Hey man just got a 500! I don’t know anything about them it was left for 10 years but cleaned up nice , has purple plastics I’m going to go with yellow. How rare is the purple? And where do you suggest buying new plastics and seat cover from? Love the videos btw
How goes it?! I'm in a bit of a pickle. I did a motor rebuild for a friend and payment for this was a 86 quadracer that had "2 hours" on a fresh piston, jug, head before it was parked 11 years ago..oh yea it had " no other issues"!!..imagine my disgust when I started tearing it apart..1 the frame is cracked in 3 places and 2 inch section missing by nerfbar mount..the engine was just welded in 2 places where the case was cracked..I took the pipe off and heard metal bouncing around inside..further inspection found the piston and jug were gouged to hell...my question is this..is it worth messing around fixing it? Finding parts is terrible not to mention I'm not the greatest welder and the frame will need expert attention..this quad has sentimental value so I'd love to bing binh this again but idk..any ideas on parts and interchangeable parts? Motor locations..I've been turning wrenches for 25 years so I know my way around but it has been years since I had my hands on pieces of a quad..also if not worth it what about a 600cc engine and rat rod the thing..any info greatly appreciated
Looks like you’ve got quite the situation on your hands. The frame steel is thin and a good welder would be recommended for fixing it so you don’t burn through. The motor might be worth sending to Michael Steiner. He can fix just about anything. That should take care of the majority of your issues. Might be worth saving! The 600cc rat rod idea has been done before, but it always seems to be more work than it’s worth for people and it lowers resale value to almost nothing unfortunately. Just food for thought. I found a 89 with all Duncan racing parts/motor Elka suspension and all in the process breaking it down can’t wait to shine her up

I would say a 36 mm Keihin pwk, it fits right on and should gain some performance and throttle response.
Where’s the best place to get parts for these beasts??
