    Thank you so much for this video. I have Sdx 125e, auto blade. Using card stock and it had cut through 2 mats!!!! So frustrating. I’ve been watching videos for 2 weeks looking for help. And nothing.. until just now with your video❤️ thank you!!!

      I have a 125e, even with the sample project, it severely imprinted on my mat, I did two more cuts and they cut through the mat as well. What’s the point of an auto-blade.

      @@ninapinkston4362 Once you have set it up, it rarely needs adjusting. I blame Brother for not making it clear that it needs calibration at all.

    Thank you, I'm frustrated because it cuts into the mat. I tried to adjust settings blindly lol but now i understand more about these settings thank you so much for clarification. I recently bought the machine and these vids are so helpful.

    My SDX1000 cuts too deep when I cut paper. A German CZcamsr also said that the auto blade often cuts too deep when cutting paper.

    • @createinspain
      @createinspain  Před 2 lety +2

      That is why you need to make sure your blade is erring on the light side!

    All my cutting is always fine with the blade on Auto. To be honest I'd be very annoyed if it wasn't, the idea of having an autoblade is it does all the workings out for me.

    • @createinspain
      @createinspain  Před 2 lety +2

      Well if yours ever has a new blade and cuts deeper than it should, you might get a nasty surprise.

  • @dib3385
    @dib3385 Před 2 lety +1

    Not sure if your machine is an issue Sandra. I've never had to adjust my auto cut settings for general card. I sometimes, when I am using copy paper (rarely) amend the cut depth from 1.00mm to 0.5mm, just because 80gsm is thin and obviously a 1mm cut is too deep, but other than that I've not had a problem. My mat is not normally scored, showing that the blade is not going too far in. I have had 2 blades in the time I have had the SDX (just over 2 years) and neither has needed any adjustment. Am wondering if you might be better just using the cut depth than messing with the pressure etc, but it seems odd to me that you are having to adjust it at all for general cutting

    • @createinspain
      @createinspain  Před 2 lety +1

      I don't adjust it normally and I am quite happy with it as it is, but I suspect that between the machines and the blades there are differences in the manufacturing. If you look at it logically, if all the machines and blades work perfectly on Auto setting - why would they even bother to HAVE adjustments? They would be obsolete.

  • @ElaineNash96
    @ElaineNash96 Před 2 lety +2

    I must be lucky as I've not had to do any calibrating with my auto blade.

    • @createinspain
      @createinspain  Před 2 lety +3

      When I bought my machine, (DX1200) neither did I - BUT a lot of people have been on forums saying how they cut into the mat or even through it. When I bought my first replacement blade, I nearly cut through my mat myself - even though I was using the same mat, the same card, and the same Auto setting that I had been using from new. The ONLY variable was the new blade. It has to be variation in manufacture, there is no other explanation.

    Great videos, subscribed! I’m having a different problem. My 125e will not save the pressure settings when I change them and still show as Auto. It’ll save everything else but not that. For example, it will allow me to change the cut speed and it’ll remember that - it’ll show that I changed it to 8 instead of 5. But if I tell it to change the blade pressure to 1, 3, or any number really…the status screen in your video at 3:06 will always show the pressure at Auto. I cannot figure out how to make it save and it is driving me crazy. Running the latest firmware at 1.80. Has anyone else run into this?

      @@createinspainThanks for getting back to me. Brother’s pages are, unfortunately, very generic and tend to assume the user is an idiot - “did you check to make sure the unit is on”? type stuff.

    Thank you! I ended up here because of a different problem, but my auto blade on my SDX 225 has always cut a little bit into the mat. I assumed it was just cutting into the sticky part. But now I tried adjusting the pressure. First to -5 and it was better, but the cut still left a little impression on the mat, so I cut at -9 and it was great! It cut the cardstock completely but left a very minor line on the mat.
    My problem is that the cut is not accurate (on any pressure). If I cut 2 rectangles that are exactly 2in x 3in, one will be about 1/16in smaller than the other. Anyone have any ideas for why that is happening?

    • @createinspain
      @createinspain  Před rokem +1

      They shouldn't be different sizes.Even if they are not the correct size, it should cut the same wrong size each time! Check that your rollers are clean. If the design is the wrong size going up and down the mat, it could be that your mat is not travelling properly. A drop of alcohol on a cloth (lint free) should help clean them up. Do it with the machine off and be VERY careful not to get liquid inside it. If that is not the issue, you may need to calibrate your cutter. There are FB groups dedicated to Brother cutters, that can help you out with that.

      @@createinspain Thank you so much for your suggestion! It was the rollers. They weren't as bad as I have seen them sometimes in the past, but it had been a while since I cleaned them. Both pieces came out the same size after cleaning the rollers!

    • @createinspain
      @createinspain  Před 2 lety +2

      I'm not talking about screen or placement calibration but the depth the blade will cut. It does show how to find the blade settings so that you can alter it for test cuts. Many newbies ASSUME you don't have to alter it - as I did when I first got my DX - and although it is auto in GENERAL, your experience may not be the same as theirs. Always best to err on the side of caution, rather than wreck a new mat. Many have done exactly that with a new machine!
