I had to learn the hard way when to use terracotta for houseplants. In the beginning I killed a few and I didnt understand why. From there I figured out what plant goes best with terracotta. What plants go best with terracotta? These type of pots are great for cacti, succulents any other plant that does not tolerate a lot of water.

I over water my succulents so I'm gonna go get some terracotta today. And omg your watering tip is gonna save my succulents. You are the best!!!!
My bf still thinks his way is better so now we're experimenting with those 2 strong of pearls to see who's right🤣
@@TheAdhdGardener my hubby is the same way🤣. I hope you had a good weekend. Mine was a rare low pain weekend😊.
Soak terracotta pot before potting new plant.
DUDE!!!!! I never understood terra cotta and the clout it got. I kept trying to find videos that weren't too long and straight to the point and I found yours. Thank you thank you THANK YOU so much! You really helped me understand terracotta pots! With my hyper-focus (ADHD combined ADD) now I want to buy every size terra cotta in bulk 🤣🤣🤣
I didn't get why either but now we embrace the terra-cotta!!😆
I think your ADHD is a huge advantage doing CZcams videos because the information comes across quick and keeps people engaged in the videos. (Good pace)
Your voice sounds like Paola Lázaro (Princess) from Walking Dead. 😎
Thanks!! I can't stand vids that are boring or take forever to start on the topic so I'd hope to not bore people with mine
Great Video! I started the houseplant hobby since working from home was implemented at my job. I now have 45+ houseplants. All of my plants are doing great! Most of my plants are in terra cotta. I learned the hard way with my Fittonias. I transferred them into plastic pots and it made such a BIG difference. Bottom watering is the way to go! Let me go do a round with my moisture meter right now. It's hot today!
I'm super late but thats awesome! Thats all it takes it starts off with one plant 😆
You’re my spirit animal
I approve this video ❤❤❤
"Because whooaaa! If you drop it, you is screwed!" Hilarious! I never realized certain plants did better in terracotta. Just never made the connection. Thanks for the info!
😆had to learn the hard way but now we all know
You’re so enjoyable to watch.😂 I love your sayings.❤
After watching your wonderful videos I have learned how to garden with my chronic pain from endometriosis. I also learned where to get the best air plants-Air Plant Hub💜🎣. I also have ADHD and love how excited you get. I hope you are having a wonderful weekend 💜🎣
That chronic pain hits us HARD😑 we just modify, do what we can at the speed we can. Thats where plants come thru to help us smile when when we dont even feel like it. One plant at a time one day at a time🌻 oh gosh the airplants tho😍 happy gardening
best thing Ive watched all afternoon - great vid!! Thanks for sharing your insights
Thank you for explaining the woes of a thirsty terra cotta pot ..great video well done 😊.
I love this! Thank you for keeping it real! New follower here!
Thank you! I’m about to repot some of my plants now. 💚
They certainly are helpful with certain plants!🌻
Just found this video and I love it! You speak the way I think😂😂 very helpful!
Thanks!😁🌻
I have all my jade trees and snake plants in terracotta 🥰
Thank you so much! I found your information so more informative!,, you gave info that was very explanatory !,
Thanks so much!🌻
Thank you, thank you, thank you !!! Such great info, like all your videos😃 you always keep it 💯 what works and what doesn't. You are helping me become a better plant mom 💟 I appreciate all your knowledge. I tell everyone I know who loves plants to check you out! Thx for sharing!... I am adhd too I'm practicing being mindful ✌
Omg I'm sorry I didnt see this comment earlier! Thanks so much I appreciate it!
Awesome👍
Glazed terracotta pot is also an option, it won’t be as porous but also not as humidity trapping like a plastic pot.
Good point!
Glaze inside to keep terracotta look.
When I lived in SoCal, I only had succulents--lots of aloes and jade plants. I kept them outside in terracotta pots with terracotta plates underneath. I top watered once each week and they thrived! I always poured out whatever poured out into the plate, thinking it wasn't good for them to sit in water, afraid of root rot. Was I wrong about that? The little ones I had indoors in plastic inside a decorative ceramic pot...not so much luck. I now live in Tennessee and can't keep plants outside in the winter as I did in California. My pothos/philodendron and monstera do better in plastic or only in water, no soil. I spill out water that sits underneath in the plate. But my succulents all died inside! I thank you for explaining the whole terracotta soaking up the water thing! I will never put an indoor succulent in a plastic or undrainable planter/pot again! And maybe I can try butt chugging them, too...?
Well... I love terra cotta. It works for my cactus and philodendron plants. Now my crotons are in plastic pots and my dragon trees and yucca trees are in plastic pots. Im going to put my rattlesnake Calethia into a terra cotta. Idk...im experimenting too!!
Great video! You are so funny😄❤️🌿🌵
My issue in the flat the soil never dry out just after 2-3 months. I tried so many different soil but doesn’t matter. So clay was only things helped
Great video
You're great!!! You just save my Calashea's . Thank you .
No prob!!🌻
Love your personality
Thanks🌻❤
Earned a sub just because butt chug is a hard thing to say with and you did it grace❤😂
I just got a Hoya rope plant already in a terracotta pot. I was searching for a video that would tell me if my bottom watering was working because the soil did not seem to be getting moist🪴Now I get it!
Good to know
I top water my succulents, but make sure they are reeeeeally dry in between the waterings.
I've been getting the hang of it after many plant deaths..bare minimum water lol
If youre not from New York, then Ima have to have my card revoked.
😆 I'm from the inner city in Jersey(Newark) I lived by Penn Station so I spent all my time in NYC n even worked there for a while. I love NYC🌻
@@TheAdhdGardener Ok, Tri-state area counts! 👍🏽 Btw, this info was very helpful, as I had mold(?) growing on the outside of my terra cotta from overwatering a plant that eventually still died, so I got rid of everything inside, washed & dried pot and so now this time thanks to you, I'll know what to do. Thx!
Succulents...I use 100% pumice if they are in glazed or plastic pots 🥰
You are so 😎
Thanks😁🌻
i use terracotta pots to start my seedlings so i can bottom water easy.
Wwhhaattt starting seeds in terracotta?! How often u bottom water?
@@TheAdhdGardener im still dialing it in but so far its every other day. my set up is a bit thrown together, some shallow totes that are 10x20 equivalent and a load of dollar store terracotta pots , i believe 36 is what counted per tote. and aquarium water from water changes.
@@bigjohn6458 thrown together or not, u getting down n dirty with gardening n thats what matters. Besides half the fun is experimenting 😁🌻
You’re cute. Love your video and beautiful smile.
Butt chugging? 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
