    I added Hakbal in the 99 during a recent trip to an LGS for a commander night for the store for my Simic Merfolk (Commander ISN'T Kumena) and it did a lot of work before it got removed.

    The Merfolk deck was not fully precon. Sadly Felix added the counterspells (Abjure + Negate) himself ;)

    I asked this before, and I'll ask it every time I see a game like this:
    Where are the board wipes?

    • @andrewsutherland1909
      @andrewsutherland1909 Před 7 měsíci +2

      I'm not sure if this channel does any scripting like some others but I know some channels will go light on wipes and also allow the players to draw a starting hand until they feel it's good without discarding to make the games more entertaining when the camera starts.

      Sometimes you just get unlucky. Mono-green doesn’t have many so Marie probably didn’t have many options to potentially draw in the first place. Seb wasn’t drawing many extra cards so they didn’t exactly have a great chance either. And Maxime was missing land drops which probably slowed him down. If Felix didn’t have the Merfolk giving the board unblockable it would have been much more manageable.

      @Lazydino59 Před 7 měsíci +2

      I’ve noticed nowadays edh players are playing less and less wipes and less and less lands, and are mostly trying to play more linear and lower to the ground strategies.

    Urza just sat back and let Hakbal take out two of their opopnents and sneaked in for the win, nice lol.
    I built Hakbal as a clones/extra turns deck, focused on making clones of Hakbal, for more exploring and doubling, tripling or quadrupling the attack trigger. Exploring like a maniac allows me to dig deep into the deck so I can get to my extra turn spells quickly. Running both shuffle titans so I don't deck myself. Also Tatyova, Trade Routes and Mystic Sanctuary for even more extra turn stuff...Super fun new commander.

      Very nice! Yea, I was impressed by the scope of Hakbal. Seems like he could be a commander for a lot of shells that overlap and do well together.

      You can run Kefnet the Mindful and Mystic Sanctuary as well to stay a little more under the radar. Plus Kefnet is a nice 5/5 flying indestructible body that can attack and block if you have 7 or more cards in hand, which isn’t hard to do with how much exploring Hakbal does.

    I'm going to assume that the constant mispronounced names is an accident and isn't malicious because they are ethnic? but Hakbal you don't pronounce the H, like "hola" and Clavileño is pronounced "ngo" at the end like jalapeño... is the Ixalan setting really not clear enough 😅😅

      Just noting that "ngo" noted is the soft g (sounding much like "nyo"). It definitely wasn't meant to be malicious.
      It's just a French and English speaker trying to phonetically say yet another formal name, as we keep getting more and more minor characters.

    • @marianocolsin8968
      @marianocolsin8968 Před 7 měsíci +4
