    Lol when your usage rate is that high, you steal rebounds from your big men, and you’re leading the league in points while while shooting 42%, it’s not that impressive tbh

    that 32-9 triple double argument is flawed because most of those wins come against sub .500 teams

      @sarangdesai9035 Před 7 lety +1

      Eh, Rockets with much better shooters are 4-8 against top 4 teams. So, Harden's doing against weak teams too. And, if the Cavs weren't acting as if regular season doesn't matter, the record would've been 2-10.

    • @newrecruit100
      @newrecruit100 Před 7 lety +1

      Sam Tha Ruler it's not even flawed because of that. It's flawed because they assume that him getting more rebounds per game is leading to these wins when if the bigs were getting the rebounds it'd be the same

    • @annesalvador3095
      @annesalvador3095 Před 6 lety

      Sam Tha Ruler why is it flawed? it just shows that against better teams, his very best was not good enough to carry his team, whereas, against lesser teams, they need a triple double just to win. your argument actually emphasizes the quality of his teammates or the coach or the team as a whole.

    Gotta side with Cowherd here. I don't get why a triple double is that important. What's important is if the team has more rebounds than the other team. Did the Thunder dominate the paint because of Westbrook, or did they just redistribute those rebounds to Westbrook? I think we all know the answer.

      Lavar Ball Exactly! Curry plays good for 12 games and all of a sudden he's an MVP candidate ???

    • @Zasaramel
      @Zasaramel Před 7 lety +2

      Collin never said he was an MVP candidate. He is saying people are overly infatuated with the triple double stat because that is the only reason why Westbrook is a true candidate for MVP right now. And he wouldn't have the stats for it if his team was -actively feeding- him rebounds to attain it. Not to say it doesn't matter at all, not to dismiss the points or assists. But at least people can be honest with the fact they are biased in how much they value the triple double and recognize that a few players in the league right now could get it, because they are already right near it without trying for it, if they specifically fought to get it.
      Even without getting the sheer number of triple doubles, if Westbrook didn't have his 2 bigs " who are supposed to be getting the rebounds since it's their job as bigs, feeding him those rebounds he'd the MVP over Harden because he is unquestionably working with less and getting the same production as Harden. And is making it to the playoffs. But, Collin and others don't like the over glorification of Westbrook over his stat stuffing because it is obvious. Especially by the hypocrites who wanted to critique Lebron when many called him the greatest player in the league, because they felt he came up short in the big moments " lack of clutch gene " and wanted to dismiss the fact his stats were all time great for the first 48 minutes of the game.
      People are being wishy washy and are obviously letting personal bias affect their objectivity. While I think Collin does it some himself, but his arguments in this case is at least based around the facts of the situation.

    I like how people don't think one bit about Westbrook's win% when he doesn't get a triple double. It's around 33%. People just glance at it and think, "oh wow, the team sucks when Westbrook doesn't give his best". But if you look at it logically, you'll find one really odd thing about that statistic. The definition of "not getting a triple double" could be a stat line of 30-10-8. Why does a difference of 2 rebounds turn the win% of the team from lottery-bound to title contender?
    When Westbrook goes 30-10-8, the Thunder win 33% of the time. When Westbrook goes 30-10-10, they win 66% of the time. It just doesn't make sense. Two rebounds get you 2 possessions. 2 possessions get you 8 points at MOST, and that's only if you're fortunate enough to get 4-point plays on both. It's most likely that 2 extra possessions leads to just 3 points on average. So how does 3 points make the difference between lottery team and championship contender? The Thunder don't win all their games by 3 points or fewer. Those 3 extra points are rarely the difference between a win and a loss for them. It's absolutely absurd.

      Angel Davis Against mostly sub .500% teams who's best option to guard Westbrook is Elfrid Payton. When he plays against the Warriors I don't see him dropping 57 point triple doubles. He stat stuffs against all the bad teams that have no defensive options against him, and when he plays good teams he shoots 39% loses and looks helpless, so much for those triple doubles against bad teams, it's not gonna help him when he exits the playoffs in the first round.

And he put up those stats he did. Michael Jordan would be blocked at least 3 times every game against Chamberlain. And there were numerous centers at that time. And less teams means facing more of Chamberlain, more of Bill Russell, more of Kareem, more of Willis Reed, and many more almost on a daily basis. That is like playing against LeBron and Kawhi every 2-3 times a month.

    This "He's 32-9 when he averages a triple double" is one of the weakest arguments I've ever heard, as if that's the sole purpose of his winning and because of that, Westbrook isn't being held accountable. He'd have the same margin/ if not more wins if he contested more shots, held his team accountable on rebounding and turned it over less. Holding his team mates' feet to the fire would allow them to grow, LeBron does this!

You'd think they'd be rated higher if Harden supposedly has a better team. The Thunder are what we expected of them (5th-8th seed) but the Rockets surpassed their expectations and are now locked into the 3rd seed.
