- Abandoned Railroad Crossing Where The Shoo-Fly Track Used To Be. Norfolk Southern Mixed Freight With Locomotive Shoving The Rear Speeds Past The Dead Gates & Lights. Big CSX Train With 2 Locomotives Working Hard In The Middle Of The Train Behind The Oldest House In Walton, Ky. Train Speeds Under Bridge & Over Bridge In Kentucky. These Trains Are In Richwood & Walton, Kentucky, USA.
Due to popular demand I did an update on the ex Shoo-fly area. This is the area where the railroad crossings were closed and a railroad overpass installed in Richwood, Kentucky. The crossing on Shorland Drive has been removed but as you can see the gates, lights and bell is still there. We se Train Number 123 passing southbound with a DPU on the rear. They were booking son!
Then I went to the Gaines Home in Walton, Kentucky. I missed the CSX train calling out the signal at Banklick on 161.370 and had to run down to the tracks. The CSX train was a huge manifest with 2 DPUs in the middle.
Next, I went to the area where NS goes over CSX at the end of the Gaines property. We see a Norfolk Southern train booking past and going over the CSX tracks.
The last train is a southbound manifest booking past the Gaines home and passing the emergency railroad crossing in front of the home. NS trains use 160.950 here and the EOT frequency comes in handy.
I also included a steam train that I filmed on the Hocking Valley Scenic Railroad. This train is in Nelsonville, Ohio. I put that in as a reminder to everyone that I have steam trains in my Steam Trains play list. For some reason the steam trains don't seem to get watched as much as diesel trains. Not sure why so I am trying to push them a little. I am thinking about going west soon to film the Canadian Steam Train and the Big Boy steam train.
Don't forget the slide show from the video and the Live Action Pets!
Filmed Thursday, June 13, 2024 in 1080p with 60fps. Thanks for watching!

Thank you very much for that shout-out! That made my day! Much appreciated. My friend in Minnesota said hey you gotta go watch JT right now! Which I was fixing to do since I just sat down. Thank you. I know you do appreciate the support, and that's one of the reasons why I do! You have the best channel and you are a good man so it's all my pleasure. Awesome video, that first train was booking, and that dpu sounded really good. Thanks again Brian stay well roll on
Wow, thanks for this support Mark! I just found this and it is a huge help! Glad that you saw that in the video. I was just scrolling through and saw this. That will go a long way and I appreciate it! Thanks again
I would like to see them separate the train at the double DPU. Then, I could double my morning coffee and train experience with 2 trains. It's the same logic I employ here at the pizzaria when the jovencita (young woman) asked me if I'd like the pizza cut into 8 slices? I replied: (8 rebanadas... for those who are learning Spanish). Your videos, Señor Jaws, have brought so much joy and utility around the planet. Muchas gracias. RT sends/envía, Colonia Centro Histórico, Puebla, México.
There is simply nothing that can beat the smell of a coal fired steam locomotive, so thanks for that clip JT.
We are blessed here in the UK to have so many steam powered museum lines plus regular steam hauled excursions running up to 75mph on the main lines.
But I still put N&W 611 as my favourite steamer.
Hello from across the pond. She/611 was built in my city back in the 50’s

Howdy jaw tooth it’s my birthday today and I just wanted to say how thankful I am that you post videos because your expression when you see a train and I love your passion for trains just like me love your videos keep it up🇺🇸❤️🙏🚂
The Raines came last night and the humidity went down finally feeling cool again.at last. Now I can watch trains with out getting heat stroke lol stay cool sun summer just started so bring a cooler with ice and cold drinks!🍦🍦🍹🍹🚂🚃🚃
Sounds great!
Those freights sure get a shift on, I guess time is money! Stay safe and hydrated JT.
Long trains today first had 110, second 164(!) & third had 100. Great video as always.
Cool, thanks!
The shoo-fly area was one of my favorite spots as is the bouncing bridge, gret video Brian👍👍
Glad you enjoyed it
@@JawTooth Always
So Jawtooth, why do you call your truck "The Bat Mobile"? 😂
I don't know. It just came to me one day
That CSX train was so long the engineer will be in Lagrange before the train clears Walton.
Thanks for watching!
Awesome video. Wish they would do something with the abandoned crossing. It's a shame to let it go to waste. Love the stack talk on that steam engine. Have a nice day and stay hydrated ☺️🌈💕
They'll probably remove the equipment eventually.
I agree with you
Good morning JT, Have a great day with your friends watching the trains! Stay safe see you on the next one. Fab video thank you! ❤😊👍
Good morning!
Thanks for the super video, JT. Lots of awesome trains and beautiful scenery! Have a great weekend, and we'll chat again soon. 🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Many thanks!
@JawTooth You're certainly welcome, JT! 😀😀😀
A fabulous way to start, JT! Two excellent mixed freight trains. The first was average size, but going fast! I'd guess 39 mph. The second one had some cool 😎 side dump cars, and three untagged box cars plus two mid-train DPUs
It was very long with approximately 170 cars! Great catch, my friend. Thank you! 🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂❤❤❤❤❤❤
Many thanks!
@@JawTooth You're welcome, JT! 🙂🙂
Two mixed freights at Walton, with the first being short but fast. The second was longer with a mid-train DPU! It was rather fast, too, but not as fast as the first. Both were great trains, JT! 🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂❤❤❤❤❤
Cool, thanks!
@JawTooth You're quite welcome, JT. 🙂🙂
Great you are back in Richwood and Walton Kentucky watching the trains and looking at the abandoned crossing also with some DPU'S,
always like seeing the steam engines as well as the live action pets
and the train slide shows, thanks again Jaw Tooth.🇺🇲🚂🚃🚃🇺🇲
Cool, thanks!
Fine video JT. Walton never disappoints. You caught several real nice trains on this one. Thank you JT for providing so much nice entertainment. ❤
Top of the morning JT, cool Great Freights 2day!
Morning!
Wow! Excellent catching all the trains, I like them, they're awesome, I already uploaded the video of mine, that has the CSX L425, in both short and long video, @JawTooth, Brian, thank you very much and have a wonderful week.
Thank you very much!
Still love that old shoo-fly site, surprised the signals are still in place. That was some really hard working power, including the 2 DPUS on the CSX. Steam locomotives are so cool, just love them. Hope everyone has a great 2024, and yourself JT.👍🏼
Shoo-fly, I like it. Steam power is the quintessential train.
Hi Brian. Just finished watching the Richwood, Kentucky video. I don't know if you get enough feedback on your style and just your natural self and the videos you do. I think that sometimes it's nice to get positive feedback. Well sir, you are a Master, no doubt about that as far as this Canadian viewer is concerned! You do what you do very well, Brian. It shows that you enjoy it and that reflects on the rest of us giving us an enjoyable experience as if we are there with you. Love your comments and information since I have never been to Kentucky or Ohio etc. and likely never will, so it's entertaining to get all the information you provide. Also, you have the knack, man. The spots you shoot from are always beautiful and the train shots are always spectacular. I will watch this video several times in the future I am sure. That run you made from your truck across that mansion's yard (can't remember the name now) with the trees and the train coming through between the trees- this is spectacular footage, Mr. Tooth! I love that spot. I also enjoy the Hamilton shots, those wonderful old buildings, the warehouses on the left and that other spot- that old grey paper mill building (what a beautiful old building) with the smoke stack and that tower in the background. Sorry for being so long-winded but I did want to tell you that you are pretty much my go-to-guy for train videos. Keep up the good work, Brian. :)
Great locations Jawtooth! And catches too!👍
Thanks a lot!
Thank you for taking us back to the railroad crossing in Richwood, Kentucky to catch Norfolk Southern train #123 on 13 June 2024, Jaw Tooth! After the train passed the abandoned street crossing, you showed us the bell on the top of the cantilever at the crossing. Did you also see that there was a bell on top of the post holding the remains of the gate? The CSX train that you caught at the Abner Gaines house was long a needed the two mid-trains DPUs that were on the train. I do not think that the northbound Norfolk Southern train that you caught under the bridge near the Abner Gaines house was train #376. The train did have a lot of empty coil flat cars at the end. Norfolk Southern train #376 is a dedicated train. Train #376 is a dedicated train. In previous videos the only cars on this train were empty coil flat cars which are sandwiched between a lead locomotive and an end of train DPU. There were no other freight cars on the train. The last Norfolk Southern train that you caught at the Abner Gaines house had a variety of freight cars on it. Thank you for adding the Hocking Valley steam train starting at 17:52. I was surprised when I saw the steam engine. I thought we were still at the Abner Gaines house in Walton, Kentucky. I wondered why there was a steam locomotive running on the Norfolk Southern's Rat Hole Line. I did not realize that we were in Ohio until I saw the Hocking Valley Railroad name on the tender. (21June 2024 at 1739 CDT)
Thanks for watching!
Great video, superb steam train
Thanks for watching 😊
That second train was very long wow great catch and that first train was booking fast also and great video as always JT
Thank you very much!
Lots of good action. Thanks for the reply yesterday on the flat cars.
You bet and good morning Steve. I am on the way to Kenova right now
@@JawTooth Safe travels
I often wonder if the DPU's ever think 🤔 JawTooth I see you?? Just saying hehehe 😜
Lol, thanks for watching!
Awesome back at the shoo-fly, dam that CSX train was long.
Beautiful day for railfanning! Happy first day of summer, JT
Thanks! You too!
Great video, JT! Nice wave and horn salute! Keep on the lookout for CSX engine #5500. It’s got Spirit of Cincinnati on the cab!
Thanks! Will do!
Nice job Brian!
Thanks!
@@JawTooth You're welcome!
JT, you are getting too old to run back-and-forth across that field at the Gaines’s house. Now you need to just get you a chair and go down there and set up under that overpass and you get the best of both worlds CSX and NS while sitting in the shade and all of those trains run on a time schedule, I laugh when you say what’s the hurry because every day something happens on that rail to slow those trains down so you can bet your butt that whenever that engineer can he’s gonna be running track speed to make up time but anyway, my friend another great video and as always you stay safe out there buddy and watch your back and we’ll see you on the next one
Good afternoon Brian.
Stay safely blessed
I really look forward to seeing you. Thanks
Thanks 👍
You had to hurry to catch that CSX, but it was worth it! A great train with double DPUs :)
You got that right!
That was beyond amazing . Track that's 101 years old , still in service . Your right , imagine all the trains from steam to diesel that traveled on it . I guess rails have very long lives . Beautiful area ! Thanks for all your hard work Brian ! I appreciate you ! Norfie knows how to use the computer now ? Wow , smart kitty . 😺❤️ Woof woof to Lady Chessie in her boudoir . 😉
Glad you enjoyed it!
Fantastic video son watch then on my big 48 inch tv now looks great to watch all your train videos thank you, jerry
Thanks 👍
Norfolk Southern train with DPU was working hard and 🔊 loud on the Rat 🐀 Hole 🕳 by the Gaines house nice one JT 👍👍👍👍👍
Thanks 👍
Very cool.
good morning!
I think the first train was booking really fast!
Always love the horn salute ❤
Thanks for watching!
. 0:22 I think you showed or you have a video while they were doing the construction work of them, making that "Overpass" in your past videos people can view 👌
Nice to see the finished product 👍
You are correct
I LOVE that ALOHA SHIRT you are wearing. Looks like some of the ones i have
That Norfolk southern and csx are booking man they must be rushing out awesome video Jawtooth
Sure is!
Hey jaw tooth seeing closed crossing makes me sad. I prefer crossings over bridges. If train coming I can stop at crossing. Can't stop on bridge without blocking traffic to watch trains. Lots of great trains. Have a great railroad day. 🚂🙋♀️
Another great video, Brian! As many times as I've seen you there, it baffles me that you can't seem to remember the correct first name - ABNER! A, B, N, E, R! The ABNER Gaines House! Just pokin' some fun atcha! Thank you for the great videos!
You are correct, I keep thinking Abner lol
Howdy JT! See? You were off rubber-necking and almost missed a train! 😁 Some good catches - liked the kinda rare double middle DPU! Thanks for sharing 🤠
Thanks 👍
Cool video, great catch
Thank you very much!
cool mate love your videos
Thanks for being here for me this morning, JT!
You bet!
Great video
Thanks!
Another great group of trains! Thanks, Jaw Tooth.
Glad you like them!
Thanks for another awesome video JT greetings from Scotland 😊
My pleasure!
@@JawTooth Thanks JT your welcome 😉
I do remember it took them decades to remove the signs and lights from an abandoned IC mainline in Fulton KY. Several mains were pulled up in 1989 but the crossing signs remained there for 30 years.
Great catches awesome capture shot and nice video
Those abandoned crossings make it the perfect spot to catch trains and just aboserve the scenery lol.
Definitely!
Thanks for some history there with no road and just signals..it looks funny. Bookinn were they late for lunch😅 a salute👍 my black kitty!! Very nice jawtooth!
Hey Jaw Tooth, just saw the Golden Swoosh pass through Jonesboro Arkansas. My first time to ever see it in person.
Mr jawtooth my dad said he will watch everyday your new videos like street running trains and more content he’s a huge fan of you he said he likes you filming trains 😂
Good one JT....I'm thinking I might go watch the Big Boy #4014 steam train...It will make a stop at the old SP yard in Roseville, Cal...July 12-13..
Big Csx Train. No wonder why he needed 2 dpus!
Thanks for watching!
I saw some footage of trains in Canada from the mid 80s and there was some but very little graffiti on the some of the cars. Didn't really start seeing it increase until the 90s. So nice to see those nice clean UP boxcars.
Awesome locations !! 1920 Baldwin on 1923 Carnegie Rail! Wasn’t that just a couple years ago? Rail is same age as my mom and both still going! That long shot of the train coming through the bridge was awesome! Love them coal burners.
The Steam Train was sweet!! Don't see too many of them around any more!!
Thanks for watching! I have a Steam Trains playlist
Good Friday afternoon Brian, y’all be careful on your travels today 🙏🏻
Hello Bill😊
You get uP ⬆️ early ☕️ 😊
I might start posting a little earlier actually
Hey there, I've been watching your videos for a couple of years and really enjoy them. I just wanted to bring to your attention, that conway scenic railroad in conway, nh received 3 coaches from the Ohio central. Today was the big move to their yard. My son, who's channel is north rail production will post a short soon. He wasn't able to chase the move, but he did catch a little bit.
Thanks for the tips! Awesome 😎
I hope the next location would be the bouncy bridge no more stay safe always sir jt!!!much love 😊❤
Hope so! I did go there and will post soon
Awesome video thanks Brian
Horn salute. Enjoyed the video
Centerbeam flat cars x8, awesome booking trains!
Yes indeed!
Yet another great video JT. Been watching for about 4 years now. Any chance of a tour of the restored Cincinnati station or don’t you do that kind of stuff. Love your style and keep up the great work. Cheers Graeme in Aus down under.
Possibly! I could do that. You can't see the trains from there very good now a days. The upstairs lookout room is no longer open to the public all the time and the Amtrak station is only opened for a short time. thats why I don't go there anymore but I could film it one day
@@JawTooth oh didn’t realise that. Thanks anyway 👍🏻
I estimate that first train was going between 55 and 58mph!
Thanks for watching!
You need to come to Gulfport Mississippi and film csx track and Kansas city southern servicing the port
Always interesting JT! 👍👍
Thanks 👍
Good morning Jaw Tooth.
Great video!!
Thanks!
Hi Jaw & it's is Randy and i like yours video is Cool & Thanks Jaw & Friends Randy
Awesome p me videos as always love chessie norfie and loki❤❤❤
Thanks 😄
Speed gun is always fun. Still think a decibel meter app would be interesting.
I remember 8 am uploads once upon a time
I might go to 6 or even 5am since it is getting light early
First train was doing about 40mph when the locomotives came past. (About 210 video frames, at 60fps, for the three 72ft locomotives to pass the crossing signal gantry.)
Great shoo-fly update. Has traffic in the area smoothed out due to the roads being rerouted? I see you're keeping up with the Gaines House excercise routine. An EOT DPU and double mid train DPUs, living the good life. Excellent action, enjoyed it much. Thanks JT!
Thanks for watching 😊
Merci beaucoup pour cette très belle vidéo ! 👍
Thanks for watching!
@@JawTooth You're welcome. Have a great day!
Good video Jawtooth
Thanks!
10:11 the white walls on these wheels!
There must be a lot of new box cars being built as more of the older ones are ready for retirement.
Top of the morning to ya Brian... Let's see some heavy iron!!
Morning!
Nice Video
Thanks
Surprise! You snuck some Nelsonville, Ohio in on us.
You got that right!
Full Nelson, or half Nelson?
How many missed the bell salute from the tourist train.
I was there last week and didn't even realize I went under there till now! Isn't the very steep NS industrial spur near there or am I mistaken?
First train must have been looking at nothing but green signals as he wasn't letting off the pace. That CSX train was the best with virtually every type of rail car there is. @6:42 a unique TILX tank car with 2 hazmat stickers and some really long name spelled out as to what the chemical was. Perhaps one of our chemical specialist Can Shed light on it. @7:30 a former GONX gondola now marked for NSSX National Scrap and Salvage which does a lot of track dismantling. The heavy steel coils and if CSX can handle truck frame cars at the end the next NS train said we'll handle more of them at the front. Add the two Centurion pieces of iron (rail & loco) and you've got a full weekend agenda
The main placard is UN 1093, which is acrylonitrile. It's both flamable and toxic, so it has the extra "toxic" placard. Used to make ABS plastic.
@@beeble2003 thank you for answering and boy that sounds like something you don't want to be near in a derailment. . Several weeks ago you mentioned a 3dome tank car in a jawtooth video and it happened to be SKSX if I remember and that was from Safety Klee n Corp Not all that many years ago these were a real nice yellow with black lettering and if you were in Chicago you'd see them heading to the East Chicago processing center Apparently loads were .seperated and analyzed and likely then got shipped to their efinery in Ontario. I don't know if you subscribe to Red's Iowa train video but his last one out about a day or so ago has a really nice down on drone View of a 4 dome ETCX car with room for four separate placards. For those distribution centers or firms that don't need a whole car of one substance. There's a distributor in Milwaukee that gets about two of these a year
@@paulbergen9114 I'm not subscribed to that channel, but I think I actually watched the video you mention. At least, I've seen a video including a four-dome tank car in the last couple of days, so it's probably that one!
I enjoy the video👍👍
Glad you enjoyed
