How did we get from one of the greatest technological achievements of the 20th century to believing that it was a massive cover-up by NASA, the CIA, the government or a combination of all three?, and why almost 50 years after the first Apollo missions, with all the scientific proof available, do an increasing number of people believe in an a radically different version of reality?.
Conspiracy theory’s about the Apollo missions have been circulating since before the moon landings.
One of the first reported instances of people not believing that the moon landings were true came on December 18th, 1969, 5 months after first moon walk, when the New York Times science reporter , John Noble Wilford in an article called “A Moon Landing? What moon landing?” remarked that ― “A few stool warmers in Chicago bars are on record as suggesting that the Apollo 11 moon walk last July was actually staged by Hollywood on a Nevada desert.”
Six months later, on June 15th 1970, the Atlanta Constitution led with the story “Many skeptics feel moon explorer Neil Armstrong took his ‘giant step for mankind‘ somewhere in Arizona”. The article was based on a poll of 1,721 U.S. citizens that were asked “Do you really, completely believe that the United States has actually landed men on the moon and returned them to earth again?”
The poll results showed that less than 5% of responders in Detroit, Miami, and Akron believed they were fake but that increased to 54% of African Americans in places such as Washington DC.
An early common theme was that because of the cold war between the US and the Soviets, the US could not be seen to lose the race to the moon but when they realized that it couldn’t be done, NASA faked the missions and used the funds to buy the silence of potential whistle blowers.
Other ones said that we could never get to the moon because the astronauts would have been killed by the radiation in the Van Allen Belts which surround the earth. This is down a poor understanding of the science of radiation and that all radiation is not the same. As we will see, It’s this “bad science” that is the underpinning of most the moon hoax theories”
One theory by William Brian said that we did go to the moon but only with the help of Alien technology and NASA couldn’t risk the public finding out about this as they would have disclosed how they got.

Wow, I'm Alex & I'm a going to parrot someone I actually think is funny.
They claim they, brought back 14,000 photos & almost 1/2 a ton of moonrock. Cameras were 2 a penny on Apollo, all over the craft, getting roasted from only a few yards away as Saturn V blasted off, on the top of the LEMon, even all over the rovers & they've shown us quality photos from the Moon, meaning it can be done.
So, what do we have? The photos (I'll overlook how fake they look) would number maybe 30, even finding 20 would be a real task.
The moving imagery from the Moon, looks like 19th century & most are much lower in quality that 1893 film or an 1857 photo of Queen Victorias family. Apart from Apollo 11, which is like an early 1830s photographic experiment.
      NOW THAT'S PERFECTION!

They seem to need to be part of of a small group that are “in the know” of what is really going on. There is also an abysmal lack of basic scientific knowledge out there. You can make a ridiculous idea sound vaguely sciencey (is that a word?) and many will believe it.

    • @Yvolve
      @Yvolve Před měsícem

The stats in the video support this. It is often uneducated or poorly educated people who believe in these things. As d53101 said, the lack of general knowledge makes a ridiculous idea sound plausible. Then they consider themselves a genius for "figuring it out" and won't accept any counter argument, because of their superiority complex.
I've seen a few interviews with people who believe and one showed this so well. A guy was interviewed on some weird political conspiracy, when asked whether he had any proof, his whole demeaner changed. All of the sudden there was this arrogance, he leaned back casually, way too overtly and gave this half smile to the camera while saying "you'll find out when you wake up". The line that ‘uneducated’ people are more likely to believe in conspiracy theories suggests that a lack of education is a foundation in conspiracy thinking.
      This is not the case.
Education has nothing to do with mental ability, curiosity, or rationalised logical thinking. I’m sure there’s more evidence to support that ‘conspiracy minded people are less likely to pursue advanced education’, rather than ‘lesser education breeds conspiracy theorists’.
We are all wired in different ways, and for some, that wiring become crossed while it was being installed. The more fascinating question is; why is the wiring broken in some people and not others?

I saw an interview years ago with a "converted" terrorist. In prison for life. BUT he explained his mindset, and it was eye opening. As he was a total failure, in his own mind growing up, the idea that "God" had shown him a "truth" that no one else knew gave him relevance. Gave him power. He said he could walk down any street looking at the mass of fools who did not know the "truth" and have power over them. To the point where he soon realized that they were enemies of the truth. And needed to be destroyed. At any cost. Conspiracies begin with a feeling of being left out. Being seen as a failure. Mind control usually starts with a "beat down". Tear someone down then build them up with lies. I think part of the problem is people thinking they are under attack. That they have a problem and X is at fault. If your X is the government then the government is lying to you. The more you distrust the government the better you feel about yourself. The more self powering it is. The fear is that at some point a person may feel the need to shut off the counter information. In the video the "backfire effect" And soon people want leaders who "understand" the "truth".

I prefer the Methodological Skepticism by René Descartes approach when I
look at first, second or third-party evidence on the Moon landing. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Third-party_evidence_for_Apollo_Moon_landings
I search all kind evidence, NASA, Hoax theories, Independent. I found issues on all of them.
I would like NASA shows us to get their ass BACK ON THE MOON (with exact same technology as they did back on 1969) not Mars. After I will analise all evidence to proof.
Or maybe they can have both programs?
Back On The Moon (The Return of LM-5 Eagle), I would make it with a vintage retro steampunk look. People will LOVE IT,.... and nobody it´s expecting it.
I just tell NASA next time make a more credible story.
The point is that at the time in 1969 was credible, technology evolves and this allowed us to have a different look on the past.
That means, what technology will be presented with Orion Mars. How it will be presented. But it will have to be pretty impressive to convince people, like it was on 1969.
Or maybe they no longer care about aesthetics to make it look real, they will sell it as a product, just like on the Moon story and as Buzz Aldrin does and people will buy it the same because they do not care.
An astronaut selling merchandise? What a sense of humanity that has. An act as noble as this, is being marketed on the internet by the astronaut himself who went to the moon? If I had this great honor, NEVER in my life would I ever sell a single t-shirt, sticker or whatever with my name.
I could imagine the LM-5 cockpit in a dream of Jules Verne, De la Terre à la Lune, or Le Voyage dans la Lune, by Georges Méliès. It looks more like a submarine than a spaceship, but that doesn´t mean anything.
All the footage, I mean all the real footage about Moon landings from reliable sources, some details are genius filmmaking, like the cameraman eye vision..... he really knows what it is doing with the camera, the editing, just pay attention and focus on it, because, it never let you really understand in depth what this astronauts are operating in the Moon land and this Moon Machines how they work. Genius Eye Camera Vision and cut, edting. I clap my hands.
Such a perfect love science fiction epic marvelous fairy tail story, Uau, let´s do it again the exact same way, like in good old times.
Why are we giving so much money to these Space Agencies? We need to first solve our problems here on the ground, and then yes, let's look up on the skies but not with this illusions, but with OUR DREAMS!!
I say NO to this Brainless Rocket Freak Illusion Techno-Materialistic Culture!
USA and Russia are friends behind the scenes for many, many decades, but the masses are too blind to see it yet. It´s the same game as Democrats and Republicans, Occidental culture vs Orient, Catholic vs Muslin, this culture explores Dichotomous thinking, It´s the illusion of free choice, a puppet show.
I don´t think we should fight against NASA, U.S.Government or any other Institutions, because of this or anything else. It was a perfect story, crucial on that moment, help us to breakthrough, but know it´s time to breakthrough again in new forms of culture and society, this world need new ideas, not only new technological objects.
We should claim at least the condition on an experimental basis a place on this planet, where we can test new forms and systems of society, for that we can test, if it works.

That story didn't really surprise me but if you had told me then that 42 years later it would have grown into an industry I would have been incredulous.

I've noticed that most hoaxers simply have very little understanding of physics, like how cameras work, and how earth atmosphere affects judgement of distance and therefore scale, etc. They assume rockets would dig a crater in the moon, but don't consider the possibility that the descent stage of the LM is throttleable, and at minimums on landing, and that the thrust spreads out immediately with no atmosphere to constrain it, and that the surface is firm, etc. It would be harder to accurately fake much of this stuff for the cameras, if you ask me. 🤔

      I agree ...
This "Apollo Moon landings hoax" phenomenon has gained momentum over the years, and now presents a real threat in terms of falsehoods and misinformation for the masses via social networking (Facebook, Twitter, CZcams, etc.) ... not to mention its influence in the classroom as it pertains to the dilution of the STEM (Sciences, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) educational process resulting in less student interest and the weakening of the job/work base in these fields. The "Moon hoaxers" are a menace to society, and again, to the educational process that caters to the STEM fields. They have no regard for that wonderful era that saw incredible technological advancement, and they tear down the hope and will of the people back then that put people on the Moon. They are ignorant of the facts, and have no desire to learn and become knowledgeable of the goings-on. They ignore documentation and incontestable proof of Project Apollo that missions indeed landed on the Moon, and that the astronauts brought back rocks and soil samples for analysis. Charlatans are usually harmless, but these charlatans/"Moon Hoaxers" ... who are flamboyant deceivers, and attract followers with tricks or jokes ... are hurting our youth and society as a whole. • @quoniam426
      @quoniam426 Před 6 lety +2

The problem is that the concerted stupid will be even more radical than the first ones and thus the midinformation campaign will spread evenmore harshly. Like that Flatearth theory resurgence after centuries of discoveries and education. If the Greeks, with no celestial instruments had proven the Earth was not flat long before the invention of the telescope, the computer and rockets, why do some still believe now that Earth is flat. They just used their brains, observation and a little bit of maths. Why at our era of spread information people have less brains than people with primitive technologies? Maybe because free access to information is the problem, w become lazy and control nothing and thus are completely clueless about the process and thus can't settle on what to believe. To remedee the problem, we should made the children do the same as Greeks, same experiments, same protocols, same calculations, make them use their brains, they would be flattered, self confident and would observe the result themselves right in front of their own eyes, and themselves draw the right conclusion. So the awnser is simple, if you don't know what to believe, do it yourself! Easier said than done talking about going to space.
Generally the arguments of consipration theories ironically work both ways, they noeuther prove nor disprove anything. When some of them recreate the lighting in a field at night, they just prove the can set up lights and obtain this or that result, that doesn't prove a thing. If you want to know what a picture on the moon really look like, they should go there and do it themselves, but yeah, they can't, so they get angry and say it isn't possible unless you have tons of money from the untrusted government, therefore it is fake. This is biased judgment, nothing more.
The demonstration of the guy from NVdia was very dramatic and cured me from my tendancy to believe in hoaxes just because I knew nothing of basic principles of photography. In fact, Armstrong space suit has much more albedo than the moon dust, so it became a big reflector on which sunlight reflected (plus the reflection on the dust on the little dune beside the lander) that provided the light source to see Aldrin's suit. Aldrin's suit too is reflective so it becomes evenmore visible. WHen you have no atmosphere to deflect part of the sunlight, each white thing you put around you is a big reflector, you don't even need a secondary light source, your spacesuit is enough !!! Quite ironic. As for the stars... try to take a photo of the stars in the night in the city lights. Well you don't see them, do you? Right because you have light pollution at your level, exactly what does lunar dust and your spacesuit, light pollution. And if you want to photograh both the lunar surface and the sly, if you want to see the stars, the lunar surface will simply blind the film with the contrast. So you must have less exposure time and less opened iris, to have a normal photo of the lunar surface and obviously, the guys were there to see the moon, not the stars, so they set the cameras accordingly. Taking photo of stars is possible, but required you point the camera upwards, back to the sun with no lunar elements in sight to adjust time explosure and iris opening. The best way is to be on the far side where no light will disturb you.
Does it prove we went to the moon? Not absolutely. Does it prove consirationists actually know what there are talking about, no, so go outhere and see for yourself, use your brain and learn about the basic principales of photgraphy, astrophysics and radiations, if people like Newton back in the 16th Century and his pairs could caculate the position of yet unseen planets with only their brains, some maths and observations of the orbital mechanics, you can do the same !

It was one of the most visible events of the 20th century and would have to have been a conspiracy involving hundreds of different people from many different countries including Great Britain, the former Soviet Union, France, Australia, Italy and Germany, from which not one credible witness has ever emerged. It would also have been impossible to cover up for such a length of time; the Watergate conspirators couldn’t keep their cover up silent for more than a few months.
There is also so much third part corroboration; for example the spacecraft were tracked to the moon, the rock and soil samples have been authenticated by many different scientists around the world for decades and the Japanese Selene orbiter and the Indian probe Chandrayaan1 both photographed and or observed the Apollo landing sites.

Now two recieving stations with direction finding capability can give a fairly accurate position on earth as prooved by df equipment in the second war. Three df compatible recivers will give a position of the transmitter in 3d space. My point is if the transmissions were not coming from moon russians or any country to be honest would have said "why is transmission coming from area 51 (or any site conspirisists say)?".

@@marcs4091 A NASA scientist did not say it's not possible with current technology. The more you investigate the more you will learn how things are done. The individual knowledge of everyone involved and the “organisational know-how” of how to actually run such a huge, complex project has been lost. Most of the engineers and technicians are now retired or dead. And on top of that, much of the equipment is incredibly dated, and many things cannot be bought “off the shelf” but would have to be specially manufactured. Re-designing from scratch is cheaper and better. However, there is a price to pay; it takes years to build up that sort of expertise and NASA is going through the problems it had in the early to mid-60’s. The political imperative to accomplish it is also not there as it was during the Cold War. If it is delayed now no one really cares as much, as it’s just another government project that’s fallen behind.

I'm no expert on rocket science, radiation, or moon travel in general, but I know how laser ranging works, how light behaves, and if the whole thing is a conspiracy then sneaky Americans have been breaking into every observatory on the planet for the last 50 years every time they get new equipment, never getting caught ONCE in all that time, and managing to perfectly trick every single instrument in the place into providing false readings, all to continue the hoax. Which is downright impressive. How many people staff the "continue to fool the entire world" project? How did they trick the Japanese into also doing a big fake rocket launch in 2007, fabricating more fake photos of the Apollo equipment? Why would Japan agree? There were hundreds of thousands of people at the launch. Big project for another country to undergo just to support an American hoax from the 60's.

Conspiracy theories are closer to Religious Cults than people simply being wrong. Psycologically these beliefs satisfy a deep need for vindication & acceptance into a community, or, as Charles Manson identified in staggering clarity when asked "How'd you pick up so many followers?" & he said "I didn't pick up anyone who hadn't already been thrown away...(by society)".
It goes like this: Someone weak, afraid & lonely, someone who can't understand the world & can't accept random events, leading to constant mental confusion & a barely registered feeling that "There's GOT to be an explanation, this CAN'T just happen." They are given a simple explanation ny someone, Lizard People, Alien Technology, Illuminati....whatever. They are told that this is a "secret" but that THEY are "special" because THEY "know the truth". On line it's easy to find your email, text messages & video feeds now full of other True Believers who will vindicate their new beliefs & provide a community where the New Convert feels at home, welcomed & loved,
Any attempt to show that these beliefs are false, even when painfully obviiius, will draw immediate hostility & gell tale responses as anger ("You don't want to hear the truth!") paranoia ("Who do you REALLY work for, huh?") even as far as direct threats of violence ("You shojld be careful, it gets dangerous around here at night") etc etc.
They cannot face life without their community & will defend it no matter what, anything you do or say to show them that their beliefs are false are simply rejected. Worst, going back to their community of fellow converts thye will tell the others & they will praise the New Convert's stand.
Most telling of all is the belief that THEY know the truth & one day all the Heretics will have to admit that they were wrong & that the Conspiracy Theory believers were right, kinda like "Your reward will be in heaven". It is a religion & they don't even know it.

Lol anything from NASA is fake. nasa means "deceiver" in Hebrew and their logo has a snake tounge through it 'the lying snake' can't trust a word they say or show us. ALL the shit NASA gives is all CGI IMAGES nothing real. Ask yourself, where are the real 'photos' of earth from space and if you think the ones on Google are real you don't have control of your kind. Every photo of earth from space is diffrent sizes and colors. Notice how the guy in this video never explained away why the moon landing was fake, he's using Psychology to back his claims that it was legit but the evidence is right in front of you with the trickery. Plus there's no way a 75 kb operating system could fly to the moon and back, if so that's means the iPhone 6 could fly to the moon lmao. There's even a video of buzz admiting we never went to the moon to a little girl.. we had to fake it since we could not make it to end the cold war.

My only question regarding the moon landings would be, it's been nearly 50 years, so WHY haven't they been back??

    • @Jan_Strzelecki
      @Jan_Strzelecki Před 4 lety +2

Because that's what NASA was directed to do. Sending men to the Moon is incredibly expensive, and once they'd beaten the Russians there, the US public lost interest and Congress began cutting their budget. The fact is most people can't see a point to sending men to the Moon, so NASA wasn't allowed to do it any more.
It is not, and has never been, a question of technical capability. It is a question of funding. It makes no difference how easy it is to get to the Moon technically if no-one stumps up the money to pay for it. The same goes for other countries - only now, as China wants to be seen as a technologically advanced country, they're making an attempt to land on the Moon themselves (so that's a propaganda goal _again),_ and even then they can't afford to do it as fast as _Apollo_ did and have to spread the cost over many more years.

The Saturn V trajectory took the rocket through the thinnest part of the outer Van Allen belts in a short space of time, so the dose of radiation was within safety limits. Each mission flew a slightly different course in order to access its landing site, but the orbital inclination of the translunar coast trajectory was inclined to the Earth’s equator by about 30°. A spacecraft following that trajectory would bypass all but the edges of the Van Allen belts.
The Command Module’s outer hull was made of stainless steel and the (upper) heat shield from epoxy resin, which along with the fibrous insulation between the inner and outer hulls was a very effective form of shielding against protonic radiation. High energy protons are the main types of ionising particles in the Van Allen belts along with electrons, and not electromagnetic waves e.g. ultraviolet, infrared, gamma etc. Electrons can pass through living tissue without creating much damage as they are very small.
The ISS at times passes through the Van Allen belts and so did Gemini 10 and 11 in 1966.
