Tbh knowing he’s a league streamer it tracks that he’s been able to have an irrational level of dedication to grinding at it. LoL from what I’ve heard will put you through some real mental turmoil so he’s ready

I mean Hikaru wasn’t wrong. Tyler did hit the wall like many before him. But unlike the others, Tyler’s inhuman dedication to whatever he sets his mind to caused him to keep pushing back that wall over and over again.
I mean T1 is just doing what he does with League. He doesn't really improve but just grinds with his insane mentality. Disgusting amount of games will eventually get you up there like he did with Challenger. In short, he's as untalented as a rock, but his dedication (addiction) is unmatched.
He did hit the wall and took a 3 month break from chess in November.

I'm not a big fan of his due to all the raging and bouncing around the room but it is mighty impressive that he's come so far in chess!
Couple things going for him. He has a history of grinding it out and doesnt get mentally fatigued. Probably all the physical training he does allows him to endure such long sessions, while most adult's brain physically just shuts off at every 2nd hour. Also he got that free time like a child. I mean what else streamers do beside game like a 12 year old with no school obligations? No offense.

The only thing i disagree with is that you can't learn this, the mind is a muscle and can be trained to have certain traits like discipline and willpower, you just need to purposefully develop that by doing hard things everyday like cold showers for example.
