Eleven lines are currently operational (counting Lines 3a and 3b as separate lines), with extensions and additional lines in the planning and construction stage. Although the system mainly runs in the suburban regions of Paris, lines T3a and T3b run entirely within Paris city limits, and line T2 also does so for part of its route. While the lines operate independently of each other and are generally unconnected, some connections do exist: between lines T2 and T3a (at the Porte de Versailles station, since 2009), T3a and T3b (at the Porte de Vincennes station, since 2012), T1 and T5 (at the Marché de Saint-Denis station, since 2013), T1 and T8 (at the Saint-Denis train station, since 2014) and T8 and T11 Express (at two stations : Villetaneuse-Université and Épinay-sur-Seine, since 2009). However, the final design of the entire planned tram network is fairly integrated. ~Wikipedia - Auta a dopravní prostředky
These trams looks very futuristic! designers from Alstom Citadis do very good job!
Meh, Škoda looks better.
Yes absolutely. Even the older cars on T1 are futuristic.
Trams are comfortable and environmentally friendly.
@The secular humanist What in the heck is guided busway?
@@Pyrochemik007 You probably figured out but they are like bus trams czcams.com/video/10UY3WC4nDY/video.html
@@benedekhalda-kiss9737 It is nothing like trams. Tram can carry triple amount of people with one driver. Rails are even cheaper to build, and last longer. The energy consumed is lower for rail vehicles. If you can´t build rails everywhere, you just need several backbone like tracks through the city, and buses funneling people to them from areas trams can´t go to and suburbs.
@You can eat in class!! guided busways have their place it just not a big city, like in a big town or a small city they'd be ok.
l live in paris.its very beautiful city
I can tell! :)
Lovely tram system in Paris, but in London, so many people cock a snook at the idea of more trams coming back in addition to London's only modern tram system centred around Croydon in the far south of our city. I can't understand people's beef about trams. They are a lovely and clean method of passenger transportation.
Trams are specifically in the croydon/south London area because it was getting redeveloped and needed a cheap rail system and trams in central London would be near impossible because of the congested and narrow streets
Yeah trams in Paris are exclusively outside the core city, or orbitally running on the rim of the core city like T3a & T3b, orbitally running deeper into the suburbs like T1, T2, T11, T12, T13, etc. Or they are kind of an extension to a metro line's end like T6 or T7 which respectively extend M13 and M7 further the South (past Orly Airport for T7).
There's no space available in the center to run trams, it's metro and RER exclusive territory : no surface lines, most is underground, a bit is elevated (except for mainline terminal corridors).
London having less density than Paris, they should have an easier time building trams outside the center. It's a pretty good solution for short to mid distance suburb to suburb journeys.
In order of apparition :
Translohr STE3, Alstom Citadis 402, 2 units of Alstom Citadis 302, Alstom TFS, Citadis 302 (Different Type),
Legend says that this guy is still in Paris filming trams
Phew just finished! Took 100 years...
@@timosha21 won't they built new tram systems?!
Another tram model is in paris btw since 2020 lmao
Danke. Sehr schönes Video.
I love how they regulary landmove the grass on the tracks areas.
I wish these were around when I lived there from 1974-1976. We just had the Metro, and I loved it. We also had lots of other trains, and from what I understand, the trams didn't come to be until around 1978 or 79. I also am totally blind, and it would be so nice if you could put English subtitles with the name or number of each tram and the intersection or landmark where you took each clip. Otherwise, you got a big "like" out of me.

Awesome tram network!! And environmentally safe😀
Very Nice, Bravo !!
Excellent!

Another city that runs streetcars/trams on green grass in the median is New Orleans. But only Paris does this with style and finesse.
well most french city do this

Brussels does it too

I like that city, i want to see Caracas like that.
I think all kind's of Train's are all Beautiful in general!
I love how they trains run on sidewalks and green grass! The San Diego Trolley's Green Line is the only U.S. lightrail/tram I know of that has a station on a city sidewalk: The Alvarado Medical Center Station... Always reminds me of Europe
Here in New Orleans we run streetcars on green grass in the median, called the neutral ground.

Danke für diesen schönen Einblick. ❤️👍😃😃😃
There are only 2 lines of tram that actually run "inside" Paris (the T3a and T3b), and 3 lines that terminate at a "gate" of Paris
Very futuristic. Simply cool.
Paris ♡
No it actually looks quite dated and old compared to the Edinburgh trams.

Hi, Great Video! Do you need permits from the prefecture for this kind of video or is it exempt? Thanks
you can film whatever you want in public! you're supposed to hide people's faces but it's never a problem unless someone specifically complains.
That's a lot of different modes of transportation. They even have the rubber-tired trams with the guide rail.
Love those green tracks!
Good video but would be better if there was a visual type logo on each lines filmed

j adore le t3
Are the teams in Paris more on the outer parts of the city? Because I don't remember trams in the center...
fjellyo32
In the historical center, you have 14 underground lines.
Tramways lines begin mostly at the periphery of old city
The Tramway T3 is located at the edge of Paris and the other lines are in the surrounding suburbs
Good on you RATP. Great job!
Very nice video.......and big respect from Zagreb/Croatia!?Who made these trams and what a tram model? It would be good to record their remits / depots.

Awesome video. Liked and sub'd.
does the rubber tram have an attachement to the steal rail or it is only for guiding virtualy?
just Marcin it is attached to it and it's used for the electricity ground

Nice vid but you forgot 2 lines ( 6 & 7 )
and the line t4
+Franc F. Yeah the t4 too but it's more like a tram-train and it is part of Transilien line P even if it's called T4 too
Nope it's not a part of line P but it is operated by SNCF while the others are operated by RATP
T6 wasn't running when I got to the line! I was so disappointed !
@YohannMILAN, It's not a reason

I like france ❤ and paris
Anyone heard that scania p340 siren? At 2:54?
It's firefighters
WoW👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Australia should build the tramps in Perth
Am I imagining something, or do some of these only have one rail? * confused *
They have regular road wheels, much like their subway system. The center rail is for guidance.
lindisimo es muy parecido al hoy en dia tenemos aqui en medellin colombia.
Yes, they only have a single rail - they use normal rubber wheels but I've no idea why you'd do it like that or what benefits does that offer.
The minimum gyration radius is smaller ans it is better in the rises due to the better grip of the rubber tyres
Yohann MILAN ok but why does it need to be a tram at all? Wouldn't it be cheaper to just use busses?
я из россия город уфа. тоже снимаю трамвай и троллейбус. у нас таких нету

the best part of that is we are gonna loose all of it in around 100 years because of global warming...
But this is only showing a few of the many lines. There are more interesting ones to places like Orly and Viroflay.

Interesting how one has just one track.
It's actually an articulating guided bus. They're quite rare even here in France as they kinda suck, but they do have advantages like going up hills faster. Ride quality's shit though

Why do the French have to be different, - they run their underground trains on rubber tyres, and now they run their trams (some) on rubber tyres as well. - Is it the wine, their cheese, or just the 'je ne sais quoi'. Damn good video nevertheless.
I can never get over the stupid runner tyres that they use
@@samr7609 Perhaps they just like to be different, - we all know how the French can be.
@@christopherlovelock9104 yes we do
Well rubber tyred metros was a technology developed in France during the sixties if I remember well. It had certain advantages at the time like limited maintenance costs, less noise and faster trains. It was also adopted massively in Japan somehow.
@@thibistharkuk2929 I wonder why the Japanese adopted it. - Not like them, they usually 'invent' the idea, and it is then offered/copied worldwide. I'm a bit ignorant about these 'tyres', are they a specially made type, just standard pneumatic or the semi 'run-flat' type, as punctures I would have thought could be a problem.
Isn't too good like Rio tram but its good

I would call the single rail vehicle a guided bus instead of a tram. How does such a vehicle perform in snowy conditions?
It's not really a concern in Paris as snowy days are quite rare.
And even if it snows "a lot" (by Paris standards), you'll never have more than a few centimeters that will rapidly melt anyway.
Every time it really snows in Paris (not even a yearly occurrence) the whole city's in panic and grinds to a halt, becoming the laughingstock of Northern Europe because it is a bit ridiculous : 3 centimeters (1 inch) of snow and the city is paralyzed, airports are in chaos and highways need evacuation.
That's because no one wants to invest in snow equipment for only a handful of (slightly) snowy days spread over several years.
The density is so high and heat island effect quite present so snow never stays and melts before accumulating most of the time or in a matter of hours at worst.
It's a temperate semi oceanic climate there, with a super dense urban fabric.
There's an average of a dozen days per year where it's *supposedly* snowing, but most of these days the flakes have melted even before touching the ground.
we're missing T4 ;-;
