- My favorite belt array! I explain step-by-step how to create this array that will last you into end-game, upgradable to recycle lower-tier belts as you replace them.

Factorio is a game in which you build and maintain factories. You will be mining resources, researching technologies, building infrastructure, automating production and fighting enemies. In the beginning you will find yourself chopping trees, mining ores and crafting mechanical arms and transport belts by hand, but in short time you can become an industrial powerhouse, with huge solar fields, oil refining and cracking, manufacture and deployment of construction and logistic robots, all for your resource needs. However this heavy exploitation of the planet's resources does not sit nicely with the locals, so you will have to be prepared to defend yourself and your machine empire.
Join forces with other players in cooperative Multiplayer, create huge factories, collaborate and delegate tasks between you and your friends. Add mods to increase your enjoyment, from small tweak and helper mods to complete game overhauls, Factorio's ground-up Modding support has allowed content creators from around the world to design interesting and innovative features. While the core gameplay is in the form of the freeplay scenario, there are a range of interesting challenges in the form of the Scenario pack, available as free DLC. If you don't find any maps or scenarios you enjoy, you can create your own with the in-game Map Editor, place down entities, enemies, and terrain in any way you like, and even add your own custom script to make for interesting gameplay.

I really, deeply appreciate your posting of this design, the inserter array design, and the main bus suggestions for what to transport. You've helped me reorganize my thoughts and come to the realization that effective expansion is impossible without automating the production of your belts, underground belts, splitters, and inserters. I also enjoy your Let's Plays and Steam guide on effective tips and tricks. You are definitely my go-to source for Factorio inspiration.
Thanks so much for the kind words! have fun with the game!
I feel kinda dumb since I can't seem to find it, but where is the video on inserter array design? I love this layout and would like to see one for inserters too!
The inserter layout I previously used is in my guide (steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=661582295). However, I am now using a different structure called the Shopping Mall! XD czcams.com/video/MPUcU37hXH4/video.html

Thx, really useful!
Over 5 years later and this is still super useful, i spent over 2 hours trying to figure out an efficient way to automate the crafting process for T3 belts and a way to recycle old belts and ill be honest i never used the logistics cables until now, never knew how they worked, thanks a million
I love how organized your whole production lines look. My factory looks like I've put everything in my mouth and sneezed it on the screen. I'm really glad I found your factorio tutorials, they're the best ones I've seen so far plus you have a very pleasant voice.
Thanks so much! I had to LOL at your colorful description of your own factory! hahaha! Best one I've heard yet! XD
The first step is making it work, the next step is making it work well.
I can't tell you how much spaghetti my factory has. It's a lot.
MY FACTORY IS ZOODLES

No fluff. No BS. No weirdly modulated/unnatural voice. Just a straight up great tutorial, I hope your channel viewer base grows because you deserve it. Thanks for providing fantastic content :)
Thanks! I really appreciate the kind words!
Finally... I am learning how to play, I almost gave up on this game.
Yarrpen - I know this is an old comment, but the phrase "weirdly modulated/unnatural voice" sums up all my frustration with CZcams content creators these days. Great comment.
Great video, too. Awesome job.
Weirdly modulated voice? Do you mean that robot voice? I hate it too
This is one of the best factorio tutorials I've seen so far. I like how you explain yourself without sounding confusing despite not using a script. Well done
Thank you!
In over 500 hours of playing Factorio, I've never used the circuit network. Usually don't even research it. Thanks to your easy to understand explanation, I just realized I can use the same "limits" principle to deal with light and heavy oil issues. I tested it out by attaching a pump to an oil storage tank, then attached a steam engine to the other side. Ran the red wire from the pump to the oil storage tank and set the condition of "light oil > 2,400". Sure enough, when the tank was just about full, the valve opened and the steam engine ate up the excess oil. No more petroleum production stalling! So thanks! :)
Woohoo! Circuits do indeed make life a lot easier -- so glad you are discovering them! I also wire up my lubricant plants & heavy oil crackers to make sure that the lube tanks are full before cracking into light oil -- it's a good way to make sure you have enough for blue belt production.
wait W H A T N O W
this was very satisfactorio ;)
Haha! Thanks!
btw there is 9 gear factories not 6 like you said lol
now ofcourse we know
we need to get more

Tiago Passarela So this is where Satisfactory got it's game title from! You should be getting royalties!
Finally, a Factorio tutorial I can pay attention to. So many people do not speak properly or have terrible mic quality and is hard to take in what they're saying.
Thanks! I hope it was helpful :-)
That video bitrate though...
@Javier -- this was one of my first videos -- before I knew much about recording. Hopefully it is forgivable!
or they don't get to the point, I watch to see the array not here "hello my beautiful wonderful amazing fantastic viewers, welcome to my channel i'm fuckfacemcfarthead and im going to show you my be most awesome favorite array brought to me by jhonycockinmouth but first please subspecies to my CZcams Instagram, Facebook, sound-cloud, Myspace, grinder and jewdate." Followed by a 2 min stock into video made in after effects.
@@Civilization1 heh
I like this design, and the recycling feature is nice.
"Except change the product"... but you missed doing that on the yellow belt inserter at 8:48 -- and didn't spot the error at 12:39 when adjusting the amount, either. :)
Oops! Thanks for pointing this out! :-)
I was flailing around when I saw that. "Nooo!"
I love how much optimization is in this setup. A well thought-out concept. Brilliant
Thanks!
I like how you actually go at a reasonable pace and don't do the whole thing and then explain what it does after it's built. And you do it for a starter. You're an amazing channel.
Thanks so much IcyFlame!
There are so many things that you taught outside of just the tutorial. I had no idea how the red wires worked, I didn't know the chests could be limited using the little red X. Also the video itself was great. Glad this video is doing well, it deserves it.
Thanks Harrison! Glad it was useful for you!
This was a wonderful tutorial, easy to understand and very well presented :D
Aww, thank you Aavak. I am a great fan of your work, and if you don't mind me saying so, your accent is simply glorious! :-)
THE best tutorial ive seen so far. excellent work. cant wait to see how you do others.
:-)
would you mind maybe doing a closeup showcase of your factory so we can see how you arrange your belts? a lot of tutorials deal with only the macro stuff like green and red circuits but ive yet to see any good ones that deal with things that you only need 1-2 factories for
Are you talking about things like Assembler machines, Lights, solar panels, power poles, stuff like that?
yeah. ive noticed in another vid that you weave lots of input lines together efficiently for the smaller factories
there is a yello splitter in you copper blancer. its driving me insane
When you showed the requester chest recycling the older yellow and red versions from the network you blew my mind. Great video, thank you!
:-)
Incredibly detailed tutorial, thank you for this. I am a newby myself and don't really understand what the hell is going on in other tutorials I watch as the creator usually just assumes I know everything already.
They build a large construction like yours, all the robots come flying in and build it, no word on how that happened whatsoever. You, on the other hand, explain all the small details, even if they only ever so slightly have something to do with the setup you are presenting. Keep up with this stuff!
I bought this game day 1 when it came out on steam and was always starting a new world and then quitting again because I did not understand even the easiest assembly lines, now I might pull through and this is largely due to these tutorials. Cheers!
Hiya Big! Welcome to my channel! I'm so glad the tutorial was helpful to you! I try to make these assuming the person knows next to nothing, since I remember when I first started the game, I might know technique A but not B, so I just talk about all of them :-)
I love your voice, it sounds so professional. It brings me right back to watching the discovery channel with their voiceovers.
Aww, thanks so much!
I've caught you simpin 3 years later
Wow. These video tutorials that you do are amazing! I only started playing Factorio a little while ago when a friend suggested it, and I was hooked. Definitely had no idea as to this structured stuff until I saw your videos.
I also do tutorials, so this is not only an inspiration for my Factorio designs, but also my channel. Thank you so much for posting this stuff!
Oh god thank you for getting right into the tutorial, being really clear, and having fantastic audio quality. Everything i look for in youtube tutorials. may the subs rain upon you.
Haha! Thank you! I try to make my tutorials as I would like to see them -- no long intros or messing around, just to-the-pooint :-)
Great video and explanations. I really appreciated that you expanded onto something already existing. A lot of videos I see are just a completely open and empty area that doesn't show how to efficiently connect to your already existing bases and belts. Seeing your previous build with this expansion has given me wonderful ideas to use. Like the splitter from the main bus that placed green circuits to one side of the belt. I had no idea to force a sideways belt with a belt above would stop the connection of belts ensuring it only is placed on one side. I didn't even come to learn that, but from the video you casually dropped that nugget of wisdom in along with the other great info. Awesome tutorial. Glad I found you.
Thank you so very much for the thoughtful feedback!
Only started playing this game a month or two ago and I've watched a ton of videos. For the first time I finally understand the wires... amazing!! Thanks!
So glad to help! :-)
I've only been playing the game for about 20 hours and seeing a factory like this makes me want to keep playing and never stop, it's in my top 5 games already. It's so OCD friendly at times as well
Just found your tutorials. VERY well done! Clear voice. You know your stuff. Definitely gonna work through the others to refresh my memory now that 0.15 is out.
Nice job! I started Factorio some weeks ago, and now I'm studing how to grow my base. This tutorials are amazing! I love it! For now, I'm using 2 wagons on my trains, and develop my own experimental loader and unloader. After pass throught the campaign, I will use this tips to improve my base.
Continue doing this amazing videos!
Congrats!
Have fun playing!
after watching quite a few tutorials on this game, i've learnt more from this video alone. thank you sooooooo much.
This was very informative to actually watch. I love seeing layout but watching the thought/process of them being made goes a long way.
One of the rare factorio tutorial that is pleasure to watch.
Thanks Hana!
You are legit my new go-to for Factorio help. Thank you so much, very clear, strait forward, and not a second felt wasted, excellent video! +sub
From my meager beginnings yesterday with a simple power system I am moving along much quicker now thanks to your help in all your videos. Very understandable as you take the baby steps it takes to get into something larger like this. I thank you again for the time you took to make clear and understandable tutorials in this wonderful game.
I can see this game becoming quite addictive. As once you start understanding basics you can branch out to figure out which set up works best for ones personal use, and or just trying out new things.
I went back to my first map and had a good laugh at how "unique" I made it. No one makes them like a newb.
I came to listen to your voice. It's nice that someone in the factorio community is actually making tutorials though.
I'm glad you are finding them useful!
I'm sure they are but I've been playing factorio enough to know quite a few different designs. I probably played around 300-400 hours. 100 of which was on a single world with a very very very long railway to get a bit of oil, which was a pain. Keep up the videos, they'll be handy to some.
Nice voice, no BS, plain and simple tutorial, much appreciated and subbed
I stumbled on this video by accident, but you just might make me play this game again. It was surprisingly informative, entertaining and relaxing. GJ!
Aww, thanks! The 0.15 update is coming soon, and contains all kinda of fun stuff -- combat rebalancing, nuclear power, and more! Have fun!
Even if I'm not yet at this level of developement your tutorial is really helpful to organize supply. Thank you for the explanation of upgrade chain, this is a point I need to develope.
this was really helpful i have over 400 hours and this is the first time I've seen something like this :)
Just found your channel from your Steam Community guide to Main Bus. Really awesome clear and concise tutorials. I still have a long way to go with planning :D
Thanks! Planning is probably your greatest asset in the game, generally speaking. But don't worry, that will come with time! Have fun playing!
I just started playing this game, watching you work is mindblowing!
Thank you so much Thomas! I hope you are enjoying the game! :-)
Loved your voice, i do not understand english very well but your voice is so clean i understood all! Thanks for posting this
Unlike other Factorio videos, this is actually at my level. Many thanks!
Thanks!
This is actually a really great tutorial for people who have not yet put 100+ hours in the game. You do a really good job at explaining everything so new people (like myself) understand what you're doing. great job, keep it up.
+1 sub
Glad you found the video useful! Enjoy!
I smiled when you messed up the symmetry at 3:26 and immediately caught yourself. Factorio demands precision!
lol
1000h into Factorio - Both this belt array as well as your oil setup are still my preferred solutions. :D
Thanks for the tips! :)
I play factorio and I use to watch your GREAT viedos.
It's a pleasure to see that girls have deep interest in such games.
Your explanations and designs are simple, efficent and to me very understandable.
Your videos are not a waste of time as many other I find in here.
Many many thanks for your time ;)
Everyone is saying that the video is amazing i didn't find a single bad comment, that good is the video
I'm new to factorio and never used the circuits that way. Thank you for the easy to understand explanation. Great video!
Glad it was helpful to you! Enjoy the game!
Super helpful! I didn't know about the copy/paste thing, and the idea of setting the chests to requester chests eventually is brilliant! I'm gonna have to see what other videos you have when I get off work. Thank you! :)
Glad you enjoyed watching :-)
Nice work, I built this straight away and it's working beautifully. Thanks for the video, it's one of the better ones around.
Thanks Frank!
Flipping brilliant, I've been trying to design something like this for ages but yours looks so perfectly laid out!
Great video c:
Oh btw, could I ask how you cancel the connection of the red wire when you were linking the inserters to the chests without switching items?
Hi Revvilo, thanks! I just clear my hand by pressing Q.
I have 200+ hours in Factorio, and still know barely anything about the circuit network. I had no idea you don't NEED to use combinators, and can just hook up inserters to chests like that. Mind=blown. thank you so much! it wasn't even a 'circuit tutorial' video. lol
Glad to help Jace! I had exactly the same reaction when I found out about them too!
Wow, really good video. I just put in my first belt factory per your design on my first play-through of the game. Really helped me out significantly. Thank you! :)
Brilliant organization of recycling belts I have to say 😱👍
Wow thanks a lot ! This system is an absolute beauty ! I like as well the recycling idea. We never know what to do with all the yellow belts ! Thanks a lot for your video 😄
Glad it was helpful!
calm voice, good understanding of the game :) subbed.
I have over 1000+ hours in factorio, but i allways look of new smart ways to improve on my own designs :P
Thanks! Indeed, I love being within the community in Factorio: everyone shares and builds upon each others' ideas!
It's one of the most useful video out there. Seriously
Thanks! Glad you found it helpful!
Thanks again for the clear and useful information.
Wow, the recycl thing blow my mind, tnx for the tutorial :)
:-)
I second that. I never bothered investigating what the trash slots are for. Now I know.
Aaah i love your explanations - quite detailed and lovely! :D And its a pretty simple build to reconstruct. And also the way it looks is very organized too.
Thanks Schaarenberg! :-)
Boy do I love to watch someone show me I've been playing the game wrong this entire time.
lol! There's no wrong way to play Factorio! We all have our unique building style :-)
Hi, I from Malaysia .After watching your videos, it help me a lot. I mean really a lot.Really appreciate your video. Thanks
Aww, thanks so much! I'm glad the videos are helpful!
Nice job explaining and showing. Looking forward to learn more from you. Cheers!
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed the vid!
Awesome video. My belt factories are always so chaotic looking. You gave me a lot of ideas. :)
Thanks so much! Glad to be of help :-)
Elegant design. Thanks for sharing.
one of many that has been helped big time by this vid!
many many thanks KoS! you're the queen!
Aww thanks! Glad to have helped!
A very good guide. We can plainly see, you know what you are doing and have a coherent plan for the whole setup. One thing I would recommend, would be doing a bit of scripting or at least pre-planning. Every few moments you stumble or fumble or forget something. This is of course fine for a playthrough, but in a quick, clear guide it is a little bit confusing, especially if someone is not very familiar with the topic.
Fantastic tutorial :) Very clear voice and it was easy to follow even for a factorio beginner like me!
Thanks! Glad to be of help!
Subbed!!!!
First video of yours that I've ever seen and already subbed. Brilliant you've done here!
Thanks! :-)
Showed me a couple of tips aside from the setup that'll make my game better. Big thumbs up and a sub.
Thanks! :-)
Amazing tutorial. Really appreciate the video! I like your clear and right to the point presentation 10/10 would learn again.
Thanks so much! Glad to have helped!
Really cool to see how Factorio used to look 😱Also, still super relevant now. I must up my game with a Nice Belt Array 😎
I've found a system that works for me but I think I like this better! If nothing else yours definitely looks cleaner and neater too! Nicely done! :D
Thanks!
you have a very pleasant voice to listen to
Thanks very much!
Loving your videos Katherine
Aww, thanks!
Very nice tutorial. Trying to learn about arrays, and it helps out a lot!
Thanks! :-)
Awesome system, I am going to have to try this in my next playthrough. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks! Have fun with it!
Saw your guide on steam. Great vid.
Thanks! Glad you came over to my channel :-)
I'm new player and it helped me a lot, realised much of the important stuff about chained process
Glad it was useful to you!
DAT VOICE!!! I feel like GlaDOS v3.0 is talking to me. Love your factory display and your tutorials, I can't even imagine how do you do. Greetings from Argentina
Hi Nahuel! HAHA, I'm going to take that as a compliment! (Otherwise I need to seriously worry about being compared to a homicidal robot queen!) Glad you are enjoying the vids!
Thank you for your clear explanations! Liked and subscribed.
Thank you Michael! Welcome to the channel!
Well done. I'll be watching many more!
Thanks! Enjoy!
Your voice is so relaxing, keep up the awesome creative work!
Thanks so much!
I really like your tutorials. Thanks!
Thanks Ted!
over and over i just wonder how people get to such brilliant designs :D
Very awesome and smooth play. Subbed!
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it!
I love this woman's voice, I could listen to her all day, but she spoke really fast..lol I think it doesn't matter now that I think about it....love ur video Katherine!
Thanks! I try to keep my tutorials as brief as possible -- Personally, I dislike watching ones that are overly long!
Using the requester chests to recycle the old stuff is brilliant!
XD
Oh my god... I just got the game last week and don't have robots yet. I have to admit, when i saw that group of robots arrive to recycle the yellow belts, I got really excited, that's just awesome.
Haha! Welcome to the addiction!
love your tutorials its been a huge help thank you
Thanks! :-)
Interesting build, think i'll give it a try.
Have fun!
That is the most beautiful main bus I have ever seen.
I just found this tutorial (2017 lol) but I think I love you Katherine. ;)
lol Poelmeister!
Nice tutorial ! If I would have taken the time to think about a belt array system, I would probably find something similar. But you saved me some neurons. Thanks !
I'm french but I had no difficulties to understand (and sry for language mistakes).
Glad the tutorial was useful to you! :-)
That recycling made me happy, thanks for the tips!
You are very welcome! Have fun!
HOLY OCD
I have never seen something so neat and clean lol
But good work
This helped a lot, thanks. Going to go upgrade my belts now
Have fun!
Im a modded minecrafter, got this in my suggestions for some reason. Gotta say, Damn you are fast. And you know what you are doing. I personaly do not play this game at all but it was still fun to watch! Keep it up!
Love it! Just built this tonight :D
:-)
Excellent video and you have this down to a streamlined science! -I love your voice, btw :)
Aww, thanks! :-)
really nice video brett!!

Thanks! I try to do my best :-)
Finally I'm understanding some things about building efficiently, so you must be good a tutorials lol
Aww thanks Ranz!
That's a very interesting main buss setup. I will consider building it once I can more easily subdue the wildlife on my death world :)
Absolute lifesaver
