only one place to launch but the slope is steep and slippery and the boathouse, which dates from 1850, is derelict with no prospect of the owner restoring it. So I'm stuck with my PE kayak, which I trundle down to the loch on a trolley I made from bike wheels then drag across roots to the water. We also have a "tidal" range of close to 10 feet between summer and winter wet weather height, which makes launching interesting at times.

P.S. 2:52: You can actually do that with other boats (including inflatable); still, impressive - including the rowing setup.

In answer to your question below, the Tango 17 is a great dual purpose boat that can be rowed as a single or a double, or a single with passengers. Cheers, Michael, Sales Manager, Whitehall Rowing & Sail

Hi Michael, I had 2 questions about the copolymer boats. Do you plan on introducing a line of sailing copolymer boats? Also, where was this filmed? It seems like Maine, but you mention the company is based in Victoria, BC.
      Best,
      - Jim

@@HarryPotter-kd3bh Hi Harry, In answer to your questions, this was all filmed in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada...a long way from Maine! Second, we tried a sailing rig with the copolymer Solo 14 and Tango 17 but were not completely satisfied with how it performed so we currently do not have a sailing option on offer at this point. Happy rowing!

@@Whitehallrow, I paid $200 for an inflatable boat which I have done more than 2,500 kilometres in; most of those, in one go. When I have to spend $7 for patch and glue to fix a leak (I sometimes take the boat on wild rivers; then, there seem to be plenty of shards of glass on the shores and banks), I find that expensive.
We live in very different worlds.

Does the hull drain itself? Or will I need a bilge pump?

    • @haroldaune9160
      @haroldaune9160 Před 9 dny +1

The built in buoyancy means that the
hull will drain itself only when the boat is empty. Keep the drain plug in place. You will not need to carry a bilge pump and only need to carry a bailer for possible use in extremely rough conditions.

    • @Whitehallrow
      @Whitehallrow  Před 3 lety +2

      Correct.
The tango is 200 lbs which is approximately 90 kg. You can see more boat information under the specifications tab here:
      www.whitehallrow.com/tango-17-double-slide-seat-sculling-whitehall-rowboat/
The solo is 150 lbs or 58 kg. You can get full spec information here:
      www.whitehallrow.com/solo-14-slide-seat-sculling-whitehall-rowboat/
With a low-friction plastic skid setup, or a trailer setup, it is relatively easy for one person to haul a tango or a solo out the water on their own.

Life changing is me using paid piloting instruction
and Liquid Force products to give arms a rest. My
control pulling cord won't break until more than
2,000 pound of weight is on it. If anchored or run
aground I can step out for some pulled body surfing.
Also for ride on my purchased Moon Patrol. That
can exceed speed of some motor vessels. Stunt
training is in hard copy, titled: TRICKTIONARY. Yes,
there's a trick to get reader back aboard a floating
boat, which I found in CZcams. Yes, I still use oars,
in calm air. When no pull is possible. I've done my
pull out of Metro Detroit into Ohio and back. Tacking
about ocean vessels found in a so-called Detroit River.
West Sister Island in Lake Erie is my usual turn around.
That is without using a boat. I'm using my Whitehall
in the Salish Sea. If reader has a passport and Canada
allows you permission to visit I recommend all their
Pacific Coast Islands. Friendly people, Canadians.
Use big eye bolts aboard the Whitehall that won't be
torn off when your waist harness is jerked skyward.
