The ending 🔥
Official video is the best one because they extend the sickiest riff at the end
Remembrance next
?
You will anyways haha. I still liked the vid
Why are you bullying me
*Clone* (will restore your faith in Gojira)
*Remembrance!!!!!!* (will restore your faith in Gojira)
*Yama’s Messengers* (double bass pedals)
*Esoteric Surgery* (double bass pedals)
*The Way Of All Flesh* (melody)
*Wolf Down The Earth* (melody and double bass pedals)
*Oroborus* (tapping)
*Magma* (melody)
*Pray* (technicality)
Yes dude. This is what ive been trying to tell him...
jdecore i agree, the energy in that place is INTENSE
Agreed 🙌🏼
Not a bad list. Esoteric Surgery is my all time fav Gojira track. Drumming is just filthy
Remberence !
the albuns transitions is pretty smooth, its just the video that you got that cuts it badly
They blend together seamlessly on the album, give it another listen on Spotify. Really sucks that you got that video as it really does ruin the whole feel of the two connecting.
There are a ton of songs of gojira that i just appreciated after hearing a couple times, that is one of them. I am a huge gojira fan and even nowadays i find something on a track that i had never noticed.
Wolf down the earth is my favorite, i hope you listen one day
appeasedbeast no that is a song that I wouldn’t expect to hear anyone say is their favourite but it’s refreshing to hear someone with an opinion such as this. I don’t think there is a single bad gojira track and wolf down the earth is a great track
wolf down the earth is so underrated!! such a powerful song
I can hear Esoteric surgery calling for you. It is a better song I promise lol it's groovy and heavy and pretty creative.
Trueeeeeee. Plz vote for this yall
The man has spoken
If he wants groove The Link is the way to go, the grooviest album that no one ever reacts to
THIS SONG IS A FUCKIN VIBE
I think Esoteric Surgery is a great song but I do not agree at all that it's a better song. This is probably my favorite Gojira song. Super heavily influenced by Morbid Angel.
Gojira - Wolf down the earth
World To Come leads into these two tracks very nicely
Yes, Drew, give it a listen on your own time. I think this album will grow on you. But, time to check out all the suggestions in these comments. And please try:
Power Trip - Soul Sacrifice
Power Trip - Crucifixation
Power Trip - Divine Apprehension
Power Trip - Hornet’s Nest
Power Trip is excellent thrash metal.
World to come happens to be the most diverse song on the album and like the only one drew didn't react to lol
Space Time from Gojira! It's from their first album "Terra Incognita." The lyrics are epic, the groove is awesome, you are gonna love it :)
I think you should check out “Rivers of Nihil’s” song, “The Subtle Change Including the Forest of Transition and Dissatisfaction Dance.” It is of the “Where Owls Know My Name” album. The record is epic and that song sums up the vibe throughout as it is in the middle. I promise you will want to listen to the whole record after it.
Agree
Yes, best metal album of 2018. But I would start with The Silent Life.
Gojira Clone
This was a really poor edit, there is no silence in the actual album version and the whole thing seems like one song there. Listen to it on spotify or other means to get the real experience!:)
I think the same Is better to hear as It comes in the album
Too bad you focused on the transition between the two tracks as its very smooth on the album, this particular video just sucks
Clone - gojira
From Mars to Sirius was a hard one for me to get into initially. After listening through the rest of their discography, and coming back to this, I appreciated it more the second time through. As an introductory album, it's probably not as accessible for most. I'm gonna say this under every one of your videos. Terra Incognita, and The Link are amazing albums and great places to start with Gojira.
Small Guy in a Big Coat I’d say those records are even less accessible. Although I wish more people would dive into those records..
@@craigharrelson2908 I dont know, to me those albums clicked right away. The grooves were more raw and less punishing.
I was the opposite lol. This is the only album I've EVER listened to that absolutely blew me away from first listen
Small Guy in a Big Coat
Honestly it’ll always come down to taste and perspective. I was a well seasoned listener when I first heard their first two records. I just think that with them being more raw and “brutal”, along with the production and a more death “metal-y” base make those harder to grasp for new listeners or beginners.
Weird, for me it was the opposite because the riffs are groovy, straight forward, and the structure isn’t that complicated to me
Proper transition was cut on the video you listened to
Heavy Gojira recommendation - Space Time, Love or Fire is Everything
Heavier other - Black tongue - Parting soliloquy or Second Death
Ty for reacting to the songs Drew much love man ❤️❤️
The reason that the change was weird is because on the album its actually two songs. The vid you watched was the two songs played one after the other, when playing the full album in one go it sounds much more fluid.
Oroborus from the album "the way of all flesh". !
Booom🔥you're the best for doing the best🤘
Those two songs made the real behind the gojira's emotion
Also, Oroborus is a must listen:) thanks again!
I so respect your opinion. Thank you for reviewing this beautiful music. 🙏
I love your content, man. Keep it up, you make my days better
Appreciate you finishing the album, thank you very much! Love the reactions, the video is the reason the song didnt transition, in the album and on spotify it blends perfectly, it's just the video! Anyway thank you my man:)
Bro....you dont have to expain yourself. We know where your coming from on your reactions regardless of whether or not you enjoy the song or not. Thanks for the reaction!
i hope and think that im not only speaking for myself but for a lot of other ppl when saying that we dont watch your videos to see you get hyped over every song (thatd get boring) i for example also enjoy the thoughts or ideas of other ppl even if they arent the most positive, because thats just widening my (our) horizon to see even more facettes of a song!
and for gojira….they are a special kind. after years you suddenly notice something new or suddenly one of their ok songs just clicks really hard with you. sometimes you need to be in the right mood to enjoy a certain song so thats another reason I (we) dont expect you to absolutely love every song. (and thats not only related to gojira)
anyway keep rockin \m/
GOJIRA - VACUITY I sincerely think you’ll enjoy it is very good for starters 🤪🤪🤪🤪
This is one of the most underrated Gojira songs. This was the first one I got into so it will always hold a special nostalgia for me.
Mouth of Kala is the heaviest Gojira song imo. Into the forest is pretty damn fun to listen too as well.
After Explosia, you should definitely check out or react to The Way Of All Flesh album.
This makes me even more curious how you like Katatonia. I really appreciate that you say your honest opinion
Caligula's Horse - "Valkyrie"
Hey drew could you react to vacuity i think youd really like it and also i think once you get around the style they do you might start to like the songs that didnt click with you sometimes it just takes a bit to enjoy them
So happy to see you enjoying gojira after tons of recommendations ,Keep it up
Hey drew,
Its good that you are always honest about if you like something or not. For me that is why i like your channel so much - The honesty.
As i said before i think the Album The way of All flesh could be your next gojira project.
It also would be nice if you could check out the band kataklysm with their songs 'like angels weeping', 'crippled and broken' and 'as i slither'.
Maybe you also could Do Some more Korn. So far you only did The one Song by them. I suggest the Song 'freak on a leash', thats not too crazy. 'Thoughtless' is another popular song by them.
Cheers
Big metalhead here: everyone has their preferences in what hooks them. Everyone has the way they enjoy the music they listen to. Songs like To Sirius used to be super difficult for me to REALLY get into for the same reason as you. If I didn't feel that rhythm, I couldn't vibe. If I couldn't fill the space of the song with myself, and be the song in that way, I found the song difficult to listen to. Along the way somewhere, I've found an appreciation for songs I can't seem to fill up with myself by realizing that rather than trying to match that rhythm, I allow myself to be washed away by it.
I like to envision the space between the drum beats and guitar strums as waves. Kinda thematic for this album, haha. So, with To Sirius, it's almost like being stuck in this rough, relentless, inconsistent, and chaotic ocean. The changes in rythm and tempo are much like an ocean in a storm. The waves never rise and fall quite the same way. They keep changing and all you can do is be swept along with it.
So, in a sense, rather than feeling like I am a part of the chaos, I am an observer in awe of what it is, powerless to change it, much like you would be in awe of a massive storm, huge mountains that defy imagination, or maybe even a monster that breaks the minds of people, if that's what catches your fancy.
I know not everyone can enjoy music this way, but that's what got ME to enjoy metal I had a hard time finding a handle on.
Sometimes I'm a powerless observer swept up into the madness rather than a willing participant that embodies the chaos.
Nice explanation/point of view idk lol but nonetheless really good way of explaining that
Lets gooooo
My favorite Gojira album is L'anfant Souvage then The Way of All Flesh!!
The transition of the songs on the album is flawless. It's what makes it worth listening to back to back. There is no pause it goes straight into "to sirius" it just sounds like 1 big song
Power Trip - Soul Sacrifice
Power Trip - Crucifixation
Power Trip - Divine Apprehension
Power Trip - Hornet’s Nest
Please :)
No idea how you can sit still while listening to so much of this band! I usually end up moshing around the kitchen lol! Also, most of their songs reward repeated listening. Glad you’ve checked them out!
Broooo siiick im so hyped thx for doin it!
The album record itself it instantly starts theres no pause spotify.
Same here theres same trqcks i didnt listen to lol i heard them a few times but now i can say i know every part of the song
Drew! Glad you enjoyed Gojira enough to check out the whole album! Now check out Maximum the Hormone - Yoshu Fukushu already 😜
Gojira - Love
Explosia will definitely reignite your love for this band
Still lots of great gojira songs left for you to experience. Oroborus, as many have suggested, is awesome. I'd like to suggest mouth of kala, planned obsolescence, or even remembrance (live, there's an awesome video on youtube). L'enfant sauvage has really good songs, as does way of all flesh. Keep up the great vids!
I think the album Magma will be right up your street, especially the song Lowlands.
At least you had a break this blew my head off the first time hahahaha
Oh God yes! I've lost my hope of ever seeing this reaction. Thanks! That's the first song I've heard from Gojira, and I remember being absolutely obliterated by it. Been fan ever since.
I am Shure it click with you at some point:) there's so many hidden gems inside this album, but it's not easy first listen!
I was already into metal when I stumbled into Gojira and all I can tell you the polyrhythms and switch-ups are an acquired taste, they will slowly grow up on you. The good part about that is that you kinda find something new to enjoy as you listen more to their tracks, some things just start to make sense as your brain starts to "read between the lines".
Now that From Mars to Sirius is out of the way,you should definitely continue doing the other albums.
I love how you say so when you don'z like a song. Although that makes me wanna throw more songs at you until you like Gojira as much as I do haha
Drew, man, let me just say THANK YOU for sticking with the heavier stuff as long as you have, knowing that this isn’t necessarily your cup of tea. Metal is definitely an acquired taste, and as you’ll hear people say, with metal you typically have to walk before you can run. The intensity, the vocals, the rhythm and tempo change ups all tend to drive the casual listener mad - which is why most of us understand what you’re getting at here. You’re definitely wading into the deep end of the pool with Gojira and some of the heavier bands you’ve listened to, so props for that. We like seeing these vids but don’t realistically expect you to do all of your reactions to this brand of music, but it’s still awesome to see you jam out to some of it! 🤘
Remembrance from the link alive video. As a drummer, it’s one of my favs.
Also do Pray and Only Pain by them, they have a lot more groove and get you to jump around your room during the chorus
Gojira - Only Pain
Gojira - Pray
Gojira - The Cell
Their later stuff is more easy-to-listen-to , so you might enjoy it more
These songs are so good..from mars is absolutely a favorite, I cant get enough of those layers.
Now do Fit For An Autopsy. ;)
I get that Unicorn was overlooked since it's just a short instrumental, but why was World to come left out? :o It sure isn't the best track but I believe it's very underrated. I love it.
It will be great if you listen to the album from start to end in one go (maybe twice) and then make a vid with your final opinion. I think a lot of their music might sound different in this context and when you're already kinda familiar with the music and lyrics.
Just saw your reactions to BabyMetal.
Band-Maid: all-female Japanese metal band in maid cafe outfits.
You need this in your life.
My absolute fave Gojira album. Global Warming is just 👌🏼
When I discovered Gojira, at first I wasn't much attracted. It took some time to come back and listen to some more their tracks, to appreciate. Some time later I found myself with their whole discogrpahy, listening to them while walking, cooking and before sleep) I was amazed with music first of all. Structure, transitions, combination of instruments, change of rhythm and meters. Honestly, i don't like lyrics that much and Joe's vocal sounds rather as one of instruments.
But Gojira wasn't the first prog metal band for me, first was Hacride. They are French and they are progressive. I believe you also may find it worthy. To some extent they sound bit more agressive in vocal technique (especially older albums), but I doubt to say, often more diverse in composition. They even managed to combine classic spanish guitar with overloaded guitars (Zambra). Guitars! Adrien Grousset is amazing. It is difficult to recommend something giving an impression of what is Hacride music is. Apart from Zambra, but Zambra is extraordinary. Maybe Edification Of The Fall in general, Vision Of Hate for change of rhythm and meters, Overcome for guitar drive, Requiem For a Lullaby for clear vocals and motivational soul lifting lyrics.
OPETH - A fair judgement please... :)
Gojira - Pray 🔥
I know what you say that you dont really like it and that it's hard to fined the moments you can headbang because I was there as well, but now whoever I consider myself a metalhead I fined this album to be a masterpiece. The thing that I really like about you is that your not a metalhead and yet you still appreciate the musicians work unlike allot of other nonmetalheads that just go "this is just screaming, anyone can do this". Keep the god work going love the content.
I agree; a couple of time-shifts in the end of To Sirius don't work as well as we are used to by Gojira. For the album as a whole, it doesn't really bother me.
Something different; Try Cult of Luna. A live experience will 'explain' the band quicker: czcams.com/video/WBi3S4dyMTc/video.html
Pretty intense, but I guess you'll like it.
Oroborus. Best intro to an album in a long time.
Check out Rivers of Nihil. They are also really progressiv you would love their latest Album.
I know you got all into that album but I'm surprised that you haven't done Oroborus, it is one of their top rated songs in my opinion and I think in general... I think it's the first song on the next album after From Mars to Sirius and it kinda shows, were changing things up this album and it was a big success I think in that logic
Has to be the Brixton Academy performance of Explosia though
Literally my favorite album ever. It's a masterpiece
Just some recs.. 😆
Katatonia - Forsaker
Wolfheart - Zero Gravity
Architects - Doomsday (please follow up with Doomsday by Choir Noir , goosebumps guaranteed!)
You should definitely dive into Lamb of God. Ashes of the Wake album particularly.
20 years later...
Another great honest set of words and reactions. There is no point in uploading up a reaction video and going "OMG, this is not what I expected!", and overacting an exaggerated reaction, like what ya get up on youtube too much. You are totally right in saying that other channels do that- Ive seen it so many times with people over reacting to Tool videos. You can tell they dont really like it, but over react as though they love it, because they know it will get views. You give a constructive , positive critique open for conversation and response here. You tell the truth - nay, the " Drewth!"
From what Ive heard, Gojira's earlier albums are heavier that this song you heard here , so I dunno if that could be what you are totally after. A modern metal band that is chock a block full of catchy vocals, insane musicianship , technically amazing solos, progressive elements , and some shouting vocals to add to it all is Trivium. Ive mentioned 'em before to ya, but their new album "What the dead men Say" is great. The title track itself is super.
That aside lad- with some sides to the Lockdown easing up over the next week, lets hope it goes to plan and that there isnt any fallback from it. Good luck with tings up in Áth Cliath over the time ahead.
Vacuity by Gojira
Opeth A Fair Judgement. Do it drew..
Please, just please try something else, you’ve stuck with the Album From Mars to Sirius, that’s why it all sounds the same and i completely agree. But you have to switch it up. Please go see anything from the link alive, it’s a different Gojira, even heavier, but so much more raw. You’ve only heard 1/4 of their tracks. I’d recommend you these, can’t go wrong with any of them.
Remembrance
Embrace the world
Space Time
In the Forest
Blow me away you
Lizard skin
(All from The Link Alive concert, these are all gems)
Oroborus
(Eurockenes concert)
Wisdom comes
(Brixton)
Trust me, these are worth it.
I am not a metal head, at all. But this Gojira together with Tool and Deftones are the top of the top for me.
One of their more underrated songs, great choice
Okay you need to do Sepultura - Dead Embryonic Cells, right now
If you want a heavy Gojira song you should react to Remembrance. At this song you should do the studio version and the live version from The Link Alive!
Can't believe you're not gonna listen to World To Come, the commercial track of From Mars to Sirius lol, soooooo...
Go back to SlipKnot for a bit for us..? Pretty please?
The Negative One will thrust you back into their world. Phenominal track and it's one of their newer tunes
Simon BeeHYPE I agree, just reminiscing on drew loving them so maybe he’ll enjoy his reactions a bit more, he’s a bit flat he needs rejuvenation
I'd love to see you react to some of Whitechapel's stuff
Songs with tricky transitions take time to like.
The biggest problem with reacting to music on a channel is you take it on a song by song basis. Listening to a record is the best way to take it in. When I hear a song I like, I want to hear the rest of the work created along with that track. Don’t have to wait for recommendations. Imo it’s the best way to process a bands work, acquire taste, and your perspective will more than likely shift as well. Picking out layers and nuances are an acquired skill. You can headbang to a blast beat, but recognizing that groove takes time and or practice. And unconventional sounds can become even more appealing.
One word. "Magma"
You should react to Pink Floyd - Echoes live at ponpeii!
Protest the Hero- Bloodmeat. Kickass metal band with more melodic vocals
Gojira-remembrance
It would be cool of you revisited Pantera with the song Floods, just make sure not to listen to the crappy version that skips at random points in the song.
Yes floods please
Esoteric surgery, Oroborus, or vacuity. The way of the flesh is the album
World to come nooooooo 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
Gojira - Esoteric Surgery
lol knowledge nugget about me: I used to think it was pronounced “from Mars to Cyrus” cuz I was a dumb fuck
Dying fetus - in the trechens ... been asking for this one for a long time
I got into Gojira from Magma (2016) which I loved. I started going through their discography from the beginning and I'm up to this album and I haven't liked any of it.
Come on Drew it’s time for “space time”
Whoever made the video you were watching really screwed up by not having To Sirius start immediately as From Mars ends. It's how it is on the album and how it was intended to be heard. My first listen through of the album I didn't even realize it was two different songs. I honestly thought they just threw in one really long song in the mix.
