Dispelling Beauty Myths: Gender Norms | Allure
María José is stunning; I was enthralled watching her speak. What a beautiful way of talking, her expressions, her mannerisms, her face are just gorgeous.
I agree completely.
Rain Dove is actually the coolest name ever.
Annika Park I know it's like Prince picked it!
okay okay not to be hateful but sounds like a warrior cat oc 👌🏼👌🏼
Name matches her unique personality
the person with the long hair is so beautiful I'm in love
the man*
+Natalie S. you've commented so many times on this video and you're so hateful, I hope one day you find peace within yourself and can be more open minded.
+eva shaw I commented two times, he's a man, there's only 2 genders
+SegwayIsTrash sorry I didn't know there were chromosomes for transgender and nonbinaries
Sorry, I thought you meant /gender/, not sex.
That's more of a linguistics error, seeing as how the actual definition of gender does not refer to chromosomes.
"chu chu"
I CAN'T!!!!
There's a part of me wanting Kate to be my grandma
Mari Larrosa sameee
Kate is everyone’s grand person.

Dafuq has BDSM to do with gender?
Don't eat my toxic candy ikr
bdsm is not part of the lgbt+ community. there are obviously lgbt+ people who are into that but just because you like kinky stuff doesn't make you queer. imo
I think they were talking about the style
idk when BDSM slip under the LGBT term. it's a kink thing, it's unfortunate to mix it in with LGBT.
It was a joke lmao
Rain Dove looks absolutely as stunning in a dress as she does in male clothes and I really don't understand why she'd be seen as aggressive for wearing one. I was literally like "damn" when I saw her in the dress.
She wouldn't be seen as aggressive for wearing a dress per se.
It has to do with the different expectations on how men and women should behave. When people believe that she is a man her attitude comes across as normal but if people believe that she is a woman the same attitude comes across as aggressive and domineering.
She has a stunning body, but because of her masculine looking face, people think she's a boy, or a trans-woman, which they don't want to relate to.
Because of that stigma, she comes forward as aggressive, but also because she doesn't really embrace the femininity, she still walks like "a man" when she wears a dress, and if she doesn't go all the way thru with makeup and stuff, she's actually just sending a message that screams and that is aggressive.
"..so I'd wear a conductor cap for the next two years. whenever someone would call me 'tranny danny', I'd be like 'choo choo.. all aboard' " LMAO :D
I honestly and truly can't see why somebody would be angry about this. These people are wonderful, amazing and have an inspiring story. The aren't hurting anyone by being who they are. On the opposite side, people who can't accept these persons are the ones who are the problem, they are the ones that we should be angry about.
Rain Dove...I think I fell in love...
when you have to think that hard to say who you are....just say "I am me"
Or in Swahili, mimi nina me: meaning I'm me.
I get gender fluidity because I like relate but like damn if your gender is a whole sentence. GIRL
lmao
I believe they went with the "full title" as a point about how society is determined to put you into a box, by any means necessary. And the extended title shows how stupid that is. That being said, realizing that there was a word for how I am, which is also gender fluid, made me feel like I am not alone because there's enough people in the world like me, in one way or another, to grant a title.
I get gender fluidity, but those outfits genuinely made me cringe. If you wanna be a manwoman, please wear a dress.... or at least something that matches.
saying that someone has to wear something to 'pass' a certain way is directly going against the idea of gender fluidity because you're saying they have to look like a man or a woman. that's not the point
People can wear whatever they want and describe themselves however they want. Their 'gender' is a whole sentence because they're describing difference aspects of themselves. Just like someone saying "I'm a blonde, athletic, musically inclined, nerdy, gay, trans boy." That's just who they are, you can chill.
"I'm not transsexual because I love the body I have. My state of being is just unique."
gender is such a personal thing. in my opinion, it's up to an individual to decide what labels make them feel good and fit them the best, or no labels at all. i think it's ridiculous that we're expected by western society to shove ourselves into these two ridged boxes, male and female. we only have one short life, why spend it trying to fit into a label that's practically unobtainable?
Well said!
gender is man and woman, not male and female. male and female are biological facts, which society has attached either masculinity or femininity to. male+ masculinity= man
female+ femininity=woman.
The only logical, factual part is the biological sexes, which aren't the same as gender.
Ra Fie That's a good explanation, I might use it some time.
Ra Fie absolutely, i completely agree. using male and female as the equivalent of man and women in my first comment was just me trying to show how most of western society perceives it to be, as gender and sex going hand in hand. which isn't true. thanks for making me clarify though.
perfect, this is the difference
Im very much part of this. I just don't get why all the labels are necessary. In my head, I'm a man who simply enjoys dabbling into the feminine realm.
Exactly!! All these people are trying soo hard... I can see their eyes screaming "I'M A SPECIAL SNOWFLAKE" I don't want to be rude but...
(Sorry if my english is bad)
somehow...somewhere..i love you. Your comment is beautiful.
Romulano100 oh my gosh yes! :)
I'd love it and I'm sure so many others would, too.. if it were this simple. I'm a woman.. I look like one, feel like one, and sometimes talk like one.. but sometimes, I'm kind of manly, too. :)
Unfortunately stupid people like to push their rules on others so we need terms to make it easier for said stupid people.
Exactly! The first person is literally struggling to list all the things they label themselves as, they just seem to want to be 'different'. My friend is a girl and was born a girl but wears shirts/guys jeans etc. and people are always like 'oh so youre queer, transgender, non-conforming, genderfluid etc. etc.' and shes like '..i just like the clothes'
I'm not sure what pronouns they prefer but i really wanna kiss the person with the long hair
same holy crap they're aesthetically pleasing
she/her
+CARMEN Estrellas I'm recognizing her beauty ❤️
How is saying someone looks good objectifying them?
+CARMEN Estrellas what😂
It's called pansexual and I'd kiss all of you.
Thank you for saying this; I was thinking just the same!
Same
I was wondering what pansexual was.
Yes!
.....pansexual.....is a sexuality......not gender.....
Omg Maria Jose you are so so so so beautiful. Not only physically but that confidence you project. You left me speechless.
seeing people as people really isnt that hard. you just choose not to.
Ok but I think I fell in love with Rain Dove srsly
I am crying like a baby and just replaying this video again and again, I cant stop my tears, this is SO BEAUTIFUL!
I was smiling with misted eyes all the time watching this. "There is more people that feel this way!!"
Thanks for the clarity and the honesty.
"I'm looking for respect and intent" well said and full of compassion for themself and others. People who overcome society shunning them learned to love themselves without the help of the masses, and in doing so gained a compassion they can share with every and anyone. We misfits have the most golden hearts.
Rain Dove, you are voicing EVERYTHING that I have been feeling since I was a child and it is SO validating. Thank you!
that was beautiful and....heart swelling....this made me cry in such a way that...i feel amazing but also sad because these things are taboo to talk about and that its not ok to be who you wanna be and act how you please....love who you wanna love....thank you for this beautiful video...
"I thought that meant that I was into trains." Wowzersssss! 😂😂😂😂😂😂😭😭😭😭😭😭
BDSM aint a gender, darling. its a kink.
rain doves childhood story always gets me! soo cute
I don;t think I've ever loved a video on CZcams as much as this. Thank you. They have brought light to something I experience to a wider audience than who I come into contact on a normal basis.
The first time my little brother dressed himself, he put on a tutu
aish almotery why are you so angry, it's just a cute story
"Because tutus are usually for girls, look at him breaking the stereotype"
on the other hand, its just cloth. cute.
The person with the long hair somehow reminds me of Violet Chachki
I'm sure when I was 20 I'd have found this confusing because I had never met people outside the broadly accepted 2 gender.s...but now at 60 life didn't go the way I thought to it would, I've had a fascinating life I'm just an ordinary woman single till I was 34....met a man totally opposite to what I thought I'd spend my life with and he died last year after w6 years together. The ONLY things that matter are being happy in your own skin, and to be loving and accepting with others....( as Jesus said "Treat others the way you want to be treated) and hopefully find someone to share your life with...all the rest is entirely up to you. I find these three people intriguing and beautiful and would love to meet them...I wish all 3 of you well in your life journeys. To those making negative comments ...if you were living a life based on love and tolerance you would not be making such comments and would understand. You have time to grow and open your mind and heart.
You're all so fabulous! Everyone of you deserves to live the life you want, you are all, truly an inspiration xxx
I saw Rain Dove in the thummbnail and screamed. Also great video!
I actually relate to the person with the pink jacket thing, it feels good to know that there's people like me in the world. ☺
while it would be ideal to go without labels, society isn't ready for that yet. We're still hung up on liberal vs conservative lol. I feel for these individuals. Feeling threatened for experimenting and discovering is absurd. Just because I have manly qualities doesn't mean that my femininity is broken. This movement kind of encourages people to see others as human beings, rather than a label. And for some people, humanness is scary. Talk about being scared of your own reflection!!
Whatever you want to be in life be the truest you. what an inspiring soul ❤
Anybody choking back tears hearing their stories?
This is beautiful. It's so inspiring to see people unapologetically being themselves.
Beautiful. I truly love this.
I definitely support that one can be whoever and whatever they are. But, I often hear trans people say something like "as a kid I couldn't imagine growing up as a woman and like wear dresses and have long hair and stuff so I knew I was a man" and theres just something wrong with that statement in my opinion... I identity as a girl/women and can't imagine wearing dresses and having long hair neither... If one thinks that thats the only look a women can have then I understand why one would think that the gender is too shallow for them to feel comfortable identitfying with. But if you think the gender society put on you from birth isn't enough or that its too shallow for you, why not just redefine it? With that being said, again, you can be whatever and whoever you are:)
I HAVE THE SAME TARDIS NECKLACE. YYYAAAASSSSSS DW.

hello, I'm Amanda I'm a girl but I dress both really. I'm bisexual and I'm doing great :)
what do you mean you dress both????? CLOTHES DON'T HAVE GENDERS RIGHT??? :D
Lets not split hairs here.. We all know that they mean "traditionally" because traditionally clothes are usually associated with specific genders and some are not.
Shiloh 陆冬恋 I think everyone should just wear whatever they want, and not what they ''traditionally'' should wear
Maria Jose is littt. The energy is giving me life
