    It would be great if you can just take one raga for a video, explain everything about it (complete) and at the end you can play some of your own tunes (improvisation) in that raga, so that the learners can know the raga and how to use it as well. Thanks for the videos by the way. They are awesome.

    Your videos are wonderful and more importantly generous, so firstly thanks for that. I just have one question- you said “rules” for aarohanam and avarohanam. Is there a video purely explaining these rules. I am very interested in the whole concept of “raagify” a scale. I am pretty ok when it comes to scales, so I was wondering that just by applying these rules, we can come up with hooks/riffs/melodies purely based off scale know. Can you help me out?

    Great video. I just started playing guitar and I've learned a few chords, but I have played Indian Classical Music in the past(mainly with Sikh Kirtan on the Harmonium) and I wanted to explore Indian classical music especially the thaats on my guitar. However I just started guitar and am very new. Would you recommend I learn the guitar first the "normal" way by doing chords and playing simple songs or learning it by using individual scales like this? Thanks

    • @indianguitarschool
      @indianguitarschool  Před 7 lety

      Dear Harman, thanks.
      Simple songs which you know can keep you motivated + help you develop the skill to move your fingers, muscles to be able to match the sound of the song, the one we hear in our head matched to what we play.
      But while learning songs, understanding the underlying scales is important. Also scale is good to practice because it is something simple enough at the same time being a basic element of music, to practise fingering, up down strokes, moving between strings, keeping the notes sustaining and not cutting off, etc...
