    Definition of Girt in Construction
Girt, in the context of construction, refers to a horizontal structural member that is used to provide support and stability to the exterior walls of a building. It serves as a load-bearing element that helps distribute the weight and forces exerted on the walls, thereby ensuring the overall strength and integrity of the structure.

Your making great progress. I can't wait to see what you do with the home project. After you finish working on the pond. You might wanna ask Mike to bring the super stick and sorta drege the outside. Then it'll last you for years if you maintain the pond banks.

I cleaned up my parent's pond using a combination of a chainsaw, Stihl FS90R w/tricut blade. Then I did use a herbicide e.g. Crossbow for the persistent woody stuff. After that the trimmer w/tricut blade every few weeks. Keep any cattails out, or you'll have Muskrats destroying the dam.

I enjoy your bouncing around. Variety reduces boredom. At the end of the pond segment, I love how you played some of God's music. That's the sweetest music on earth. Keep on doing what you're doing.

Also, loved your drone footage from the river view of the light house castle. I have watched every one of Matts videos, but I have never seen that view. Thanks.

    Definition of Purlin
A purlin is a structural component that is typically made of wood, steel, or a combination of materials. It is a horizontal beam or member that runs perpendicular to the main framework of a building, such as rafters or trusses, and provides support to the roof covering and other loads. Purlins are commonly used in roof construction to distribute the weight of the roof covering materials and any applied loads to the main vertical supports, such as columns or load-bearing walls.

Hope that clears things up for you. What you are currently installing is neither a purlin nor a girt because it is inside the building. What you are installing is called strapping. These can be either horizontal or vertical. Every piece of wood in a building has a specific name, for example, joists and rafters, king, queen, jack and cripple studs. If you are working as a carpenter, it will be good to know the names of all the pieces of wood. Using the correct terminology will give you greater credibility in the field and probably bigger and better jobs. Maybe someday you can qualify as a carpenter on This Old House.

Yes I understand that! This video has been recorded weeks before it was released! That is the way with most of my videos. I learn and will do my best to correct my mistakes but this was recorded well before my other video was released!
