    Aaaaaand if LeBron put up a 60pt triple double Colin would be aaaaaaaall over it saying how LeBron is the GOAT, how Mike never did it, forget the winning, he never did this get outta here man just appreciate the fact we have players in the league capable of doing stuff like this.

      I completely disagree...James Harden got a 60 point triple double at home, with a great coach, against one of the worst teams in the league, if lebron were to put up those numbers with the current dumpster fire that is the Cleveland Cavaliers it would be amazing. Don’t get me wrong James Harden is a great player and played one of the best games of his career, but he is surrounded with many other contributing factors that help him achieve these kinds of accolades. If Lebron was able to do this in Cleveland with a roster that has pretty much quit playing at this point, a coach that can’t develop any kind of dependable defensive or offensive scheme , and with a management team that has never consistently provided sustainable talent for their best player, it would be amazing. Giving Harden his props is the right thing to do and I don’t have a problem with that, but if lebron were do this right now, at this point in time, it would hold so much more significance.

      @kyleelpel9402 Před 6 lety +1

      Well if Lebron gets 60 then he's absolutely dominated everybody in the game.
      If James Harden gets 60 that means he might've shot over 50% from the field that night and got to the line 20 times. He has the ball all the damn time.
      I think the main issue here is that we celebrate all these ball-dominant players for passing the ball, taking half their teams shots, and getting occasional rebounds.

    • @jonathont8931
      @jonathont8931 Před 6 lety

      Yes but Lebron is a small forward, and Harden was the primary ball handler in that game with CP out, if he would have done this with Chris Paul on the floor it would be more special as he wouldn’t have the ball the whole game and take every shot , plus they were playing the magic

Also, this game have nothing to do with last year playoff game. If everytime Lebron had a great night we bring up his mavs series, you would be the first to be outraged. 80's nuggets scored 186 in a game once...them and the pistons were high scoring teams in the 80's...the supposed bad boys only held to teams to 101-102 a night and were vaulted as a great top 3 defense
      But they were for years a top 2-3
      offense and many teams heck the 2017 jazz held teams to less than the 87-90 title worthy pistons .....the 04 pistons held teams to 88...they were a great defense....the 80's were overrated...teams didn't defend..their were no analytics ...the 90's were a little better with handchekcing but Colin also forgets the 3 seconds in the paint rule on defense and offense that got implemented in the 2000's that pretty much ruined shaq and any centers career to be successful in the nba on both ends...now you can't hide on defense or stay near the rim on offense expecting rebounds and blocks...you actually have to guard shooters and stay by a man...different league.

      Exactly. Literally all it takes is a quick google search to find this out. Scoring went way down in the 90s and early 00s and now it's starting to go back to the way it used to be in the 80s. People seem to forget how fast paced the game was back in the 80s and how little defense was played. Teams scored as many points as they do now but without hardly taking any threes,

    Wow... did I just watch 2 NBA "expert analysts" comment on a game that they clearly only box score watched for all intents and purposes? This wasn't a meaningless game. His team was without 3 of its major contributors. The bench was empty. He had no help. Still won. Is the game still about winning? You'd think it wasn't based on these "experts" trashing Harden for doing what he had to in order to win. Home court advantage matters and Harden fought for it when others would have quit. Props to him.

    The Rockets announcer didn't say it was the greatest performance he'd ever seen. He didn't say it was greater than anything Hakeem did. He didn't say that Harden should win MVP now. He said 'He'd never seen a game like this'...which is a fact, not an opinion since that was the first 60 pt triple double in league history...and he called it an mvp performance...its impossible to argue that if he did that every night he would win MVP. Sooooo...Colin Cowherd must be actually mentally disabled to interpret the call the way he did. Don't know anything about him but how did he get a show??

    Geez, Harden had a great night and you find a way to criticize the way he plays!? Ok some people may have gone overboard with how big a performance it was, but you dont need to bring him down just to try and minimize it. Bringing up that finals game against the Spurs and saying he doesnt play defense just to try and discredit him was uncalled for. Harden had a great night and it was probably the performance of the year so far.

    We should admit this isnt the same thing as 60 points 20 so years ago. There are more points averaged in the game and less defense. We are seeing people score 50+ points all of the time now. We should look at the percentage of points scored by the player relative to their team and total points in the game as well

    His comment about how much teams score is incredibly misleading. The average number of points per game in the NBA is currently 105. The only time it was less than 100 ppg was before the 1957-58 season, and between the 1995-96 season and the 2007-08 season. When it comes to scoring more than 100 points, there have been 9 seasons in which the average ppg was less than it currently is, and 31 seasons in which the average ppg was more than it currently is. So he basically made a claim about too much scoring now when historically there have been 31 season that have had a higher average
