Perhaps an urban bridge for between buildings as an option
Fantastic man. Especially that eagle feature. So in regards to the bubbling foamcore.....This is why I avoid the Readi brand for anything where I want the paper to stay. It's designed to be easy peel so anything you apply on top is only as secure as the paper is to the foam (which isn't much). Also any liquid can cause bubbling. For this sort of stuff I turn to other brands where the paper is really well bonded, and save the readi board for things where I only want to foam.

The one where the paper buckled you could use that to make it look like peeling wallpaper over plaster. It is a ruin, after all.
Cut away the paper in places, use a mechanical pen to create the wood slat look in a few places. Then paint brown, drybrush tan. do the plaster parts in a stone white and add some sort of pattern (Dabbing colors) to the area where the wallpaper is left.

you know the bubbled paper on ther failed building ? kinda looks like when plaster fails and starts to lift off ! just put few holes though the bubble !

Realy epic looking build , I use thin polyfilla stippled over foam core for concrete building prior to priming to give a nice texture for a dry brush to pick up on. My first build coming back to crafting was a 40k style ruin that got adapted for frostgrave in the end. You beat me to doing a 3d print window design I was going to print a couple then resin cast as needed for future builds just so much hobby and not enough time to do everything. Great video as always

I believe the ladder is just for show in 8th infantry are assumed to be able to climb and or find a path through ruins.

If you wanted to have stained glass windows, you could cut clear sheet styrene to fit in between the spaces after tracing them out. Do a coat of wash or two to get your desired color (or maybe once on each side), and viola! Glue in place with PVA, using a brush to apply the paint, and you have stained glass.
You could also do something with resin, but I'm not familiar enough with how you'd cast it to fit the windows or if you could put it directly in.
I have used tie wraps for the window . It work , but it's a lot of work.

Paper quilling could work for an alternative to 3D printed windows. You'd have to find a thicker paper to make it with or deal with thinner frames, but it could possibly work!
For anyone without a 3D printer: you can easily find a 3D printing company . You should be able to ask them to use the link.- otherwise they require you to bring your files in CAD

Question: can i use xps polystyrene? Found a very sturdy one which is on par with wood and its almost a cm wide, very cheap and 2m large sheet.

Pro tip: print one of the windows and use THAT as your template for tracing and cutting out window frames. Beats trying to draw it free hand
A suggestion for doing the windows without a 3D printer, check out Nelco Neco's Tiny House video. I feel like her technique of using "icing clay" (air dry clay thinned out with water and glue to the consistency of icing, which can then be piped into intricate designs) and resin could easily be adapted to make stained glass windows.

Complex Window Solution: Use box cardboard strips covered in PVA and bend them into shapes using pencils or dowels covered in box tape. Pins would help hold them while they dry, either into the shape, or on a "build board" the PVA will come off of. Combine the various shapes into the window. No 3D Printer needed. Just more work and a bit of ingenuity.

Or perhaps some clear plastic (like from product packaging) and you either draw on all the arches, or cut them out of cardboard and glue them on.
Re; the window tracery. Hirst Arts has some cool tutorials for making fences using kebab skewers and some kind of extruding adhesive (epoxy or hot glue) over a glass surface - I believe that method could be used to create something.
Alternatively, if you got some kind of plastic grid - I am thinking the kind of thing you could get from a big-box DIY store to go over an air vent - which was not a simple square grid, but had angles, you could selectively snip out bits of it to leave a tracery.
Another option (again from the big box DIY stores) are sheets of laser-cut material (plastic, metal or MDF) which are a grille in various designs. That might work very well if cut down.

This looks absolutely amazing! I have a table full of the buildings from episode 77 and was really looking forward to this tutorial. Absolutely gutted I don't have a 3D printer! Will definitely have to try and figure out an alternative way of making these...or buy a 3D pinter!

Ladders are not needed for infantry, its assumed they are skilled enough to find a way up. just pay for the distance you are moving. I still add ladders to my terrain because it looks good! any small details like that just make it more believable. Great video, I love making terrain and am always willing to watch other people stuff to further expand my techniques. This makes me miss the days of doing everything by hand. btw, I have Nids as well, 15k points without weapons :D I gloss my carapace as well. i.imgur.com/tiVbSY5.jpg

Also the terrain isn't 100% representational of what it would be in real life, because it would make playing impossible. It'd be a giant balancing act of trying to get models to stay in place on top of ruins. Just take a look at photos from cities in WWII, like this photo of the SS HQ in Berlin:

The rubble is piled up along the sides of the building like sand dunes. Rebar, pipes, and fire escapes hang off the edges. Holes from mortars and artillery are large enough for a person to walk through. Modeling a terrain piece to look like that would be cool, but it makes it frustrating when you're trying to have models line up against the walls for cover, like they would in real life. Or when their movement ends on a slope.
One thing you can do, however, is to make "modular" rubble piles for buildings. I.e. piles of foam, plastic, etc. made to look like ruins, but then give it a flat edge on the upright side. Then, you can place them in and around your terrain pieces to provide more realism, without making the terrain too bulky.

Clarifying for in case you not heard about it yet: As far as vertical movement goes, infantry can ascend paths without worrying about access points in 8th 40k, as long as your movement allows you to reach one floor to the other with the allotted inches. Most terrain I'm aware of is built at like 5" between floors specifically so it takes one move phase to ascend/descend as a result for most infantry units.

I believe RAW, ladders hold no special meaning. Vertical movement is independent. However, many rules are left vague intentionally to allow players to play the way they feel is right (when properly agreed upon in advance)
I've taken to covering foam core with masking tape and texture and paint on top to avoid warping.

Honestly as far as rules for Warhammer unless you are playing in tournaments its really whatever you and your opponent agree upon for ladders. I believe as the rules are written infantry and such can just scale walls but it would make sense to include the pathing your talking about as a house rule.
you ever considered using a craft square when joining those walls? it would make holding it in place as the glue dries much less of a hassle
I have, certainly could - or perhaps a CD case if you don't have a square.
Don't cut the wall short, just rabbet one side and your measurement will remain the same, less hassle and a better glue bond on the contact edges.
Very true; I don't get into rabbeting on the channel because my shtick is cheap and easy, for the layman. But you're right a rabbet is certainly the best way to go.
That said, I'm not sure a rabbet would even be doable with this very very cheap foamboard I'm using. Probably need the non-dollar-store stuff...

Thanks for watching! However, I do not believe in 3D printed miniatures. Even upper-end printers and resin printers are unable to produce a result that is remotely close to the level of detail that I would consider acceptable. The technology is still a long, long ways away from that.

Regarding the 3D-printed windows: Obviously it varies depending on where in the world you are, but some local makerspaces/fablabs will allow 3D-printing for free or at cost, so long as it isn't for commercial purposes. So if you _really_ want those particular windows, that might be an option.

That would would be very flimsy. I honestly think as 3-d printers come down in price we will see more and more 3-2 terrain and models on the table tops.

Yes, but it's a little trickier. Use about as much glue as you did for the flocking, since it's the PVA that is causing the bend in the first place.

I decided not to because it would take a long time, and be a LOT of unnecessary wear and tear on the airbrush.

I initially bought some to build RC plane models, but hot glue just melts them, and most other blues have some kind of acid that eats away on the corners so I can’t really build
I live in Germany and she depron wich is some kind of white insulating foam (4mm thick)
The foam for the eagle head? It is extruded polystyrene, 1 inch thick.

I know that Readi Board is cheaper and easier to get, but is there any other foam core that wouldn't bend like this? I assume this is because of the paper on the outside that usually peels away. Working on a few projects and worried about getting some of the bending and peeling issues.

Natasha Kakastan Correct, many of the models on their websote have a 360 panorama. You can find a good angle with the whole arm in view and chop it off in Photoshop.
