Jan, live the drone work, great video. Just want to mention, you do such a fine job of presentation, shot setup and editing it's seamless, almost invisible to people who aren't looking for that kind of thing. That, I think, is the mark of true professionalism. Thanks for that work Jan and thanks for your energetic positive attitude, you make the world a better place my friend.

I've pondered on this before and it fascinated me. Farming looks to me to be quite peaceful. Even though it probably is far from it, it gives an illusion of peace and working for yourself vibes. Taking care of what brings in the money at the end of the month and providing for the family brings us back to roots of humanity like back in the day. Something we will never be able to get again but we get to enjoy through small family farms.

Nicely done Jan. Your cows always look so clean! I always get a laugh trying to figure the "cow conversation" during the huddle when they watch you in their corral. I assume it goes something like this: "where's the food?, I'm thirsty too" "He's bringing us more food!" "no, no he's cleaning our outhouse" "Ya that outhouse is getting gross!" lol

Hey there Jan, I hope you're all well and good!
That's some good lookin organic fertilizer.
Your manure spreader is a 'trailer' which has no steering mechanism, and and has tongue weight on a variety of different hitches, and not a 'wagon' which has a steering axle up front, with no tongue weight, and is usually pulled by a simple pin.
So remember, wagons steer, trailers don't. 👍😉
    I hope y'all have a good one ! 🐂👍🇺🇸

Hi Erik, occasionally we get mild frosts here & have similar issues with equipment. To overcome this without having an insulated work shop to park equipment, we park the equipment in the feed passage / lane of the cow shed. The ambient temperature of the cows combined with the protection from the roof stave off the worst effects of the frost. Just a thought.

How much did that huge machine cost to ship from the UK? Amazing it works so well in your super cold conditions. We do not have those sort of temperatures here in the UK and if we do they do not last very long. Looking forward to hearing your new development plans. What about harvesting methane. Hi from central Indiana Jan. I understand that cows can be dangerous animals esp if the are not acclimated to humans in the way Neline is doing with her show heifers and/or getting them through the milking parlours, etc. My baby sister always said, “horses rule, cows drool,” bc she only had horses. Her one favorite horse fractured her maxillary sinus pretty badly when it swung its head into her face. Just saying. I suppose a house cat can scratch pretty badly if you tease it a split second too long like I did with my cat yesterday.
I say first only a foal can milk a horse, who knows, but cows are amazing creatures. They eat what I suppose mostly stuff humans cannot survive on, or at least, thank goodness most 1st world humans aren’t forced to subsist, and they give us humans all that they do.
Thank you and ALL farmers for being such good stewards of God’s good earth.
    Happy Easter.
PS I’m guessing a manure spreader could tear one limb from limb if not given utmost care and respect. I would never survive on a farm. Ever.
PPS A shot of Baileys Salted Caramel, Hershey’s Special Dark Syrup in a half cup of 0% makes a very sweet nightcap. More reasons to love a dairy farmer.

I ate my dinner while watching this =D Did I gross you all out? =D There's nothing more fun than watching animal farms but I eat just a strict whole food-plant based to lower my serum cholesterol. Yeah, I could have taken the pill but at age 48 I am avoiding it plus came off blood pressure medication and weight normalized. That was 5 years ago and still the same now but I always battle to exercise. Farmers get plenty of exercise! I have a tech degree so I have to do my physical workout after hours. I agree that some people can and do manage a super healthy diet without avoiding animal foods but for me, I came across the diet and never had luck any other way.
Exercise is all i need regular now and that covers all my modifiable risk factors. =D

Then are punished here in Canada by paying fuel tax on top, to subsidize city dwellers electric vehicles and build a ~$50 million rechargeable network.
