How I worked through my dogs car anxiety

Thesehree training techniques to help him overcome his anxiety. These are the same techniques I use to help my clients dogs work through their anxieties.
1. Management: I used the crate to stop the behavior from recurring and disrupt the habit. Management will look different for every dog.
2. Counter conditioning: I used psychology to change his emotions towards the car. It’s important to change their emotional state before trying to change their behavior.
1. Desensitization: I set him up for success and exposed him to the car moving and noises while keeping him under threshold. This is not to be confused with flooding. Flooding is unethical and can make the behavior worse or cause your dog to shut down.
