  • Today's video is all about terracotta pots! I personally love how they look, however, there can be some downsides to them. In this video, I explain what the downsides are and how I remedy this by sealing them. I'll show you how I do this too!
Hopefully, this is helpful to some people! (:

Thank you for sharing. It's my first time to learn about terracotta sealant. I am definitely going to check that out if they have them at the store here in the US.

@Paul. If you are using Terracotta pots because they ate cheaper than Concrete pots, make your own Concrete pots. They are simple to make, and you can make them tiny, or any size you desire. It feels great making your own pots. The only drawback is the weight of larger pots! Sealing the pots is so very important. Depending on the size, I would smaller pots Two coats. Larger pots Three coats.I hope this helps?!

You can remove the sealant on the sidewalk with paint stripper. Thanks for the video.

    Good info. Thank you! 🙂
*IMO, I think you should zoom out in the first 7:22 mns of the video, so that we may see more of what you're doing.
I think the greenery of your beautiful plants in the background would also make the video more attractive

Such a good idea and the Terracotta looks so much nicer being sealed! How long do you wait till you put a plant in to a pot you've sealed?

Sometimes a day but a few times I've been in a rush and just put a plant in as soon as its dry. Not had any issues with this either.

    Great video!
I tried this after seeing it and discovered that washing the sprayer after use stops it from clogging!

If I want to paint the pots should I seal them first and then paint?

I didn’t know to seal the pot. Can I seal after I have painted

    • @lisalovesleaves1326

I'm not 100% sure because I haven't done that before but I don't see why not. Having it painted should help prevent it from taking up too much water anyway even without the sealant

Can I use nail polish? I have a bunch of 1" pot. Is it really necessary to seal the outside when the inside is the only contact surface of soil and water.

Seal the inside, including the drain hole, the outside at the bottom and the inside of the tray.
