Here are some tips regarding the Cyclops:
    1. You can dock both the Prawn and the Seamoth in the Cyclops, but, in my opinion, the Prawn is the better choice here.
    2. The Cyclops is running on 6 powercells, located on both sides of the engine. Everything you build on the Cyclops uses its energy, meaning a powercell charger is useless. You're literally using powercells to charge other powercells. The translation is 1:1, so you neither gain or lose energy, it's just pointless. Also, it's charging your docked vehicle.
    3. You might have noticed some fire extinguishers hanging on the walls of the Cyclops. I wonder what you would need them for...
    4. You can still move the Sub while looking through the cameras. I'm not sure if you're gonna use this feature much, but it's good to know either way.
    5. The hologram right besides the steering wheel shows nearby bigger predators. Yellow means they noticed you, red means they want to attack you. Deploying a creature decoy will show up as a yellow orb while creatures are displayed as triangles.
I hope this helps you get more familiar with the Cyclops.
Love the series so far, looking forward to the next episode!

A few spoiler free tips for you Captain Butch. On the floating island with the Degasi habitats, you can find 4 different edible plants which can be cultivated inside your base, you can also find the voxel shrub which looks great when planted in wall planters. you can also cultivate creep vines in outside growbeds and its late game cousin by planting its glowing 'fruits'. For the cyclops here are a few tips: Get plant pots in the room where you have the bed, and plant Bulbo trees in each one, place wall lockers and the fabricator on the lower level next to the ladder to the cockpit, they will stick to the sloped walls down there. And lastly DONT charge power cells or batteries in the cyclops, you are basically transferring power from the cyclops power cells at a loss.

Your first Subnautica video popped up on my homepage kind of out of nowhere, although I did recently start a new playthrough with a friend using Nitrox for multiplayer. I will admit, I came for the mind-bending horror, but I stayed for a few reasons, the first of which is the quality of your content.
Everyone is trying to make fast, highly edited, and quickly engaging content nowadays, cramming so much into people's short attention spans, and because of that, it's been a while since I've seen a survival game playthrough video that's more than maybe 10 minutes long. Your style takes me back to 2015 CZcams, where people didn't worry so much about how well the video would do and just played, and I've sat through every second of your 5+ hours of exploring the oceans and enjoyed it immensely.
Second, Subnautica has existed for quite a while, and I'm no stranger to it anymore. It's really intriguing to watch how you work your way through the game for the first time, and it makes me wish I could experience it that way again.
And last, but certainly not least, it's fascinating to watch how you've adapted to a terrible fear of yours over the course of the series. Watching the first episode and your reaction to the environment, I didn't know how far this series would go, but you've pushed through every challenge with a surprising determination.
All in all, I love what you're doing, and I'll leave you with one tip of my own: keep listening to your comments section. There's the odd person making ominous references to later in the game with the hope of freaking you out, but the majority are really knowledgeable people with great tips and advice to make your life easier, while dodging spoilers. See you in the next one!

Here are a few extra tips for the cyclops (aside from the ones I already read)
    - It doesn't take collision damage
    - It can't get attacked while you're not in it
    - It has an external shield that can absorb minor damage and that regenerates, past 80% the hull will start to have breaches
    - It makes noise depending on how fast you move, which can get you noticed. Silent mode will suppress that noise greatly, but it costs a bunch of energy.

The Cyclops + Prawn is the perfect pairing, BUT - the Prawn, on its own, is actually a very fast vehicle once you have the jump jet upgrade and the grappling hook. The grappling hook takes some practice to get good with, but once you get the hang of it, it's awesome to 'spiderman' around inside large cave systems.

    @ButchX3
i know its an "old" series, but i just love how you're doing EVERYTHING wrong with the cyclops.. just like i did the first time i played the game.. :D
    1. leave engine/lights on when not using cyclops, so the battery is flat when you're actually going to use it
    2. Put powercell chargers inside the cyclops, thinking you got infinite power.. completely missing the fact that all it will do is drain power from the powercells in the engine and put it in the charger.. No free energy.. sorry..
    3. Put all types of crafting and energy-using devices in the cyclops, making the battery drain even quicker than it allready is.
    4. Build several lockers, completely ignoring the FACT that the entire first floor is covered in allready built in lockers.
In short.. you're lucky if you end up having a sub that will have power for a short trip to the mushroom forest.. going back might be an issue tho..
Oh and.. again, i realize this series is most likely allready played to the end.. but a "tiiiny" thing i'm surprised noone have told you about:
When you use your sonar.. and now with the cyclops, when you run your engine and/or use the horn.. All these sound-generating devices will signal everything in the ocean and tell everything exactly where you are and where to go if they want a snack.. Sonar gives a small "ping".. which is soundwaves.. which predators tend to be sensitive towards. sub engines create cavitation (google it), which make sound.. and horns.. well.. lots of sound..
Everything tells all the nasties "HERE I AM COME EAT ME"..
Also, some of the baddies in the game are sensitive towards powered machines/engines.. so when you come runing with your seamoth or cyclops it really annoys them.. and what do baddies do when something annoys them? Yep you guessed it.. "CHOMP!!"
Hence why you have the option to kill the engine/lights, turning yourself from an annoying electrical machine to an innocent floating piece of debris that noone cares about.
So yeah.. i'm kinda surprised noone have told you about that yet.. :D

I use those to store any equipment used while swimming (suits, propulsion cannon, stasis rifle, laser cutter, medkits, flashlight, helmets, seaglide, whatever else) so I have lots of inventory space for managing and fabricating things inside the Cyclops. Then I just take those things out of the lockers again when I go for a swim.

You can also plant all harvestable plants (including creepvine seed clusters, blood oil and everything else) - so that you have access to them at all times. You can also plant a lot of stuff that has no practical use but looks nice. Indoor growbeds for farming are also extremely usefull.

remember butch, everything in the cyclops uses its power supply, so a powercell charger will just charge the power cells from the ofher power cells, the same applies to a battery charger and a docked vehicle, so you will need to charge the cyclops power cells in your base. And turn the engine off, it wastes energy. And go back to the floating island, you can actually eat samples from the flora, so an infinite food supply, because you can plant it in your cyclops.

Big Phil. No question about it. That or Nautilus.
But I must say, Captain Butch, it is a pure delight seeing you overcome the fear, I noticed it in the beginning when you set off in the Seamoth into the kelp forest, talking normally and not be nervous about what was ahead of you.
I have two recommendations for ya, now that you have an exterior growthbed, is to take those glowing creepvine seedclusters, the yellow glowing fruits of the tall seagrass and plant those in the growthbed. When they grow, they provide a lightsource on the outside of your base.
Second, you can replace your divesuit with a reinforced divesuit as you no longer need a radiation suit. I believe you unlocked it in a previous episode. It is much more durable to both damage AND heat. If you ever get your hands on the blueprints for a Thermal Plant, build a few around the thermo vents, I believe there are two of them in the shallows. They provide your base with a constant supply of energy, far superior to solarpanels and the bioreactor. That was three recommendations… hope they are useful.

Your comment about the fact that the Rock has actually made people believe he can act had me dying. I just found your channel a few days ago and I am enjoying your Subnautica reactions so far. Not because I enjoy seeing you being tortured but because I have Thalassophobia as well and had pretty much the same experience as you and it's a comfort seeing that I wasn't the only one that was terrorized by this game. My fears had me wanting to turn the game off and stop playing at times but my curiosity had me wanting to continue. The bed was definitely a game changer though.

Also may you be glad to know I went to the back the Aurora today in my own survival world without my seamoth, and mainly just my seaglide and scanner to pick up blueprints/scan for titanium with the reaper getting *really* close at times (I had a bunch of medkits on me, but I never got bit once by the big fella)! I had a scanner room close to the Aurora too for saving inv and for scanning fragments/other materials nearby… but it’s nice, fun, and quite exhilarating at times at least :D

The thing with installing a powercell charger is that you're using the Cyclops' power to charge those cells, it's a net zero, you're just transferring energy. Also, the Cyclops charges your docked vehicles too. Every time you use the fabricator, you'll be spending the cyclops' power too. Which isn't to say it's a mistake to turn the Cyclops into a "mobile base", not at all, it's what it's meant for; you just have to be mindful and not set out on long trips with 20% power left.
It's better to just pack extra charged power cells if you're worried about range, or craft modules that'll charge it with solar. Personally I always pack habitat building materials so I can scrounge up a tube with a hatch, power, a fabricator, a power cell charger and one or two lockers anywhere I go.

BUTCH! If you go to any of the islands, there is going to be a tree called "Bulbo tree" Its like a huge carrot. It is edible and can be planted. You can literally replace your fish with trees. Its very easy to do. And the island that has 3 degasi bases on it, has another tree. Its a "lantern tree". If you consume that, trust me you will never need fish again.

great video as always butch! congrats on makign the cyclops!!! its literally my best friend bc its so useful and its the only way i dont piss my pants in the deep down dark deep
L on the mushroom death though
i also have some really important tips for using the cyclops i suggest reading, unless you wish to figure everything out by trial and error then i guess skip this
    - you dont want the powercell charger in the cyclops, it will just zap energy from your currently used powercells and youll go in loops ending up with less charge than you started with, what you want to do is build a whole bunch of extra powercells and then recharge them whenevr u come back from your adventures
    - everytime you park the cyclops for a while, youll want to turn the engine off just to save that extra energy, the cyclops in general does a lot of power consumption so thats the main thing you want to prepare for
    - silent running mode is literally your best friend, it is basically a "you cant see me" button, but again, uses up a lot of energy
    - when you dock vehicles in the cyclops, they get recharged by draining some of the cyclops energy so beware of that
    - you cannot go below your docked vehicles depth limit or it *will* explode. e.g. seamoth depth limit is 300, but the cyclops goes to 400. the seamoth will get damaged and explode
    - strongly suggest getting some planters in the cyclops so you have food and water on the go
    - try not to set the engine on fire :)

  • @thehappycockatiel9568

I need to point out something about the power cell charger inside a cyclops.
Basically you are charging your power cells with power cells.
So there is no value out of it in the end since it nullifies your power gain.
Battery charger still draws power but at least you get more charges (recommended to build that instead).

Hey, don't mind about the mushrooms, i died like that in my first ever run, they are acid, so you just have to keep a distance to the mist they release when you cut. Loving the content, rooting for you! Oh, if you can, go back to the big tree. I don't want to spoil, so just try to look at the roots, if you can. You can google if you don't feel confident. Congratulations for the cyclops too! That's literally too huge to call a milestone

Definitely make an interior grow bed with seeds from the floating island (in one of the degasi bases at the top of a mountain there is a tree with seeds on it thats good to take with you, you've already been there but didn't realise you plant the orange seeds growing from it to grow more)

  • @xavierorozco209

The reason there are no waves is because the lack of land masses means the energy from any currents or movement on the surface simply dissipates into the surrounding water instead of getting concentrated the way it would near a shoreline.

  • @austinian1598
    @austinian1598 Před rokem

Anything that consumes power like the the power cell charger and fabricators will still take power from the cyclops when making something. Basically charging a power cell drains a power cell in the engine the same percentage. You can definitely still have them there and use them a lot later in the game with a certain upgrade
