Looks more like an obstructed bore, or maybe a headspace issue.
its headspacing issues. the bolts dont fit into the lugs tight enough, or the lugs are too narrow and the bolt cant lock properly. Common in low quality AK builds, because there is no "mil-spec" AK, so no measurements on any AK are exactly the same as the next, but, in low quality AKs, parts are thrown together as if they are all the same, causing small, or catastrophic failures.

It's more like probably out of headspace.. This tends to happen in AK's after a while. Could always be bad ammo though, it's just not as common because it's not as high pressure as say a 5.56 or 308 round and never reloaded like both typically can be, and 762x39 has a stronger case for its dimensions/pressure.

The point isn't for the gun to never fail, its for it to be easy to fix. Its kind of like new vs old cars. This is the work of spiked ammo, a very common trick.

they blew up from sabotaged ammo, people will remove the gun power so when the rifle is shot, the bullet is only sent halfway down the barrel, which then turns the barrel into a pipe bomb when the next shot it made. Google "sabotaged ammo" or "squib load" if you don't believe
