- SPOILERS FOR MONSTERS AT WORK SEASON 2 IN THIS VIDEO!!! I’m sure people will understand that by watching it for a bit, but better safe than sorry.
The Monsters Inc sequel (Monsters at Work season 2) has finally aired in its entirety, and wow what a wild ride it was! And of all the new stuff introduced this season, Roger Rogers is easily the best! Such a fun and lovable monster, a friendly face in the scariest of times! So enjoy this sort of “only when the character is on screen” type of video, it took so much time to edit this like oh my gosh. But hey, Roger loves meeting new friends!

I dig Roger's design. The squid-like features and the blue-green color scheme gave a special touch to his personality.
And it also manages to look similar to his father, but Monsters Inc character design has always been perfect, and Roger’s is another S tier design in every sense.

I like that they didn't go with the cliche "he was evil the whole time" twist and revealed he was a legit good person and im glad about that and its one of the factors of why season 2 is a huge step in quality compared to the last one
On top of that, the actual villain characters _remained_ as villains. They really did get me with Johnny. I honestly thought he had turned a new leaf, given how professional and courteous he seemingly was... I didn’t think he’d still be evil by the end of the season. Now _that’s_ what works.
Meanwhile, protect Roger at all costs!
It’s so surprising how much better season 2 was compared to season 1, and I liked season 1.

He’s not scary, he’s cheerful and friendly. He’s a lot like Mike, so he didn’t really have a future in the scaring industry
At the end of season 2 Randall escape prison so What if Randall isn’t the only one that escaped prison and Waternoose has escaped as well and Randall was drawing attention away from waternoose while he made his escape the media wouldn’t know he escaped immediately and just reported Randall escape and waternoose could make his comeback/revenge in season
@@werty21100 Unless Pixar is willing to recast Waternoose, I doubt that he'll make a proper appearance in the show aside from the mugshot that appears in Season 2. Also they say that Johnny is in the same cell as Waternoose so its unlikely.
It’s also the fact that he had the same dilemma as Mike or Val in just not being scary

The fact that Roger is the opposite of his father, I imagine that they have had a strained relationship since his childhood.
Well Waternoose seemed like a nice guy until he was desperate and took very awfully drastic measures. He hid his bad side from others and even then didn’t want to be a bad guy, but he made his choice.
I’m guessing his wife probably divorced him after learning his intentions . and she’s obviously a squid because Rogers does not look anything like him.

The fact that he is the son of the main villain of the 1st movie and he is nothing like him give us so much potential for a potential father-son clashing.
Imagine season 3 where he confronts his escapee father.

We got appearances from Randall,Johnny and Chet so it makes sense.
I saw on the Disney Wiki that Mr. Waternoose was originally going to be voiced by Kelsey Grammer in Monsters University, but his scenes in the movie got cut. Maybe they'll bring him back for season 3 of this show.

I thought Roger was behind the sabotage until I saw Sully picture of Boo went missing, that's when I figure it was Randall the whole time.
A very insightful moment, Randall would be the only one to know the picture is important.

I thought it was Roger up until he was desperately trying to wipe off the paint, he felt like he was trying to remove evidence from something he knows he didn't to.
I thought he was behind it too, I also thought he was taking advantage of Sully and Mike and was hired by Johnny Worthington to frame Tylor so he would work at Fear Co. Also the telephone conversation did look like a villain henchman being afraid of telling their boss they failed. Or Roger was worked alone or Randall was behind it.

I had a feeling he was gonna be a red herring for the season, but I couldn't help but feel so bad for him during the vandalism episode where he was desperately trying to wash the paint off and berating his father, and trying to explain himself. :'( That pure bean didn't deserve that at all.
It’s a good thing Roger is accepted in Monsters Incorporated, and I hope the city accepts him and his name was cleared too.
Technically he threw out his birth name henry and chose roger, not sure if Rogers is his mother's maiden name but it would make sense if divorce was involved.
Actually according to his file, his middle name was Roger, he probably used Rogers as his last name to avoid suspicion.

I like that the main character splitting up low point is based on a legitimate betrayal
It’s a low point built up over the course of many episodes, which makes the drama actually earned and the split up is also unavoidable since Tylor is accused and fired.
@@Endore5000 well at the very least it’s not based on any tidius misunderstanding (even though there is one) or a liar revealed story
While we never actually see Roger interact with his dad aside from the phone call, you can easily figure out their relationship by watching the movies.
Like Mike, Roger doesn’t give off the vibe of a scary monster, and even if he could be scary Waternoose was already jaded to all other scarers besides Sully in Monsters Inc since he was under the pressure of the company shutting down and the fact that kids were getting harder to scare. So it’s easy to put 2 & 2 together that Waternoose would probably see Roger as a sort of family disgrace and didn’t really see him as a worthy successor to the company (which kind of makes his relationship with Sully even more messed up since Waternoose treated him like the son he always wanted) so it’s easy to put 2 & 2 togethe
I have a feeling that line from the first movie applies to Roger as well.

That's exactly why I added this to the WMGs in the TvTropes page of Monsters at Work. Should Waternoose appear in season 3, Roger would definitely have the chance to call out his old man and show him how far he's got in spite of his less than stellar upbringing.
At least Fritz treats him like an actual father figure would. They’re definitely the father/son that they always wanted for each other.
Here’s what I hope we see in S3:
• Waternoose in the flesh - and it would be nice to see him and Johnny interact since we haven’t seen them on screen together.
• Mike and Sulley’s reunion with Randall.
• And the return of the Oozma Kappa gang, Dean Hardscrabble, and Boo - it would be especially nice to see Boo have a role in taking Randall down for the count again.
I have a feeling season 3 will focus on the members of Oozma Kappa. There was multiple references to them in season 2
@@Endore5000 I have no doubt (whatsoever) that the show will get renewed for a third season. There’s still some loose threads that need to be tied up, and I really think the writers are trying to come full circle with all the major characters from MI and MU. And I do believe it’s fully possible that we could see Boo again, but that probably won’t be until the end of the series (whenever that is).
One of the producers of the show confirmed that Boo won't be appearing in Monsters at Work, they want us to imagine how that relationship continued.

He's way too relatable for all of us who are showing to be better than our fathers.
It's perfectly understandable because he shows to be sincerely good-hearted and altruistic, regardless looking suspicious at first. Despite this, I find Taylor more interesting as he spends the season being shared between good and bad (he is torn between the effort to give to children hapiness and friendship VS the opportunity to become a succesful scarer as he was promised since his graduation) whereas Rogers simply decided not to be as immoral as his father. He is a bit the archenemy of Randall which was evil and awful from the begining, despite hiding his true nature at first in the prequel
when i first saw him, i thought that he was a spy from fear co, and sabotage monsters inc from the inside, but i was wrong, it turns out (spoilers ahead) it was randall the whole time
Honestly, I thought the same thing myself.
Roger was the perfect red herring for the sabotaging.
At first I was thinking he was a spy, and was just acting too nice, but then I thought that that would be too obvious and early and that he was merely set up as a red herring character which turned out to be correct.

the fact that he is mr. waternoose's son REALLY make's me wanna know more of his story! what kind of relationship did roger have with his father before he was jailed! what was it like being the son of the owner of a successful scream company? was roger initially set to one day become monsters inc's new CEO?

He’s a lot of fun!
When I first saw him, I knew there was something off about him, from his overly enthusiastic to musical personality. My suspicion for him grew the more saw him in the episodes. At first, I suspected and assumed that he was an undercover spy from Fear Co. But no, I get to Epi. 8 and turns out he's the SON OF MR. WATERNOOSE. And turns out he's the complete opposite of his dad and was completely innocent. Now, he became my favorite, replacing Duncan (jk). Also, THE FACT THAT RANDALL WAS BEHIND THE WHOLE VANDALISM

This show is honestly really great. Stellar cast, great writing and great animation. Hope it gets another season!

Similarly to his father's middle eye since it seems that it to doesn't copy the other eyes
In season 1, Otis mentioned that his family member’s eye was starting to not work anymore, but she had many eyes so it was ok. I think Roger’s top right eye is a dead eye of some sort, but it blinks independently.
And it doesn’t really “look” at anything.

Waternoose definitely seemed to love Sullivan for how great at scaring he was.

Right? I was having a hard time believing it and not believing it because it felt too obvious.
Same I thought he was the spy but thought it was too obvious in episode 8.
He really was, I almost thought that the fact he wasn’t the saboteur could have been a trick for a moment.

@@brianachim2670 I have to rewatch that episode, but I can only assume that he was merely trying to clean the graffiti up when he saw it as quickly as possible for the sake of it, not because he was trying to cover his tracks, but to be very helpful for Monsters Inc so they wouldn’t look bad for the media and thus got messy.

Honestly I thought Roger was the bad guy due to the fact that he's the son Monsters Inc's former CEO.
I feel bad for him in a way. He changed his name because what his father did.
It’s for the same reason people whose last name was Hitler changed THEIR surnames, even if they weren’t related to Adolf Hitler.
That’s why he wanted to not be associated with Waternoose.

His top right eye doesn’t function like the rest, it seems like a common issue for monsters with many eyes. That’s probably why Ted Pauley takes them off when he’s not working.

Roger was definitely a good character. If season 3 does happen and Henry J Waternoose does appear, he should be voiced by Kelsey Grammer since he was originally going to voice him in Monsters Universty. Perhaps he can be like Yokai from Big Hero 6, where he regrets his actions, but still has to face the consequences in jail.

I love how season 2 went, but anyone else scared there won't be another season, because of Sunny and Cutter kissing. They'd be destroying their whole point of the season, but they have canceled shows before because of the gays, and they might just do it again. Don't get me wrong, I love these two too, and I get this video is about Roger, but I can't be the only one who is thinking the same as I do
