In gender it it being just a man or just a women. If you identify as strictly one or the other your gender identity is binary. If you identify as non-binary you don't identify as strictly man or woman. Like in between or neither.

because you can't change the gender identity that has been in the mind, it tends to not be able to be changed. And maybe part of that reason is that the brain is part of the body.
Do you think gay people can choose to be straight? If you don't think that's possible, then it's the same reasoning as to why non binary/trans people can't just change their mind. It's who they are. If you think that gay people CAN choose to be straight...well then, I suggest you educate yourself further.
As much as your question may be legitimate we can break it down ok? Now let’s say you were born with brown eyes but all your life you felt like you were more of a blue eyed person. You have this burning need to have blue eyes to where it feels wrong to have brown eyes. You find out you can change your eyes but everyone is saying that you shouldn’t because brown eyes are what you were born with, but you know that’s not what you were physically meant to be.

Being Trans/non-binary can be sad, bc some can never pass. It must be deeply uncomfortable to not being able to portray what you feel inside.
