Lyrics:
Dancing with tears in my eyes
Weeping for the memory of a life gone by
Dancing with tears in my eyes
Living out a memory of a love that died
It's five and I'm driving home again
It's hard to believe that it's my last time
The man on the wireless cries again
It's over, it's over
Dancing with tears in my eyes
Weeping for the memory of a life gone by
Dancing with tears in my eyes
Living out a memory of a love that died
It's late and I'm with my love alone
We drink to forget the coming storm
We love to the sound of our favourite song
Over and over
Dancing with tears in my eyes
Living out a memory of a love that died
It's time and we're in each other's arms
It's time but I don't think we really care
Dancing with tears in my eyes
Weeping for the memory of a life gone by
Dancing with tears in my eyes
Weeping for the memory of a life gone by
Dancing with tears in my eyes - Hudba

RIP Chris Cross (July 14, 1952 - March 25, 2024), aged 71
You will be remembered as a legend.
Ah fuck, I did not know that. Gutted.
Very glad, as my favourite band growing up, that I got to see them when they reformed. Tears
of joy were shed that evening.
An important song in my youth xx
I'm weeping for the memory of the 80s.
Just listened to this song again 39 years after its release. If you read this comment, pull up a chair and listen to the song. It's well worth it!
Rest in peace dear Chris Cross, God bless you😢
RIP Chris Cross. 80's music never dies because of musicians like you. God gave rock n roll to you.

It's one of those songs that elicits painful nostalgia.

Beautiful Ultravox and 80s. I was born in 1980. Im italian.
Im 61 and I love ultravox
Ultravox was one of the best Bands in the 80'
The dark atmosphere involved in this and other Ultravox's songs allied with the lyrics are unique. Great band!!!!!
My god, this song is a masterpiece, everything sounds magnificent.....
Only 80s music can make you want to dance even during the end of the world..

These sad new wave and dark wave tunes were great in the 80's. By the way...I never left the 80's or 90's.
R.I.P. Chris Cross 😥
Thank You so much for Your great music
and thank You my Lord for the time on earth

Dancing and singing in summertime, in Europe, Spain. August 2023. Thanks Ultravox.
hello, how are you doing? it is nice meeting you here.
The 80's had the best music ever👍
yes videos, mini movies, nothing like it now sadly
I don't know what they were thinking when they made the video....prophets maybe?
Yet the song is a masterpiece of 80's synth-pop...solid sound, unbelievable vocals, i still adore it!
40 years old is one of the best songs I heard in my life. Ultravox is my favourite band !!! I first heard this song in the 90s and it was immediately love !! Wonderful this melody and throbbing rhythm! Midge's voice is amazing !!!
Jesus, when did I get old and why will we never experience music like this again?
R.I.P Chris LEGEND
How many good songs have left in the 80s. Over time they leave you with good memories and nostalgia.
That is a very kind way to observe.
😢R.I.P. The most beautiful song
I was a metal head in the 80’s. Just now discovering Ultravox. Amazing.
Metal band Warmen did this and it’s great cover.
Doesn't matter what music your into, if it is popular/really popular then you can't get away from it andstill plays today!
So really confused how your just discovering Ultravox-makes no sense????
The epitome of the 80s, beat, heartbeat, emotion.
One of the best 80's songs.
As a teenager this song always made me cry played it today at 56 and I'm still crying.
Same here...
I'm with you.
What a teenager? I was a chield and now I'm 56 !
You must drink a lot of water.
Hopefully there was a period between teenage and now when you did not cry.
The iconic Midge Ure and Ultravox. Wasn't the 80's just the best era of our life's and the happiest. A fine band which brings happy memories of fun dance venue's, wild hair, leather trousers. Great times xx Love to all Ultravox fans x
The foresight in this video is chilling. 2 years later Chernobyl fallout happened and Pripyat became a ghost town. A time when music videos carried a message. I cherish growing up in the 80’s.
Three Mile Island incident had occurred a few years prior (1979), so the topic was still sort of on many minds ("what if it happened here and there were mass casualties?" etc).
Ruhe in Frieden, Chris Cross 🕊️
For me, 40 years hasn’t removed any of this videos emotional impact. Great song, great video, great band.
Saw Ultravox at Sheffield, and they are brilliant live ... such a great atmosphere, this was the 80s for you!
indeed!!
This and Sting's 'Russians' also to this day sends chills down my spine.
for me 48 it only adds to the emo impact
I liked the video where the couple pull the white sheet over the selves.
There is no modern day substitute for music like this.
💯 true

Einer der geilsten Songs der 80er Jahre. Ich kann von Ultravox nie genug kriegen. Das ist meine schönste Zeit gewesen. 80er Jahre pur. Einfach unvergessen.
Das Musikvideo und der Inhalt ist so traurig, deswegen ist es ja so geil😢
Loved this song upon release. Still love it in 2024
Thank You Lord God for saving everyone in Ultravox, in Jesus Name, amen.
One of the best music videos ever. In terms of really fusing the arts of song and movie, the 80s and 90s were music video gold anyway but this one took it to absolutely stellar levels. Terrific band.
The super 8 footage burning up in the projector was brilliant and heartbreaking.
Closer than we all think…
Rest in peace Chris Cross

hello, how are you doing??it is nice meeting you here.
One of my all time favourites...ULTRA...FOX!
In my opinion, still one of the greatest music videos of all time. No fancy effects; just simple storytelling that delivers a knockout punch straight to your heart.
Especially in February 2022!
What a devastating, yet amazing theme for a song. The video just breaks my heart.
Man, this song is too much. The contrast of the high-pace beat and the darkness of the lyrics, masterful work.
2024 love it
23.05.2023 Miło jest posłuchać jeszcze raz tego utworu Stare dobre czasy🙂
Nawet nie wiesz jakie dobre dla mnie :)
Classic Ultravox! May 2022! Awesome!!!!
Born in 1986 I heard all these songs playing in my parent's car. Aha, Rah Band, Talk Talk, Ultravox, Alphaville, Bronsky Beat, Soft Cell, Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark... They had a few new-wave compilations on audio cassette. All these songs really painted my early memories with some unique colours. I was a young boy full of hope for the future. I would never have imagined society would be such a mess in 2020.
Dancing with tears in my eyes is one special track. I remember having mixed feelings about that one. Still have. It's stirring up some deep and unknown sentiment. Could not find a word for it.
Thanks Ultravox you're great artists bringing beauty to the world.
I am 56 y.old , I am such so same as your parents... Same bands, same tastes, same for all these music so exceptional ❤
Songs like this will never get old classics
As a teen I always felt such emotion hearing this song , but the video always freaked me out a bit , being a teen and scared hearing about nuclear war etc back in the 80s..still an amazing song and happy to hear it again in 2023
Nobody knows what that feeling was who was not there at the time.
Thx for sharing.
2022 - sitting here, with tears in my eyes...
I first heard this in 84 on KROQ and fell in love with it. Then I saw the video and cried....HARD! It just came on the radio and I decided to watch it again. Cried even harder, immediately. Look at our world today. 😪
That is about the first time I heard it ! Also listened to KROQ in those days.

The world Today seems a different place to the one I knew growing up in the 60s 70s It's So Sad how things have Changed 😢

Not wanting to sound like my late father when I was young. They don't make music like this anymore! God I loved Ultravox and the 80's😥
What a tune!
What a vocal!
What a band! 😁
"Dancing with tears in my eyes. Weeping for the memory of a life gone by." Damn, i really miss the 80's...
2022 and were on the very edge again
This song made such a strong impression on me as kid. Still one of my most favourite 80s songs. 80s are timeless.
1980 People: *THE FUTURE IS GOING TO BE GREAT*
2020 People: *LET'S GO BACK TO THE 80'S*
Greets from OCCITANIA :-)
people just forgot that the future might turn out to be a 1984 big brother nightmare
@@DarkspiritLyllianaTV You don't think so well say, as an Occitan native under the domination of the "Big Brother = French State", I know what that means ... Except that it was already the case in the 80s, a triumphal decade for the economy and therefore the French model, in which the indigenous Occitan question did not count more than that of the Dakota Indians in Reagan's USA
because you always have to go to the better future, never stop
I lived the 60s 70s 80s and i was so lucky .
80's: How would it be in future?
Today: How would it be in the 80's?
I heard this song for the first time not even a month ago playing Metal Gear Solid 5, never heard of it before. Definitely a classic in my heart less than a month later.

Wow Midge Ure is an incredible singer still. His voice is amazing live.
This is Pequod. Arriving shortly at LZ.
@@mucke6955 I’m Big Boss and so are you!
I love how Ultravox took on a more guitar-driven sound on some of the songs on Lament. I guess Midge was hearkening back to his harder Thin Lizzy days. He delivers these frantic tunes so well. His voice has the power of the sun.
This song just became way more relevant than it was when it was released!
This song is for my best friend D that died.....the first time I heard this song me and him was playing metal gear v and I put this on, he was like man what do you know about this young buck! This is a 80s song....I'm like shut up D lol your 5 years older then me sir.....now this song just hurts me to my core.....that was my one real true friend I considered my brother and I miss him dearly.....it's only been 2 years so the pain still cuts deep.....miss you D this is for you my friend 💔💔😢
I'm 17. Ultravox were one of the first bands that I got into. When I was growing up, my parents introduced me to all of their best songs and I instantly fell in love. Their sound birthed such a passion for music in me, as I'm now a guitarist and singer in a band. Such a beautiful and emotional tune!

It's the first music video that brings me to tears in my life. As someone who is built close to the water, it is very inconvenient anyway. But I love the melody, the lyrics and the video. Thanks, Ultravox.
This is one of the greatest songs of the 80s.
@@starlight161964 yes of course
It's about time Midge Ure became a Sir.
He was the unsung hero of Band Aid 1985.
Whilst Geldof took the glory, Midge ure was content to stay in the shadows and organise and plan the whole event. I will always hold him in the upmost respect for that.
You should read Geldoff's book about it all, you'll see what and who was behind the whole thing, who actually went to Africa and held dying children and made a lot of the big decisions. Who called and called and wrote anyone and everyone to get the whole thing off the ground. Yes, Midge helped a lot, but it was Geldoff that did most of the legwork and got it all going. They did write the song together and i do believe Midge should get more credit for that
organise? whilst? a sir? the glory? you poor nigel - you really need to get off that tiny england island once in awhile.
So true.
@@chesirekatja1698 history has shown that however much Geldof begged and petitioned, no one took him seriously until Midge signed as the orchestrator.
He deserves it for sporting that tache alone...
The upskip at outro on the drumline is underrated
