What you got was a time capsule. Its something left behind from a player who finished the game. Btw there is a zone that is dark even during the daytime. That being said you will have to gather your courage and go deeper eventually

A tip for using the stasis rifle: Don't charge it up until you already froze the target. Use instant, uncharged shots to hit the target which will freeze it for 5 seconds and then use this time to charge a shot and hit the target while it is immobilized.

Time capsules are gifts from other real players of Subnautica. Once you complete the game you can leave one too and maybe get it approved by the Devs for another player to find. There are 40 in each game randomized from the database chosen by the Devs.
Is that the case if you play without internet?
He's lying. Yes, there are time capsules and yes you can load one up before you end the game, but it's just to trick you. Give you a sense of appreciation for what you have accomplished during the game.
If it really was true then you would always find a bunch of end game level equipment because that's all the players has on them before they leave.
Would be nice finding fully upgraded depth modules that you don't even have the blueprints of, right?

For the record, it's not that we like seeing you scared (I don't think). It's getting to relive what it felt like discovering Subnautica for the first time. The terror of the unknown, the excitement of discovering deeply desired blue prints, designing a base. So much joy

My favorite part of this series is the exasperated “oooh you twat” when you run into the harmless Reefbacks that are _always in the same area_ 😂
The stinging dingleberries always makes me chuckle too.
I’ve heard so many people say “oh yeah I have thalassophobia, I hate deep water”, and yes deep dark waters of an unknown ocean are inherently terrifying, but THIS is true thalassophobia.
The constant hesitating, not being able to look at the open waters in front you, taking detours and going out of your way to do other things so you stall, making noise to make yourself seem bigger than the threat, and never getting used to it. This is the manifestation of an actual phobia.
It strikes me that if any of us were *actually* stuck on an alien water world, we'd be doing exploration every bit as cautiously as Butch - rushing back to base every time night falls, *sloooowly* creeping forward into new areas, and going 'OH SHIT' when something huge pops out of the blue when we pop off a sonar ping.

I, and I think many people here also is watching it because we are rooting for you, we're feeling special that we can be a part of this journey with a man who is fighting with his fear live and we appreciate it. We see that with every episode you're getting braver and braver and hoping that at the end of this journey you will realistically be able to say that you're feeling comfortable to look at this massive blob of opacity in the water, at least on the screen.
Live is full of pain and the key to happiness is to learn to live with it.
that message that plays, “Multiple leviathan class life forms detected, are you sure whatever you’re doing is worth it?” has to be one of the most scariest, bone chilling messages a game has ever given. It wasn't like "don't go here", it was like "are you sure you want to do this". Straight up made me turn my ass back around the first time I saw it, was going out for a supply run, immidiantly went back home.

There are often items scattered around the lifepods and wrecks, not just inside them! You're missing half the items by only looking inside! Hope this helps 🙂
Every single time I think lmaooo. He realizes there’s not much in the Pod and he holds his breath back to the Seamoth and doesn’t breathe until getting back to main base 😂😂😂

I had a lot of little panic attacks during the playing this game. I noticed that listening to the PDA "This world" from Degasi survivor Bart Torgal always managed to calm me down.
He is like a little tiny fish hiding in a coral reef. It reminded me of Find Nemo where they shortly swam out and back, out and back into hiding 20 times. He even immediately tries to physically duck under the wreck :D
This has got to be one of my favorite games of all time. Even if it terrifies you, you have to admit the world design is amazing, and it perfectly plays with fear and dread.
My man deadass went to the dunes. I admire your bravery- I've been playing this game for years and still struggle with even straying NEAR that place.
I admire your development, persistence, determination and courage. Remember that bravery is not the absence of fear, but the strength to fight your own demons head on and come out at the other side, shining and clean.
I believe in you, Butch. I will admit that at first I started watching because "Oh new person plays subnautica, they'll get spooked"- and while I did get that, it wasn't in the funny way- you genuinely seemed mortified, and still do, I worried for your mental health at first.
But I've seen how strong you are. Subnautica has nothing on you. You *can* beat this game. I'm not worried for you anymore, because I know for a fact you'll conquer your fear. I know you can achieve what I and many others couldn't.

There’s a cuddle fish egg in the big crater in the dunes so it’s a reason to go but I still get scared going there sooo
I can firmly say that out of all the playthroughs I've watched (mainly Markiplier and Jacksepticeye) this is my favorite one. The sense of community rallying behind you to overcome your fear and progress in the game is so much fun!

@@ButchX3 There is a Markiplier Doll, which talks, Easter egg, that you have found and also a Septic Sam septic tank, Easter egg that also talks. The Developers put them both into the game as a thank you for being early access streamers for the game they both ironed out a lot of wrinkles for the developers in the early days of development and are even in the thank you credits at the end of the game

I initially found you getting spooked funny, before I realized how serious the fear really was. Then, this series transformed from funny comedy into someone’s genuine attempt to conquer one of his seemingly biggest fears. I just want to see you succeed, and I hope in the end this game ends up being an experience you don’t regret.

Normally by the time Lifepod 7 shows up you would have, you know, found the actual story. So there's not really much incentive besides curiosity to drive you there...normally.

I still wonder if they are extremely powerful and the other Leviathans don´t mess with them, or if they only roam where there are no other Leviathans.

You can do this, Butch! Few tips I can give to help you is to often find relaxing music to play while in safer areas (Red Grass, Kelp, and Safe Shallows) to make it easier. When traveling to the Aurora, HUG THE WALL OF THE SHIP and go toward the front. That’s where you can get in. And finally, get a scanner room! It can help find matierals, fragments, and even track some larger creatures be they friendly or hostile. You can do this!

Just know that the aggresive leviathans will either give you a warning when you enter that zone or shoot massive fireballs at you!!! Dave the big guy up there is a reefback leviathan , not a reaper . Hes actually offering you a free ride to the back of the aurora and then the void !!!

I'm very interested and delighted how you breeze through the familiar areas that you visited multiple times already. I don't think you'll be able to ever really beat your fear, but it's very nice to see to fight it and evolve.
Though in general the different bioms will always have the same creatures and materials, wherever you find them. So when you see an area with red grass you are pretty much safe.
As a vet to subnautica (2015 ish) Seeing you go through all the huge milestones is amazing, especially cus I felt that same fear and it left me shivering! I love to see you overcome those hurdles 💙

I personally watch and enjoy these videos, not because you get scared, but because you overcome your fear and get things done no matter how much it scares you. Seeing you overcome these obstacles is really inspiring, and I hope I can overcome my own fear of the ocean with this game.

Perimeter defense system and sonar are the best upgrades imo, nothing can hurt you with the shockwave you put out, and the sonar allows you to see the reapers or ghost leviathans without them seeing you first, if you can hear the reapers roar, it can see you. Sense they basically hunt by echo location.
Also you got the stasis rifle with an ion battery, the best battery in game
I'm binge watching this and I just want to say that watching this is giving me my own courage to try to conquer my fear of thalassophobia - i've been playing each area along with you as i progress and it gives me a sense of ease knowing where I'm going is similar to where you've been. i've never honestly seen someone portray this fear to the degree that you have, and i also deal with this to the same degree so watching you push through and get through it is so amazing and brave. i hope that i'm able to conquer my fear and persevere through this just as you have

I picked up Subnautica a couple of weeks ago, and looking for videos on base building, I found this channel.

Tips to get to the Aurora safely: Drive straight to it, aim for the middle. Then turn left, heading to it's front, and hug the Aurora until you find a BIG opening. And I mean BIG because I've seen some players try to get in through cracks that just barely fit the seamoth and you'll just end up damaging your seamoth with isn't something you want to do when swimming in reaper territory. Bring a lot of food and water. Bring your laser gun, two or so fire extinguishers, your repair tool, and the propulsion gun.
While I'm fairly comfortable with this game because I've been playing it a long time, you were straight up exploring the dunes which is a place I still haven't gone to. You're lucky you avoided any reapers.
Maybe a helpful tip: You should get comfortable with the Reefbacks. Hangout with them. Associate them with safety. If they're in the water above you, then that means there likely isn't anything to worry about in terms of bigger scarier fish. They scared me at first but it's easy to grow to love them.
I can honestly say I only open youtube to see if you have posted the next part of this series, keep up the amazing work!

Ok 2 things. 1. Multiple leviathan class........ Perfect timing. I had come face to face with a reaper when my announcement came. It made me die laughing....once I'd stopped sh*TT*Ng myself. .
2. Your vids DO make my day better. I actively anticipate them. Keep being awesome.
1) You can quickly store items by clicking on the left mouse button on the item you want to store.
2) You've got a time capsule. These things have been left by players-real players who finished the game. Each and every player who leaves a capsule can write something for you. I recommend you read it because it can be quite funny and maybe even helpful.
I really like your videos. Keep it up and stay strong. You have a lot more to endure, but I believe in you.

Holy crap your terror was so visceral
I recommend obtaining the cyclops submarine
& using beacons to mark locations to avoid getting lost
if your going to just do things in light i recomend making a mini base where ever you go just make it sleep then deconstruct it when you head back itll help you skip to day, all you need is resrces for a small room, bed 1 solar panel or bio reactor(use fish or plants) and door. thats all you need and you keep getting lost use beacons check the wiki or if you have it already make a few its better than the map mod, and im sorry to be the one to say it im sure you relies it but are putting it out of your mind no mater what you do the deeper you go the darker it will get regardless of if its day or not

I’m not gonna lie I have never commented on a CZcams video, but you are genuinely really entertaining and fun to watch
11:14 it was at this moment I knew you might be screwed. That sound you can hear in the distance means you might be on the menu. It means that something Big knows you are there. However if you stop hearing it you are safe. Your instincts saved you again. You actually saw that creature once before in the distance but you ran back home instead of seeing what it is like most people. You are making the right calls if you are someone that wants to survive at all costs.
11:49 also this makes the first trip to the area scarier. You know there is something out there but you don't know what it is or where it will come from.
Also you got really lucky with that stasis rifle. Now if a leviathan starts screaming and charging at you just shoot it with that at full power and you have maybe thirty seconds to take a selfie with it and then run.

When he was scared and said "what was that" I thought he had seen an Reaper...I paused the vid. and looked for him, but then saw that the Bone Shark was the one responsible..
I think some people spoiled that the reapers are around the aurora so thats why he didnt go there yet

You're doing an amazing job. First episode you took ten minutes to get in the water... now you're just using your base as a diving board without a second thought. Keep marching forward, you're getting to the hard parts... it only gets deeper, it only gets darker.
I wish I had come across your videos when you were playing this. I would have told you that you could bring enough materials to build a temporary base whenever you needed to rest and repair. I used to keep a scanner room and fabricator with me everywhere so I didn't have to return to my base until I was done with whatever task I had to complete. I am very glad you got to experience the wonderful world of Subnautica.
I'm not a sadist, I more enjoy the journey of watching someone overcome their deep rooted terror.

I feel you, I’m terrified of vast open spaces (and for whatever reason I’m scared of seaweed, look I don’t know) but my dad thinks it’s hilarious whenever he plays subnautica and I’m there screaming like a little baby. But I’m determined to overcome this irrational fear. So coming from singing with the same experience, i get it 😢
As a guy that suffers with small symptoms with Thallassophobia i can say that i get terrified of this game
ButchX3 - Rule Number One, Straight from Dive School: You Panic, you Die. Meaning?
"Fear is the Mind Killer" (Frank Herbert - Dune) which is the best explanation I've ever heard for it, but yes it Is True because if you panic while diving you will more than likely die just from messing something up that you shouldn't have, like getting turned in the wrong direction. (Hint: Breathing exercises help, in thru the nose, out thru the mouth)
For Subnautica: Use Beacons on the wrecks ( I number mine 1 thru whatever) where you have already been which also helps to keep you from getting turned around, description of environment helps as well when naming the beacons to keep your bearings. Who cares about north when you can Make North?

I started clapping when you found that stasis rifle! Excellent time capsule and an excellent find by you, Butch. The stasis rifle doesn't need charging, so my technique is to just click to get whatever you're aiming at stuck, then blast it with a full charge to make sure you have time.
