Hugo has been a huge inspiration for years him, Steve Perry, Dennis DeYoung and you can put Hugo right up there in the book of LEGENDS! This is epic and Frontiers Music is the one true rock label we still have- a long history of high quality releases and excellent work. My own music is coming much slower than I had hoped, but as a perfectionist (which I'm sure Hugo is) you only want to be your best until and when you start recording. That note at the end shocked even me- wow!

EVERYTHING about this song is amazing. I honestly played it over and over 10 times like a kid.
Seriously 10 times. That was yesterday. I'm on my second listen today. This song and execution just makes me feel GOOD. Every instrument is on point. The guitar solo is FIRE. The drums, keyboard and Bass are just perfect. Of course THE VOICE! Seriously??? The whole band looks GREAT! This is a 10 and beyond on every level.

I've been listening to Hugo and his many different bands for like 3 decades. It's amazing how much he sounds like Steve Perry, and also how much he looks like him. I read an article in one of the many different Rock Magazines I used to get that when Steve Perry left Journey, they were looking for a new vocalist and when they came across Hugo, Neal Schon said no because it freaked him out how much he sounded and looked like Steve Perry. I think it's a shame because, even though there have been other great vocalists in Journey after Steve Perry left Hugo should have been the one. It's also a shame that more people know about Hugo. (I used to play some of Hugo's past music to friends and all of them said they didn't know Journey had put out a new album. When I showed them who it actually was they all freaked out.)

It is a pastiche of "Don't Stop Believin'". Motifs from that song are cleverly worked in to spark our memories for a Journey-in-their-heyday. It is a successful result. The Inflections Hugo demonstrates is ckassic Perry.. His vocal intonation is solid and with a great range.

I record a lot of the music I use in my videos and I go back and listen to it often. This song always pops up next in the queue. I can't write or record anywhere close to this level but I do like that it's intermingled with my own stuff 🙂

My favorite Hugo related project is Open Skyz, from the early 1990s. (My younger sister would probably cite the debut Valentine album from a few years prior to that.) At any rate, Open Skyz released a self-titled debut CD in 1993 that actually got airplay on New York rock radio… even though this was the era of alternative rock. The Open Skyz album is “the best Journey album that Journey never made.” It’s here on CZcams. If you’re a fan great AOR/melodic rock like Journey, Foreigner, Styx, Survivor, etc., you’ll love the Open Skyz record. There are great uptempo rockers (“Every Day of My Life,” “None of It Matters”) and beautiful ballads (“Pickin’ Up the Pieces Again,” “Take Me There”).
I’m not in, or associated with the band at all. I just dig the record, man. I even saw them live once, at Mulcahy’s, in Wantagh, New York. They did basically their whole album and some cover songs, too. They definitely did a sterling version of the Kansas chestnut 🌰 “Carry On Wayward Son.” Feel free to check out the record and let me know what y’all think. It’s definitely a lost AOR gem 💎 of an album. Thanks!
