Debate shows allow anyone who can run their mouth well truly have a platform. For example you would think you could tell your own lifestory the best right. I’m not a baller. Basketball wasn’t my sport. But always enjoyed watching it. Bron and JJ’s show is way over my head. But I enjoy it because they’re talking about their craft and allowing us to see details we don’t have privy to. There isn’t another show going this detailed in the sport. They’re in a lane of their own. They’re honestly not competing with anyone because they have their niche.
I don't like Stephen A, but JJ didn't drop any special knowledge. The average basketball fan can appreciate plenty about the game without knowing those terms.

This is very necessary. A lot of fans never played anything, but because of SAS-types, you can have zero bball IQ but be vociferous in your opinion and THINK you're talking ball. Smith, Bayless, Cowherd, and others have made sports talk BS. To top it off, SAS is a deplorable journalist, so he has to resort to being bombastic to be heard. He cut his teeth in Philly, leaking info from trusted "sources" to make himself look like an insider. Real hoopers don't talk to him because he's a sucka. That's my 2-cents. I've never seen someone so envious of others' successes. Think about this: he's been in "journalism" for decades and has NEVER won an award, not even an Espy from his own network.

There is definitely a space for this type of show but the average and casual fans will always lean toward the over compensating big production of FS1 and ESPN. It’s easier for everyone to have an opinion on these forums verses a forum like J.J.’s and Lebron’s where they may feel too inadequate to offer an opinion. A lot of People don’t want to be educated but do like to give their uneducated opinions. Whether you like Stephen A or Colin Cowherd doesn’t change the fact that they are educated media professionals with decades of experience in the industry. Just like we criticize the media for not knowing enough about sports or playing sports we could say the same thing about athletes venturing into their industry. It goes both ways. I like your channel but You may be reaching here, JJ had a long interview w/ Flagrant and he shared how he knows there is a place for the SAS media of the world and that he enjoys being a part of that in First take - he just wants to add a different space for the basketball nerds - both SAS and JJ Redick both agreed that there is room for both types of media. Casual fans Love the First Takes - and JJ is on First Take so that would be very hypocritical of JJ and Lebron to "Destroy" SAS - especially when SAS is the one they both go to for more media attention. There is an audience for all of it. 🤝
