      @@ChristinePi isn't that only possible when both sides give to each other? I mean you can only do so much for someone else before you have to throw away your own interests
      wouldn't you then be totally dependent on the other person doing everything for you while throwing away their own interests?
      isn't that basically the same as expecting them to take care of you without any regard for themselves?
      is everything less then that just someone who only cares for themselves? someone who has different interests in mind other than just yours?
      maybe in terms of singular gestures but isn't that also an accumulation, just romantic and familial favors that you expect the other to pay back if needed?
      as a whole i'm not cynical at all to be honest, maybe i'm just an idiot who's having trouble processing the thought and I agree in some obtuse way i can't see?
      isn't charity essentially a shallow relationship, even if both extremely kindhearted and selfless, don't you like things and people because of personal gratification, even if not technically a physical thing, isn't that a personal gain? wouldn't you be less inclined to give, if the gratification went away, only giving still to pay off the debt from getting the gratification from before?
      I know there's far more layers to it and emotions are complex and have meanings far beyond that, but isn't that technically the essence?
      isn't caring about someone to the extent of giving everything a kind of gift and can be exchanged for the same from your gifter?

    • @unculturedswine5583
      @unculturedswine5583 Před 3 lety +5

      to be clear i don't think people can't care about others without being greedy themselves, just that isn't social structures and relationships even if imbalanced sometimes, still built on the idea of exchanges, of attention and love and sex and romance and promises
      the only real exception( to an extent) is child-raising i guess, but parents do literally have to give up a lot of things( still not everything) for their child( and they get spoilt if you go too far, without getting respect and companionship as an exchange)
      i'm sorry that i can only put this in such a depressing way lol, in practice i think it's a wonderful thing full of love and sharing yourself in different ways with other people but i'm making it sound creepy

    As someone who was raised in a cul t your final message gave me chills. You 100% nailed it. It took many years to learn critical thinking skills. Once I was actually able to think for myself the blinders totally fell off. Sadly, so many people continue to blindly follow the cul ts that lured vulnerable people with love bombing and fake promises. I had no choice, I was a child. However, I imagine that once you fall into the rabbit hole it must be extremely difficult to admit that as an adult you made such a bad lapse in trust & judgement. Many cul ts relies on that internal emotional struggle to self silence those individuals. Those poor people forget that they were vulnerable at the time. I never had that struggle because I wasn't allowed to develop critical thinking. It took almost 30 years to find my freedom. I'm the exception, not the norm. I was there. My parents were stationed in Japan from 1983 - 1988. When the gas attack happened a lot of personel were evacuated from Kabuki-Cho and the Shinjuku districts. The fear and panic was real. I was a student in the Shibuya district. But we lived in the Ishikawa prefecture luckily. The man had so much military hardware from the Japanese Self Defense Force. Including Jeeps, guns, armor. He even had a contingent of tanks and goddamn attack helicopters. He was a threat to the Chinese Triad and the Yakuza. They were wanted to hire hitmen and even ninjas were said to volunteer there skills and abilities dedicated to ending this cult. When mortal enemies, police and criminal organizations come together to get someone that's a scary thing. My shidoshi-sensei died that day of the attack, this man was a father, historian, martial artist, and teacher to many regardless of race or nationality. I still cry for him, all of my friends and family that day. As black American my heart and soul died a little that day. I am a black man who still mourns all the people I lost. I get a lot of hate from both sides because I was a gaijin in Japan. But the Japanese people as well as the American friends and family I lost still fill me with rage. A man who saw a me as just a child loved me like one his own children and welcomed me into his home, culture, history, and family martial arts secrets without hesitation was taken from me that day. To be honest if I was older and stronger I would've taken his head myself, but both of my fathers taught me better than that. So I honor those who died a Buddhist shrine here in America. Shoko Asahara took so much from not only me but Japan and America. If I can understand that, then think about the people who had their whole family and neighborhood taken. Good work to the woman who posted this video and know that you have not only honored Japan, but America as well. I couldn't get to Japan for the last two years because of the pandemic. I am once a member of a cult. My cult actually dimasculinize men. The actual leader was a pastor and pastoress couple. They preach christian and muslim doctrine all fused together, me and my childhood friend got repeatedly r@ped by other cult victims who were taught to be lowly adult members. The women of the group were separated only to be considered as breeding tools and nurturers. And young boys up to the age of 39 is considered as "lowly men" where we should recieve another men seed in order to slowly transition to the adult men we are aiming. So basically we were r@ped 2 to 3 times a day, 6 times a week coz they claim that friday was a day chosen to rest. Until my childhood friend died of rectal infection and the male pastor said "he died bcause he is now in the process to be reborned as a female in the womb of some mother here in our congregation". And he basically just laughed casually like nothing happened. And i just snapped and shouted at him and ran away. I established a group to destroy the cult and we filed multiple cases against them and in january 2015 theyre considered banned from the philippines.
