    I've had the first Scan n Cut up to this one (3). Sure did have a mat problem. Called Brother mat problem fully fixed. Calibrated the machine from the very first day, as you should. It works lile magic. I have no issues of any sort, Im very happy and I use the machine practically daily, hours at time, doing all kinds of stuff. Take a beat, get a full tummy and try again my friend. Really appreciate all the time you spend. Hope you resolve the issue and can enjoy the toy as much as I and countless others are. Thanks again. Keep up the good work!

    Watched your vid & pannnicked! As a senior, any of this stuff means I go without something else. No screwing up! When I ordered cutting mats for my old, beat up CM350 I didn't check that they sent the correct mat (left them in box to keep them nice & safe. Oh sure.).Wrong mats, way past return & one is crimped in 2 places. Optimistically (holding breath though) I tested them. These dated issues are not supposed to work for the DX that they're designed for let alone the CM350. Not only did they BOTH work - they fixed my scanning accuracy problems. Whew. Try passing on your DX mats before they hit the trash, kids.

    I must have received appropriately marked mats. I’ve had no issues with my mats, and absolutely love my machine. I can totally understand how frustrating it is when customer service blames the user. I’m happy they’re addressing the problem, but I’m not cutting them any slack for not listening to their customers sooner. Thanks for your diligence Ken!

      Hi Linda...great re. THE Pinch rollers on yours must have a good rubber feel...My Left roller is a Wax smoothe feel which Does shift the matt...feeding crooked or not at all...Totally Frustrating...Glad Ken did this uodate...I have only used mine 4x's with no way to go any further on usage...I have a new1 back up one as well & dare NOT OPEN IT!!..They also need the metal bar updated to a FRICTION Bar like all professional cutters I have for Signage...So that will be another thing I am going to address w/ Brother... Watch for my updated post once I get in contact with them. This is important for the crafters as well because our sign industry. This is what they do use it is definitely not a matt problem
      . It is only a matt problem when when the rollers cannot feed the mat and then the mat goes in crooked and ruins it

      I love brother CS but I called regarding this issue just today and they talked me through cleaning the mat. I know how to clean the mat and wasn't rude to her, but I knew this wasn't the issue. I even told her that I had to use tape all the way around the edges and it's been useless than a dozen times and usually with slick vinyl on the sticky side of the mat. She told me to call back tomorrow if the cleaning didn't work and we would go from there.

    Thanks for the video. I just received the sdx 125e for Christmas. I had a similar issue like you did when cutting out the gnomes. Apparently the paper was not be firmly adhered to the mat. In your video the left side can be seen not adhered. Resolution-. Chat group told me not to touch the adhesive part of the mat with my fingers and to replace the mats protective covering when done. Additionally, use a brayer to firmly attach the paper to the mat on a solid surface prior to loading into the machine. I hope that helps. I have been h as having beautiful results.

    I have been saving to buy this machine. I am not very computer savvy. Thank you for this demo, it was a great way to see if I can handle this machine or not. Everything you have been saying about it being a machine to quickly help us cut. Hope you can solve all these kinks in the machine. The DX may not be all that it’s cracked up to be. We shall see. Thank you for taking time to make this video. Hope this really does solve the problem. I bought my SDX125 on Amazon in November 2019. My mat has worked fine (about 2.5 months), until 2 days ago, suddenly the mat would not load. According to the algorithm, the mat that came with my machine was made in October of 2018. I guess I was lucky that the mat worked as long as it did. Fortunately, I have a new mat on hand and tried that. It seems to work fine. That mat was made January of 2019. I really love my SDX125 and hope the new mat continues to work.

    I'm so sorry to hear of these issues. I wish I caught you live because I'd love for you to try that the button on the left side of the machine again to see if never really engaged to the 1 position. The reason is that the symptoms match. - it got worse as it reached the lower end of the cut. I will look for your future episodes!

  • @Wendyrocler
    @Wendyrocler Před 5 lety

    I have the original SNC and the SDX125 and they both are working like a charm. Actually the first SDX125 that I bought through Amazon arrived with an error loop stating that the feed roller was unlocked then that it was locked and wouldn’t even allow me to access the home screen to even start my project. So, it went back and the second one that I bought from Brother Canada, the day it was finally released here, works perfectly. My first Cricut Imagine was also a lemon and had to be replaced. So, there are bugs in all types of die cutting machines. I hope your issues get resolved. I must point out that I keep my machine set up in one place and don’t swing it around every time I use it. Of course, I am not trying to work around a camera set up for video purposes. 😉

      @KensKreations  Před 5 lety

    Thank you so much for this video. I bought the Scan N Cut SDX225 in February of 2019, and had no problem with my mats loading until last month. I was getting very upset with it. (I was starting to think I should have bought a Cricut). I bought a new mat instead, and it worked. I couldn’t figure out why my new 1 would load, but my other 2 would not load. 1 is Low tack and 1 is a Standard tack. They are both made in June 2018, and my newer one is made in Sept. 2018. I never knew what the dots at the bottom meant until your video. Thank you so much. I am wondering if they stopped loading because of an update.
    Love watching you guys.

    I'm late to the party, but I'd like to thank you for this video. I was getting the SDX1200 machine for my birthday, but now I don't want it. I have a CM900 presently, which I have used maybe 10 times (hate the mats). Today, it decided that 3/4 the way cutting a second circle, one side of the roller jammed and skewed the mat. It ruined the mat in the process by leaving a furrow in it :-(I cleaned everything and changed to a brand new mat and blade. It did it again, another ruined mat. Another new mat, and adjusted the blade to a lower setting. It worked this time, at least it took the blade round but at the lower setting it didn't cut right through the card, so it had to be cut out by hand, and I had six left to cut. I didn't dare adjust the blade setting again in case it ate my final mat... This is not the first problem I've had with it :-( That's why I was going to get the SDX 1200 machine, but seeing as it is as glitchy or even more so. I give up.

      that being said, my scan N cut 2 sits in a draw because i can't get things to work right for me, now the scaner won't work at all, brother says i have to bring it to a service center..... not under wty, which means probably 100 or more to get fixed........ been used less than 50 times total........ and the nearest service place is over 2 1/2 hours away one way, and they will send it out to fix and i will have to drive back to pick it up, so a total of 10 hours driving to get it fixed.......... ya, not worth it to me.
      Not overly impressed with brother....... the only reason i wanted it for was to cut out stamped images.

  • @09chadster
    @09chadster Před 5 měsíci

    At 40:51, where you were pressing the paper down onto the mat, you moved the mat too. I suspect that is why your cut was off a little bit. The pressing of the paper to the mat should be done before you position the mat to be scanned/cut.

  • @hmmmIMHO
    @hmmmIMHO Před 5 lety +6

    I’ve had issues with the paper moving so cuts are off. The tackiness goes away too fast and the paper shifts a small fraction when it cuts. I now use painters masking tape on the sides of the paper to hold it down. Then i just block out the scanned in tape by shrinking the selection box inside the taped area.
    Brother tech support is terrible. 👿 I had a new mats that did not work - contacted them - response was “it must not be the correct mat for that machine” and closed the case number without asking for anymore information. They did not ask any information about the mat or ask for details.

    Updates by brother are scary! I bought my grandson a brother printer that cost $150. In about a year they changed the printer cartridges and they said the printers needed an update. They fried our printer! I called them and they said that some of the printers were not going to work and they were sorry about that and told me to buy another one! I am on a fixed income and the cost of that printer was very hard on my budget so I couldn’t afford to take a chance on another Brother machine!

    try pulling out the back tray so your mat stays in place, the bending may making it cut off too soon.

    I now understand why I am having a problem. Brother agreed yesterday to send me another mat and I will now check the mat when I get it. I just wonder how many of these faulty mats are in dealers stores. My dealer just told me that the mat was worn out. A mat should last longer that 14 weeks, (when I purchased the machine.) To give Brother their due when I contacted them they just offered a replacement. I diid not know about the dots. Thank you

    Hello guys from the UK . I have the SDX 1200 and have had the same issues that you and others have had, ie mats losing their stickiness and the mat not loading properly. Problems solved (sort of). I found your video very interesting , however, I have come across another issue and that is the alignment. Simply I could not align the machine because it would not recognise the fact that I had loaded the mat with a piece of paper (as per the instructions on screen) . It took me ages to sort out. I tried contacting brother but they were absolutely useless - didn’t understand what I was asking. And also I wanted to get a manual but according to brother the SDX1200 does not exist!
    I don’t wish to telephone them from the UK and I couldn’t find an email address. Any suggestions please.
    Thank you from the UK.

    I only watched the first 12 minutes and I think that my issue was addressed - my new mat did not have a DX in its name. I am shipping the original back for an exchange. I hope it will make the difference because my SDX225 takes the other mats without issues.

      newbiecrafter brother in Australia is putting me thru hoops...photos, videos etc... I have used my machine about 20 times and they are saying “It’s my fault and the mat is worn....please if you are only going to get 20 cuts...that’s terrible. And the back left hand side is slightly chewed...how can that be my fault.

    I have just purchased one of these machines. The standard mat that came with it works fine but I wanted a low stick mat also so I bought one. It will not load! No matter what I do it does not load but the original will. According to the dots the mat was made in June of 2018. What can I do. Have tried to talk to them in their on line chat, they wanted to put me through to their printing machine expert, at a cost. What is that about. Getting fed up and extremely disappointed. There are other issues as well but they may be because I haven’t used it much but if I cannot use the appropriate mat I cannot go ahead and cannot afford another, they are not cheap.

    Wow, I thought I was the only person this was happening to! I bought my SNC on ebay last month, and I've tried cutting out clipart. It leaves a tiny line on the cutouts, and sometimes the scanner won't pick up all of the images. I agree with you: for what I paid, this thing should not have these issues. I'm thinking of selling mine. I am wondering: whatever happened with yours? What was the upshot? Thank you very much.

    At around 51 minutes if you watch the mat come out of the back of the machine it looks like the mat is slipping. I think thats why your cuts were off. Watch it closely when you load the gnomes in for the second time, after you say you chose color - I am almost positive I saw the mat slipping.

    Dumb late question but what Mat am I supposed to buy in this date and age for the Brother SDX85?
    I bought a used one on ebay without a mat. I bought a standard 12x12 mat from Walmart and it's not recognizable. On the bottom, It has 10 dots on the left and 12 dots on the right.
    I'm bummed out. Thank you in advance for any tips. The machine recently updated firmware to version 1.62. Great video.

    I took a real good look at my machine hits not the Matt it is the rollerblade on bottom it's supposed to grab Matt I found mine was dirty had to clean it also if you turn down the end of your mat that's not catching it catches a lot easier and there is a possible if you use your mat a lot or your machine a lot I can see the rollerblade on bottom being wore out

    I’ve just purchased the Brother Scan N Cut SDX1200 in place of my Cricut Maker. I absolutely love the Scan n cut and it’s so easy to use and I’ve had no problems at all. I couldn’t get on with the Cricut Maker. None of the pre loaded projects turned out right and I wasted so many materials. Goodbye Cricut, glad to see the back of you. As for your mat problem I wonder whether it would’ve made a difference shutting down the machine and turning back on but I see this video is over a year old so maybe not relevant now.

I got out a brand new mat (bought for christmas 2020) it didnt want to read that one either. I grabbed a bottle of that compressed air people use to clean their keyboards, blew that through the front and back feed slots, problem solved

      I've brushed on "Aleene's tack it over and over" glue. I've also applied cheap shelf paper from dollar tree and some of the tackiness from the shelf paper stays on the mat, less messy than using Aleene's glue.
