You described FFVII perfectly. It was so special to me as a kid specifically because the game was actually very mature in concepts for its time period. The cursing, adult themes, and complicated characters.
Most games were about innocence but this was my first experience with darkness. There was a darkness to Midgar and the world in general which is enhanced by the music, and just like the music there is this tiny glimmer of hope buried deep in it and this mask on the surface. I could recount so many details that I loved. But in general the world design is so unique that you swear this place actually exists.
The story is a reflection of our past life and represents everything we can’t go back to which is childhood. It hurts but also makes me smile and feel a sense of euphoria if I drift off into the memory.
Was this game a subtle warning of what was to come for all of us? I think so. The way the characters look like children but have an adult experience is part of it. Then if you played FFVIII after you’ll notice the characters resembled more young adult characters and the theme of the game captures the feeling of going to a new school or college and venturing out on your own. With more responsibilities and teachers grading you.
It’s wild how these games can have such an impact that we cherish this memory as strongly as we do our real experiences in real life. Like you said it was one of our first loves which is a very powerful way of describing it. Guilt free spending all day together with no consequences or worry. That’s what it’s like when you fall in love.
The FF7 remake is out now and I’m sure you’ve played it. While it does take away some of the imagination I think it was great for those of us who already experienced the original game as kids. The creators managed to bring our imagination to life as if they knew what we were thinking back then because they too experienced it. Very cool.

Years ago, when I had enough money for a new system, I decided to buy a PS4 because I knew that eventually, the FF7 Remake was coming to it. But when the game came out, I didn't play it. I did watch a few hours of a CZcams playthrough though. My thoughts on it are incomplete, but hopefully I can play it all one day, when I need to go back.

I like that you used footage from the game and from the movie. It adds a lot to the whole story. And the music is quiet enough that your voice is never drown out, and the choice of tracks is really good too. Great video!

This is one of my favorite final fantasy games too.. I still have the remake movie! The new game was good too (I watched the whole game on here!) My cousin was the one that introduced me to the movie when it came out & we watched it together! He's in heaven now & he was only in his mid 30's so it has deeper meaning to me for that as well! 💔 I tried to watch your sacrifice sailor moon video, but it blocked me!! 😣😢😭😟
