If I visited Horse Guards I definitely wouldn’t stand about watching a horse having a bad day, I would move well out of its space! It is enough for the guards and troopers to have to try and calm the horse without having to keep visitors at a safe distance. What must be going through their minds when they just stand looking and have to be told to move 😮

Even horses have bad days...on a good day a horse has to show a lot of restraint and put up with hundreds of people touching him, sounds. Horses sense a lot of different moods from people. I myself do not think people should be allowed to touch the horses..so I applaud the Guardsmen and their horses for the nonsense they tolerate daily❤

Public should refrain from touching the horse's face and mouth. The horse is sensitive enough feeling people's emotions and whether it is friendly sugestion😂 of the individual. In general, public must respect the land of the laws rules of the country and their culture 🧫.

This happens time and time again but the troopers do not understand their horses desire for somewhere clean to stand where no biting flies will gather due to the smell.
I have said this over and over- clean the box. Worse though is that there are so many able bodied males that DONT DO A THING. They need a “mom” to tell them what to do!!!! Army, police, other males standing about, ONCE I saw a military man clean stall, but not more than one. 😊
Britain in winter definitely does not have flies. The horse muck is removed repeatedly all day. Perhap you could lersuade the horses not to poop while on duty.@@sallyhumphreys2714

Oh I’m seen them YELL at the people. If they grab the reins the guard will say something. If the person doesn’t stop the really raise their voice and tell them to not touch the reins!!!

The saddle is rotating to the guards right (offside), can see the horse left hip the black pad is midline. Surprised the staff didn’t pick that up. Loose girth would cause the saddle and/or pad to slip.
How would the people like it with all the hands in your face?? Horrible thing for the guards and horses have to deal with this. Only one hour at a time, I believe, then two hours off. This horse was just not into it that day, or perhaps had some physical issue. I'm sure he got a thorough examination and proper care if that was the case - By all accounts, these horses are truly treasured, and very well cared for.
Heard the horses stand for 1 hour. NOT sure for how many days a week. Hope after their shift the horse gets plenty of water & hay as needed. These horses are magnificent animals. These horses should not be touched by these tourists. Too many people can scare the horse. 😊

Good thing the horse was taken back in, the horse new something was wrong, the cinch was very loose and the saddle was sliding to the right side....I have seen many Troupers get launched off of the horses due to break down on the cinch straps..
They get that bit cockeyed and the constant shaking of head, chewing at the bit, shaking the head. I did miss the loose cinch. Not sure what bit they are using but all the horses have an issue with it.

I saw that and was wondering what it was. Quite a large indentation but when he walked back to the stables he wasn't lame so I don't know. His saddle was crooked and his girth was loose. I would have thought the groom who came out would have noticed it...I've ridden for years and any remember ever getting an indentation like that.

The horse isnt dis obeying, it has its reasons. It may sense something or hear something that is upsetting it that its guard may not even be aware of. These mounts are highly trained, so behaviour such as this isnt without reason. Blessing to the guard for remaing calm and understanding.

Before I started watching these videos, I naively thought that the boxes would be kept meticulously clean. But the manure and urine is left to build up for the entire six hours! That does not reflect well on the military or the Royal Family.
Those rituals need to end .. period! I wouldn't want to stand around in one spot, for hours, everyday, around crowds of people and a noisy environment either. Who would? That practice needs to end. Those are beautiful animals. Stop using them like that.

When a horse says I am finished he is finished.. That guard is an excellent horseman so you know the horse was just having a bad day.
