@@lockdownenemy2286 from what I can see, imo, the housing has a certain style of air opening entrance, I guess it makes a whistle just like when one moves their lips and you can hear the change and pitch in sound. In short words it’s the way the air enters which makes the noise

My mate has a t51r hks a real one been sitting in a display cabinet for 6 years was going a a RB30/26 . But those turbocharger are old news about 20 years old
How much clearance for the exhaust turbine when you machine it out ?
Why not just put a whistle in the exhaust end pipe lol :D
I think this t51r sound is just too much. If it would have been like the half of noise maybe it would have been nice.
Can this be done on a gm6 turbo from a center mount 6.5 TD??
And will it be just as loud as the bigger turbo's?
Im planning on installing a wicked wheel 2 while at it, that should help the sound too.

a T51R modification makes zero improvements to performance, it it purely to create that whistle sound.
The top manufacturers in the industry such as Garrett, Precision etc etc would have this as a factory standard feature if it improved performance at all, but it does not
You reference hp's quite often. So, for my understanding, is it bhp or whp?
what do you think knuclehead? They arent pulling the motor out of the car just t put it on an engine dyno to test turbo numbers. SMh

Any true good machinist should be able to. If your 100% serious and have the money why not email turbo labs .

Small frame turbos can be done but the noise won't be as noticeable. Depends on if there's enough inlet material to hog out to begin with.
