Brings back great memories of hooking a nice Rainbow on the Tongariro River only to find that a Cormorant took hold of the fish underwater and flew away with me playing it. Lucky it was on a barbless hook and there was quick release mid-air. Like the look of this fly so will put a few in my fly box. Thanks from down-under in NZ.

As someone whose very new into fly fishing and tying it’s very interesting to see the different patterns that there are between American and European flies. Not sure how well some of these would work in the Appalachians but they look too pretty to not give a try

Hi Drew, I think the Stillwater fishing is a lot more popular in this country due to the lack of access to good river fishing.

Hi Lindsay, Seems like a lot of steps for a fly type I already carry a couple of variants of. I have had a lot of success with your patterns the last two seasons so I'll tie a few and give them a try and see if it is more productive than the cormorant patterns I already carry.

Hi Ralph, It’s all about options pal, showing the fish something a little different 👍

Following the Cormorant patterns, I have noticed that on pretty much all of them the differences are subtle. Pretty sure they will work here! The river below me is finally breaking up, but the water is crystal clear, though still very cold. I'm going to rig up today and go give it a try tomorrow. Will let you know how badly they crushed me!! 🤣
