  • This automated model features a miniature version of me operating an (equally) miniature version of my ESLA lantern - the idea being that I am pressing the override switch on the Sangamo time switch housed in the column base. A small neon discharge lamp serves as the lantern's source of illumination.
The model was a birthday present from a few years ago, and was made by the Victorian Model Workshop ( victorianmodel... ), based at the Ferrers Centre at Staunton Harold Hall in Leicestershire.

This is actually a good model of the immediate startup appearance of an ESLA that had been adapted to take a 10W or 18W LPS/SOX lamp.

You won't be surprised to learn that others have made the same observation in the past!

Well your very historic old classic street lighting column what is outside of your house is now emotified into a miniature model what actually moves (but not a static one what doesn't light up) including your very classic 1950s G.E.C. DIOPTRION MERCURY REFRACTOR LANTERN currently fully working & on display. From Viatron from Sheffield.
