THAT was a precious gift for me, as an onlooker. Yes, the guard was as tickled as the horse to see that particular young man! It is common for a horse to show love this way. Great fun to see!

I bet these officers explain this 100 times a day. It's so bad that you have to keep telling every idiot not to put his stupid fingers on the King's Guard horse. Idea for new signs: Don't touch the reins, don't touch at all. Put your stupid fingers in your pockets!!!!

How sweet..horses love people that are good to them...I am a US Navy vet and the only encounter I have had with the Queens Guard was to introduce myself as a US Navy Lt and salute the men and the rub the horses muzzle...All the guards recognised me in some way but one returned my salute..in American style...I was on my own and have no picture of that but it lives in my heart...I feel for these soldiers enduring the crap tourists give them..I do not have the tolerance for this work...

So true. I live in Germany and my parents moved back to the UK years ago. My horse hadn't seen my mum at least for 6 years, but as soon as he saw her he came galloping over screaming all excited and he smelt her, rubbing his head over her and you could see the excitement and love of seeing her again. My mum isn't a horsey person but she loves my horse to bits. He's now 28 and I've had him 23 years. ❤

You can tell that the guards don't regard the mounts as just part of their job. I imagine there is an unbreakable bond between themselves and the horses that lasts the rest of their lives.
I don’t like that the horses have to wear a bit- it looks seriously uncomfortable! Maybe they can be trained without them. I do believe that they share the job with their humans and like the pictures and interactions with the public. 🇦🇺❤️

ALL horses are an excellent judge of character/people!! If my horses don’t like someone?? I WILL TRUST them over ANY human~they’ve never been wrong! I have 2 Irish Draught and they are absolutely wonderful. There’s just something about them. One is 18 hh and the other is 18.2 hh. ♥️🖤♥️🖤

awwwww when, a horse is intuned w/ his rider is a beautiful scene. i seen it on Windstorm (films: 1-5) & Windstorm & his rider have their own stories & in the end to the last move they r so, intuned & share same feels at times, it both sad & heartwarmin' all in 1 blow. it's a lovely film. now, that family r here from Bolivia, i can teach their kids bout horses abit. Leo (6yrs ol') loves learnin' while, Niko (almost 3yrs ol') is curious & Sofia (almost 3yrs ol') is shy mostly close to her mother, & think when, she does return again, from South America, Bolivia, She can watch it along w/ me when, she'a abit older like, her older nephew, Leo. btw Niko & Leo r brothers while, their niece Sofi is the only child but, she thinks that they r her brothers when, they're not only cuz, they live practically in the same hug house, in S.A. Bolivia, their mum & Sofia's mum r sisters.😂 it confused me abit yesterday when, i met her.
Even though these beautiful majestic horses have multiple guards men colleagues they work with, they know exactly who they are and instantly recognize each guards men, what special feeling that must be for the guards men 😊❤
I know the guards have to remain rather stoic for many hours i don't know how many hours exactly, but I am sure he's amused by some people when they aren't being entitled pricks towards his horse. When the horse nuzzles into the off duty guard that was absolutely precious. Beautiful, nice and relaxed ready to start his day, he really likes when people interact with him and it's really sweet. They do an excellent job socializing these horses around large crowds and lots of noise & sudden disturbances but he handled that startle very well. I love horses, One of my childhood friend has horses and we'd go horseback riding or at least she'd teach me a little about how too, she's living in a different state now, so I admire through videos.

Aww that is so sweet. Both him and the horse. You can see how it loves and trusts him. I'm glad I saw that here now. It proves that the horses are loved and not just government items. The young man looks so sweet and innocent, like a schoolboy when in fact he can send you flying to Netherworld faster than you can think.

Love how people are respectful, don’t try to distract the guards, stay at a respectable distance and do not loiter for a long time.
Love between the horse and off duty guard is wonderful to see but it does confuse tourists who are told not to touch the horse.
The sign tells tourists are not allowed to touch the rein, but nothing is said about touching the horses. Am I wrong?

It's not "teasing", at least not necessarily.
It's a sensitive area so horses react to being touched there and many like it, like scratching an itch.
