  • How can my dog help with my anxiety? ⤵️
Deep pressure therapy (DPT) is a common task that service dogs can be trained to perform for individuals with anxiety or stress-related disorders. By applying gentle pressure with their body, the dog can help their handler feel more calm and relaxed.
How do I teach my dog to preform deep pressure therapy? By saving this video to try it later!
I suffered with crippling anxiety 5 years ago. I couldn’t leave the house without someone and it effected the way I lived and viewed myself. My dog gave me a better chance at life when he helped me through my anxiety. I can talk more about our journey if you are interested. Deep Pressure Therapy was one of his service dog tasks that helped me the most. I want to share this with you in hopes that it helps even one person.
    What is Deep Pressure Therapy?
Deep Pressure Therapy helps ground you and provides comfort to help you relax. DPT can help people with PTSD, anxiety, depression, autism, Alzheimer’s, sensory conditions, and other conditions.

Hey! For a dog who’s not a puppy or new to the owner, do you suggest using new terms entirely? For example, if my dog is laying on me and I need up I say “let’s get up.” Would this be a good release command for DPT training, or do we want to use a new one?
