When you lower the tire, once it hits the ground, pull it out to keep the cable tight as you unwind it the rest of the way. This will prevent the cable from becoming tangled and damaging the spare tire winch. I have replaced quite a few of these in the shop that were damaged. If the winch binds as you unwind it, try working it back and forth to free grit that can get caught in them. Spraying penetrating oil can help. The winches can get packed with mud, gravel, you name it. If you force it, it will brake.

The little tips like not cranking the wench all the way up, loosening the bolts prior to jacking the truck up, and tightening the bolts counter to each other were stuff I would definitely not have known. Also thank you to the customers that allowed you to take the time to film and instruct.
Solid video. Manual is kinda wordy compared to other manuals I've had. Good job showing how the key works to remove the cylinder to access the rear spare.

You can always mount/put your blown out tire and wheel on the spare tire carrier to save space, or to keep it from getting stolen or even damaged if you cant get to a tire shop for a while.
Thanks i tend to have alot of flats. Its good to know on a new to me truck how to get the tire down. Before im sitting on the side of the road in 100°plus heat reading the manual.

Dear friend, the factory jack on my 2008 Ranger is different from the one shown in the video, where I can place it to change a front tire, since when trying to place it on the strong structure of the chassis, I raise the jack's travel as much as possible. and it reaches the end of its travel and I can't lighten the tire to change it...super strange and I have no idea where I can put it. Could you inform me? Thanks By the way, another question, is the Ford Ranger 2008 spare tire a normal tire that can replace road tires, or is it just one of those tires that only serves to take the car to the workshop and with a speed limit like there are in some European car models?
@VANTAOPT put the jack under the frame. If that doesn't work put jack underneath the front a arms. The control arms. Make sure the parking brake is set.
I appreciate the video. I'm curious what your thoughts are on replacing the spare with a full size and if it would fit underneath? 17-inch wheels with AT country 3 to be exact.

When he fevers to "this" and points he is referring to the lower shock mount. When jacking the rear of the vehicle use this or tge center pumpkin housing. When jacking the front use the frame of a truck or lower control arm. Whichever is safest.

I just did this and I put it about a foot or two towards the front of the truck from the rear tire on the frame. The Jack was almost fully extended but it worked
What your friend told you is to screw the lug nuts on in a cross pattern opposite from each other not side-by-side like don't tighten the lug nut and then go to the next one and tighten that 1 right next to it go to the 1 opposite from it like a cross pattern that way the wheel will seet proper.
Whenever I make a video and my competitor is is Ford motor company themselves with a paid actor, script writers and and a studio full of camera crew and I'm going live no script all by myself and nail it I take I'm doing good in my opinion. The vehicle in the Ford video appears to have welded tab around it which I didn't see on the vehicle I recorded. Maybe you can show me. But like I said if little old me can make videos and the critics like you can only really point out is that I didn't use the factory jacking point. Im good with that. I'll only get better. But just so you know the frame is always a jacking point. So I'm not really wrong. Not enough for all caps 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Thanks, had no idea the key hole was the entry point for the rod, Thought the key hole locked the tailgate.

Any idea where to exactly place the jack for the back tires. The manual really sucks for this.

I think the manual indicates using the axle tube as the jack point for the rear. Personally I would prefer the frame.
