Hey Jon, great video! And thanks for the mention. I hope you and your family are having a good Christmas and New Years! These are pricey for sure, but I do love my Twinkly lights! 😊 I've been slowly adding more over the past few years. They have almost become a part our holiday tradition. I was very happy, and surprised, by the update to support HomeKit this year. I've been waiting for a few years for that. Hopefully they'll find a way to add the effects to HomeKit as a custom attribute or something like that, so we can create scenes with different effects. That would be really cool.
Thanks for watching Shane! Hope you and the family are good and having a loverly time. I agree, they are good and I do love them. I think it’s that I am very tight when it comes to spending 😂
DUDE WHEN I TURN INTO 19 YAER'S OLD I WOULD BUY A load of string lights FROM STORE TO STORE!!!!!!!! TO DECORATE MY INTIRE ROOM WHEN I CALL IT MY NEW HOUSE WITH STRING LIGHTS!!!!!!🎉 SO IT WILL LOOK AN ART PACE!!!!!!!!!!❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Agreed. The HomeKit support was a bit disappointing for me as well. Without being able to apple the light scenes it’s not possible to use the HomeKit app.
Do yourself a favor especially when it comes to these lights if for example my tree recommends a minimum of 800 bulbs but you definitely wanna triple that number and do 2400 (even Twinkly recommends doing so otherwise the complex patterns look like hot garbage). You can thank me later.
Can you adjust the speed of the different color profiles? They go too fast for me when the Christmas tree is in the living room in the corner of my eye blinking like a discotheque.
Considering these this year; if you set a scene with the Twinkly app but manipulated brightness or turn off and then on again in HK, will the scene/animation resume?
Most HK reviews end up either positively endorsing an item or giving the “it depends” rating. I suspect this is because (1) reviews take time via extensive testing and (2) reviewers are far more likely to invest their time on items they really enjoy using. This is why I really value your review on this product. The visuals of these lights are just stunning, but the inability to create and port scenes is a massive miss. I also like your comment on the dollar value per day of use concept. This is a great way of thinking about any of the SmartHome products, but is even more important for holiday related items. We’ll done, John.

Bought the tree this year. Love it. Kids love switching up the lights every night.
Yes, they are pretty cool. Got lots of people talking in the house
