At this point: Tarver had 22 fights (1 World Title fight and 2 Title Fights in Total) Jones had 49 fights (24 World Title fights, 2 are amongst the best middleweight and super middleweight boxers of all time) So Jones had more world title fights than tarver had total fights. So it is safe to say that not only was Jones affected by the muscle loss his mind was clearly right. He achieved everything he wanted to achieve. Tarver was on the rise. Jones basically was finishing his career. One was motivated as hell the other one tired of all the fights and records he was breaking. We all know (whether you are a tarver fan or jones fan) would they have met during their prime years that Jones would have won quite convincingly (minimum 10 rounds). He dominated a more talented boxer in Toney. So yeah.

Jones Jr didn't have top tier boxing skills. Jones Jr was a physical marvel before facing Ruiz. Roy should have allowed his body to readjust to the weight loss BEFORE training for this fight. He lost his speed, reflexes, explosiveness, things that Jones Jr heavily relied on to win. Mayweather, De La Hoya, Wright and Pacquiao are but a few of the many whose boxing skills won the fight against physically superior opponents. Some mistake speed and power for skill.
Judges simply weren't all that impressed by Tarver punching Jone's gloves. He certainly landed several, but Jones hung around, landed some nice shots himself and then came on strong to take it. Roy was clearly a diminished fighter at this point, but less Jones is still more than enough....at least for one last night...

Hopkins is an excellent counter puncher and he exposed Tarver's style by taking away his left hook.
