In the original FNAF3 Springtrap really wasn't that scary. The way he just casually slid in was pretty funny, actually. In 3D, though? He's fucking HORRIFYING. That jerky movement, christ.
In the original he's like "heeeey friend how's it going" and in this one he's like "heeeey do you mind if I boil your teeth and use fingernail clippers on your eyeballs? :D"
Its only really scary when you don't expect it so unless you weren't monitoring the vents the scare factor is gone

I've watched a ton of people play the games, and there really are so many at this point (both # of games & ppl playing), but out of all of them, that's still my favorite. I remember how it was possible to beat the first night of every game by not doing anything. FNAF 1: only Chica and Bonnie are active and they can only attack when you have your camera up. FNAF 2: you just hold the music box rewind button. Toy Chica and Toy Bonnie can't attack unless you put your camera down and you keep the puppet at bay by holding the rewind button. As someone who has played this in vr, it’s absolutely terrifying 😭😭 definitely the scariest of them all
I love how in both the original FNaF 3 and the VR version, Mark's first instinct regarding Springtrap (except screaming, of course) is the bargain with him. Gotta appreciate the fact he's willing to negotiate with him like a normal person; Springtrap is probably thankful for the human interaction after thirty years, albeit with screaming and lots of panicked swearing.

If you listen to the audio on the first night, he says they've gotten a new lead they're gonna follow up on a guy that used to work at the pizzeria that had found an old suit in a boarded up room no one knew about. By the time you get back on the second night, they had followed the lead, bought Springtrap, and dropped him off at Fazbear's Fright before chasing another lead, leaving you to deal with the murderous little freak for the first time on the second night.
